TRUE. When Charlie first started YT, she actually talked about how she relates to Amberlynn binge monster and she comes off a LOT nicer too. But then she started her first reaction video, which blew up, and then she kept being meaner and more vile.
Everyone has skeletons in their closets, so does Charlie. It's very hypocritical for her to critize and bully others and justify that by saying that she is somehow relating/"seeing their demons" in herself. It's just plain gross.
So thank you for speaking out on this issue. People like to jump on the "Amberlynn sucks so I'll agree with anyone who criticizes her" wagon and there's nothing wrong with constructive criticism but Charlie is a straight out destructive bully

I have been involved in the "amberverse" for about 2 1/2 years now and while I do NOT give amber an INCH of sympathy I feel like all the reaction videos do is play into her victimhood complex that helps her justify her shitty actions. There's a few reaction channels that are funny, witty or thought provoking that call her out on her shit but then there's channels like Charlie. 1st Charlie just boring AF to me. Nothing she says or does is entertaining & being an unnecessary bitch is not a redeeming personality trait in my eyes. As a survivor of BOTH rape/domestic violence, when Amber falsely accused her ex of those things of any and all compassion, sympathy etc. Went right out the window for me. But in the big picture I don't want her to fail, I want her to gain some self awareness, humility so she can grow as a person, take some responsibility & lose some weight!
Finally someone said it!!! Charlie didn’t start out being so hateful but she turned into a bully. I really believe if you’re a strong woman, you should try to leave everyone better than you found them. I can’t imagine being an adult and bullying someone.
I hate the 'classy' that she gets called too. She's far from it, just because she's not a frothing forward asshole like other reactors doesn't mean she's classy. A better classy is just holding yourself to as high a standard as you can. Calling fat girls pigs and making fun of them, Charlie being 'classy' is just not true.
Charlie can easily just not be an asshole and not talk about other people's bodies, but she apparently can't help it because they're 'asking for it'. I don't buy that excuse. At all. No one should.

I originally subbed to CG because she wasn’t as mean as other reaction channels. She even complimented ALR and FB here and there and I thought that made her more credible. After watching this and a few other videos, I am kind of shocked that I didn’t see how bad she’d gotten.
So, I'm a former follower of Charlie Gold as well. I found her through Obese to Beast and My Thoughts Will Probably Offend You. Initially I really liked Charlie because I thought she provided a unique perspective of someone who didn't believe in the body positivity movement, and I wanted to watch her undergo her own personal weight loss journey. However, the more I started to watch her videos, the more I realized how mean she is. It's hard because I truly initially liked Charlie, but as her following has grown, she's just gotten worse. To the point where it makes me feel slimy listening to her. I haven't watched her videos in months, and I can't say I miss her particular brand of mean girl-ing. Amberlyn and Chantal aren't exactly my favorite people, but I also don't enjoy watching someone rip them apart for clout and monetary gain.
I would love to see her turn this around and create positive content and focus on her personal weight-loss journey, but I won't hold my breath. Being mean is too profitable. Great video. I'm happy people are starting to realize this isn't cool.

I agree wholeheartedly with all that you've said. I initially liked her as well for the same reason. Very quickly, all of a sudden, she became extremely rude and nasty. I had thought at first maybe she personally was going through a hard time with her mental health and daily life the first 2 videos I saw the sudden shift. Not that it would be ok if that was the case - I just mean it would make more sense in an attempt to deflect. Then she doubled down and acted disgusted over literally everything and anything these women said/did. Her moments of sharing how she relates and what she does to change those things became far and few between. Some time in between all of that she began nitpicking absolutely everything - even if it didn't make sense. Then there became an arrogant and "I'm above them" tone.
It truly became exhausting to listen or watch because it was just like a fire hydrant spewing hate and negativity. It became a burden. It wasn't something I felt good about watching, let alone entertained by it.
I do think if she works on herself and her mental health she has a chance to turn things around. I do think quite a bit of this is due to insecurities and deflections for parts of herself/her life. She's gotten stuck in the mob mentality and carrying on with some of these things because she can see others are laughing at the bullying behavior. It's like that kid in school who bullies others but is always looking around to see the reactions and for approval - once they see the reactions and attention they just keep going and going to a beyond excessive degree. They get sort of love drunk on the attention and power. It's really sad to watch in all aspects.
I truly hope she will take the time and these moments to do better. If she continues down this path she will never be happy no matter the success in any area.
Your story is pretty much my story. I found her through Obese to Beast as well and liked her because she seemed to have a good head on her shoulders, and her Dark Side of Obesity video was very heartfelt.
However, as I started watching her Amberlynn videos, I first got annoyed by her constantly talking about Amber's bra, and then eventually just plain disgusted when she started going to calling her a bloated whale and talking about cheese curds in her vagina.
It was really shocking how different she is in her reaction videos compared to the ones where she talks about her own journey.
When she's being negative it's almost like she's a totally different person.

When I first came across Charlie’s channel I thought she was funny and had a soothing voice but rapidly I began to see her true character: a hurt woman who disguises her pain through harshly criticizing others in a similar situation.
I don't understand why people find it entertaining, all her videos are just her obsessively talking / reacting about Chantel & Amber Lynn 🙄🤦♀️. Charlie has no other content but that.if she mixed it up a bit and talked about other things, like her own weight journey.....then maybe she'd have a better channel 🤷♀️.
What CG and the bullies refuse to acknowledge is that no matter what Amberlynn has done doesn't cancel out the wrongness of what they do. Being a bully, no matter who it is towards, is ugly. Period. I do ALR/weightloss/fitness reacts and found this perspective interesting. It will make me re-evaluate my knit picking and focus more on the health aspect and provide commentary on that. It can be frustrating though when somebody is destroying their health for views

I hardly make my bed, I definitely have binged, and my nails are jacked up right now but no one would come at me the way the do Amber.

I certainly don't defend Amber or Chantal but Charlie Gold is a huge hypocrite. The way she talks I thought she had lost a couple hundred pounds. Amber has lost 50 something pounds in a couple months and Charlie has lost 70 in four years. That high horse she's perched on must be exhausted.
You know she lost about 120 pounds? So she lost way more than FB and AR and is still losing.
ALR was almost 600 pounds loosing 50 pounds is like a normal person loosing 5 pounds. She’s been doing this bullshit for almost 4 years. If she was really “changing” her diet like she says her weight would fall off.

This is 2020. I used to be a haydur. Now I just don’t watch AL because she isn’t as entertaining as she was. Even though I was one to point out her flaws, I now see that it serves me no purpose to dedicate my life to obsessing about these women or anyone.

At the time, I was thinking maybe she was in a similar situation as John who lost a crap ton of weight. I kept coming back, looking forward to updates about her weight loss journey, looking for inspiration, but she offers nothing but personal attacks against ALR and Chantal. It's a bit sad because she has so much freakin potential to be a voice for a movement.

I look over on Charlie Golds channel periodically to see if she post any of her OWN workout videos or nutrition videos or what I eat in a day videos, and she still hasn’t made any type of update on HER health and eating habits , but she expects amber to do a weigh in everyday
As much as i saw so far, she got asked to do "What i eat in a day" videos but said it would be boring as she would not eat on camera (which i can understand) and it would just be photos. But i gotta say she does post Updates on her work outs and weight on instagram and i also saw some on twitter, just because they are not on youtube you can not say they are not there at all...just saying tho.

I watched a few of her videos and most of the time she’s just watching with a bland expression and then releases bits of monotone commentary here and there. If she had any energy or sense of humor like Zachary Michael, I’d be on board. If Zack shades, it is always light and not from a dark hateful place. When Charlie shades, it’s like she is just quietly seething hate. Her content is just not engaging. It’s ok to address lies or give advice or express frustration over Amberlynn and Chantal’s endless cycles and beg them to get help but Charlie openly fat-shames and uses cruel terms comparing these people to animals or calling them dirty etc. Those women are obviously in denial and in pain. I don’t support Charlie’s version of criticism. There is a way to react where you can be human and actually be creative and engaging with your content. It’s ok that Charlie’s fat and working on it, successfully or not. I just can’t subscribe to someone who resorts to cruel fat-shaming vocabulary towards people who are just doing what Charlie did in the very recent past and sometimes still does (any weight gain at Charlie’s current/recent weight requires compulsive/binge eating to some extent.) There are fitness youtubers who have done the work and critique AL and Chantal in a civil way. They are ripped and still kind. I think she is too smug to change her tactics, unfortunately. I hope she will. Perhaps she struggles with self loathing too? I hope she can extend more compassion to others in the future. AL and Chantal obviously have a lot of trauma underneath any personality issues. Being called Canadian Bacon etc does not serve to inspire or motivate a self-loathing person to get healthy.

To be fair, Charlie is probably the only ALR reactor that had already established a significant amount of subs before she started reacting to Amber. That's why she has so much more subs than the other reactors who have been around longer than her. Not defending her, by the time Charlie came round I was already sick of all the alr reaction channels so never watched her, but saying Charlie would be nothing without Amber is not true.

I think I needed time to reflect on this because Charlie used to be the person I go to to react to ALR's videos because it was a motivation for me not to fall into self-indulgence; and rather have a reaction channel breakdown ALR's content for me than watching her videos directly. and to be completely honest, the reason why I continued watching Charlie is because I can sense her empathy in her videos and she does have some good points along the way but I found myself not being able to finish watching her more recent videos because it doesn't feel right and it feels like it's fueled from hatred, especially to Chantal. I do hope she seek help though, I feel like she needs someone to keep her accountable. thank you for sharing this video this way, although I came into this with my own preconceptions, the way you approached the matter made me more open to what you have to share.

Then she went quiet when that TH-cam channel was made to attack her, and then came back on the scene still doing reactions and being mean and I was like you know what I’m done.
