Happy Birthday, Sam! You’ve been nothing but a blessing in my life. From the wise advice you give me, to letting me vent, to indulging me in random stupidity and to stoking my creativity in our collaborations, my life would be so different without you in it. I cannot wait for our meet up next month. Oh and by the way, excellent cover! All the tones are on point, as usual. Now I’m starting to think George was on guitar the whole times.
Awesome cover! It's pretty interesting, with the 50th anniversary boxsets revealing so much about who played what after believing different lineups on these songs for years. I always thought this was Paul and John on their Casinos with George on bass, like with Oh! Darling I used to think it was Paul on bass, George on guitar, and John on piano.
Terrific! About the drum "solo" in this song - it is at times criticized as "simple", however, it was never meant to be a "solo", I had read years ago, McCartney loved the way it sounded and encouraged Ringo to play it (solo), they had intentions to fill in that section with something to accompany Ringo, they just didn't know what, but McCartney continued to love the way it sounded with just Ringo and they left it - THE THING IS - a few years later that drum pattern (not sure of the correct wording), became the staple beat for Disco music, which turned into the staple pattern for dance music - thom-thom-thom-thom, 4 beats a bar on a loop. Not saying Ringo invented it, and maybe it's not a powerful "solo" compared to say Moon or Bonham but it's a killer beat, and other genre's of music and their fans approve.
Awesome. Happy B-Day Sam and thanks for sharing your talents of the greatest music ever made! Those guitar effects at 1:10 are so spot-on, it sounds like I'm listening to the White Album.
Dude this sounds amazing! I learned the parts to this song awhile back but I never noticed the sliding in the higher guitar during the bridge. I went back and listened and I can definitely hear that aggressive sliding that (paul?) does there. Anyways great cover man seriously!
Your theory on who played bass sounds very solid, I always thought Paul played lead because it just sounds like something he would play but I also don't know why I just felt that way haha And happy birthday!
Estoy reproduciendo este tema porque justamente hoy es el cumpleaños del legendario Paul McCartney; 82 largos años!!! A modo de tributo, obviamente. Feliz cumpleaños, Paul McCartney! ❤❤❤
great cover..thanks for this..its not all that clear on the original mono LP, but the 2018 SDE outtake shows how much vibrato George uses on this..and you nail it amazing!
One of the first Beatles guitar parts I played on electric and it’s always such a blast! I love that octave you’ve got down to a T!! And happy late birthday 🎉
I can’t wrap my head around how accurate your covers are. Reading the description and seeing how you notice the smallest of details like how John plays the wrong notes at one point just blows my mind and shows how passionate you are about this. Also do you have a record player, if so what is it? Cause I’m trying to get into collecting records and buying a first vinyl player.
Thanks so much! You’re too kind. I use an Audio-Technica LP120. I like to rip my vintage vinyl so I can listen to it digitally. And this turntable has a USB
Apart from the cool music, I like how you appear to be wearing period perfect attire: those striped pants and flowery shirt resemble George Harrison during the famous "mad day out" photoshoot, and the jean outfit what John Lennon was wearing around that time when he played Yer Blues with the Dirty Mac. Was this intentional or just a happy coincidence?
Awesome cover! I honestly still hold onto the belief that Paul was the lead guitarist due to certain factors that seem to point to him. But if I've learned one thing from the recently album remixes, it's that anything is possible. Do you think George could have played through the treble channel with the top boost switch on and the volume cranked up? It sounds almost a match to Keith Richard's tone on his "Sympathy for the Devil" solo.
Yeah to me it sounds like Les Paul into Conqueror distortion. I used my Casino with the exact same settings as Paul for my cover with Juo Det, in case you wanted to compare
Now that you mention it Sam, the lead part does sound more like the Les Paul than Paul's Casino. I don't know what to think now. I'd say it could go either way with who played bass. Now I'm curious, is it possible to closely match that tone on the Casino?
Check out my cover with Juo Det on his channel. I used the casino with exact same settings as this Les Paul I’m pretty convinced it was Paul on bass mostly because of how his voice and bass are centered together stereo in the outtake
@@sampopkin Well Paul's voice being in the center is because he was yelling pretty loud and it was bleeding quite a bit into the drum microphones. This can be heard by listening to the isolated drum track. As far as the identity of the bass player, I'm still 50/50. Especially after hearing you play it on the Casino; I think that might sound even closer to the record.
@@RingoStarr39 yeah that’s true, the bleed through makes it hard to tell. But for me what seals the deal is the original tape box lists paul on bass, John and george on guitars
@@sampopkin ok no problem, great playing though, it’s when you see it like this you realise how good these songs are, I’m from Liverpool and would spend hours in the cavern I was younger 🤙🏼
It makes sense, since there is definitely a regular 4 string bass too. I mentioned that because Lennon's part sounds really thick. Thanks for your replying!
happy late 30th birthday sam!!
It’s today!
Excellent 👍👍. I like the sound of the guitars separated in left and right ear.
All the best,

Your covers are what George would call a "soft touch" anyways happy birthday lol
Happy Birthday! Your covers inspired me to pick up the guitar and learn Beatles songs
Thank you! That means a lot
You should really do a collab with David Montis. Both of you are one of the best cover artists I've ever came across!
Thank you! We both collaborated on Jacob K’s channel. But will definitely have to do one on here

I just generally go for an outfit they might’ve worn in 68

Doctor Robert pedal into my 1965 Fender Bassman!

@@BobbyNutt so jealous you’re from Liverpool! I want to visit
Whose guitar was John’s, George’s or Paul’s?
George played les paul, John on Casino
Could it be that Lennon was playing the Fender VI?
It’s a popular theory, but I believe Paul played jazz bass. The lower harmony guitar is very John-esque sloppy
It makes sense, since there is definitely a regular 4 string bass too. I mentioned that because Lennon's part sounds really thick.
