- The Pipe Band was introduced in 1999 with 8 pipers, 3 side drums and 1 bass drum. Today some 16 pieces of pipes, 8 sides, 2 tenors and 1 Bass have been bought by the school.
Under the able leadership of the band master, Mr. Sanjay Samuel Rai. The Band, with its Scottish attire, instantly won the hearts of the people of Kalimpong. The band has not only been performing in the school functions but has also been associated with functions organized by NGO and sister Institutions in other districts and neighboring states.
Sikkim gears up for its biggest event, Sikkim Winter Carnival 2014. The Sikkim Winter Carnival 2014 was jointly organised by Sikkim Tourism and Civil Aviation and Government of Sikkim and was started on Dec 14 till Dec 19. The annual tourism festival is one of the most popular events in the north east circuit. Main highlights are the various cultural events, music shows, arts and crafts exhibitions, unlimited adventure activities like paragliding, mountain biking, rock climbing and much more.

brilliant, I am from NE Scotland and this band can feel proud of its performance, it was inventive, played with a swagger as it should be. You would go down well here
For all the people hating on them, they are just a bunch of school kids doing this for fun and its a school band. Don't tell me they have to be perfect and yeah one more thing, would y'all be able to play something totally different from your culture and from a totally different country? Y'all can't play instruments from here either, i even doubt you know something other than from your own country. So please no need for extra sticks for these school children, instead motivate them.

I still remember the day in Darjeeling where the Band Display competition was held where Kumudini Homes from Kalimpong stood 1st and this school SUMI stood 2nd position..Proud of being an ex-band member of Kumudini Homes..Some unforgettable memories.

i know that india is a poor country but i feel that i need to make things clear here. im a pipe major of the city of fayetteville pipes and drums in arkansas and there is a good reason why myself and other bagpipe teachers will tell you to NEVER buy a bagpipe that is made in pakistan....because they are impossible to get in tune and they sound like a dying cat, plus you can clearly tell they plugged the 3 drones on the shoulder and that is because they impossible to tune. it ruins the whole beauty of the bagpipe sound, when a new piper buys a set of pipes i always recommend them to do their research on pipes that are good quality and will be easy to maintain. i always give recommendation on instruments that will the best band for the money. the drummers sound okay but not pipe band quality

Those pipes are supposed to make a big sound, but all we hear is a thin, reedy, sound, similar to a *kazoo!* If you're playing the great pipes, you shouldn't sound like you're playing the loo plumbing!!
Nothing is charming, just a monotonous display without proper synchronisation .
