Very impressive as my late father an ex DIGP who raised two battalions with pipe and brass bands - this band is a top contender at The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo. Congratulations to this Gurkha’s Pipe Band and to the Pipe Band Master - simply Outstanding A+++ Display. God Bless Nepal and keep up the Fearless Warrior Tradition and Always Respected and Admired.

My father told me and I read it too, he was a Royal Engineer and was out to blow bridges and place booby traps and mines against the advancing Japanese army, he had Gurkhas to help and to cover them while laying the explosives. They were always the last out. He told me at night the Gurkhas would sneak off to the Japanese lines where they would not only cut the throats but also cut the heads off of the sleeping Japanese soldiers, just four or five, all sentries were beheaded and their heads stuck on bamboo sticks where they stood sentry duty, and sometimes they would bring back heads as trophies. My father thought it was a game for the Gurkhas, for fun as they obviously enjoyed it obviously too, this demoralised the Japanese and the only people that really terrified the Japanese were the Gurkhas. to the Japanese to have ones head cut was a punishment and a dishonourable death. The Japanese used psychological warfare at night, the Gurkhas were far better. day and night, My father ended up as a POW for four years, was on the Burma railroad, was on a death march and shipped to Tokyo where he was liberated by the Americans. My father said too, the Gurkhas were the best soldiers to have as a friend and the worst to have as an enemy. When Britain were fighting the Gurkhas, in one battle, one wounded Gurkha came to the British line and demanded politely to be treated, which they did, they patched his wound up, he thanked them profusely and simply disappeared back to his own line, a veritable story, the Gurkha is a great warrior with unlimited courage.

Mercenaries are rogue soldiers who'll fight for money and any one. Winston Churchill once said words to the effect that 'anyone who said they were never afraid of dying were liars, except if they were a Gurkha soldier!'.

It was "Any soldier who says he's not afraid, is either a liar or a Gurkha", It was Field Marshal Sam Bahadur Manekshaw, who said that...

    1) Great job by camera operator of keeping the marching band within proper framing all throughout the performance!
    2) “Weebles wobble, but they don’t fall down!”
    3) Q: Do you know why bagpipers are always in marching bands?
A: Because they’re trying to get away from the noise!
    😂😂😂

I am so happy you posted this and that I found this video. I watch it frequently. I hope you post more, especially this particular battalion.
I am also interested in the way they march and the history of these pipers.

This wonderful video is of the 1/3 Gorkha Rifles This is a regiment of the Indian Army. Which was transferred from the British Army during partition of India . Not to be confused with the Royal Gurkha Regiment of the British Army. I have met many a Gurkha and can only feel humble in their presence. True Gentlemen and kind and when the need arises, ferocious fighters . Long may they be our friends.
