I love everything VP does but when they strip it down like this to basic a cappella it just hammers home how talented they are. And Deejay doing MJ? Perfection!
Geoff's arrangement is so intricate and sultry! There is so much going on, I almost missed Geoff's riffs after the beat boxing started. Deejay is such a great addition. Geoff said it only took him two hours to record his part, and that probably included doubling it. This is definitely one of my favorites.
Geoff is the master of stripping back and yet filling the space. Such a simple piece of work and yet so much happening. I’m impressed the pause count wasn’t higher. Well done Jen
I had two things in mind, when watching VPs video the first time: 1) The arrangement is like a reminder "Yeah, we still can do it his way!", because this rendition is more "typical straight acapella" - especially after the more theatrical "Classical Chaos" or the songs with more effects, filters, etc. (like "Black Hole Sun" or "Sleeping in the cold below" e.g.). I like the lounge-like groove and the jazzy vibes they chose. And of course is Deejay the perfect match for any MJ song. 2) The second thought was: "I think, this one will be a great one for Jen!" 😁- I had the feeling, that you will like this video particularly. It's peppered with so many vocal specialties. 🥰
1:53 Best hair out of all the major acapella groups if not all music (in my opinion) haha! Love his frohawk he suits it so well and it fits his sass and personality perfectly! 🤘🏻
Makes me happy to see someone else being able to pick out a Geoff vs Layne arrangement. They both have some subtle differences that are neat to pick up on.
Someone called Geoff as an upright bass in this, and it's gorgeous. A perfect platform for DeeJay's delicious voice. Is this their best ever? Depends on taste I suppose. But it's very very cool.
Gosh, been distracted away from here for too long! Seeing your lovely face again is like meeting up with a good friend after too much time passed. Watching you again as your superbly trained ear overwhelms you by catching so much all at once while folks like me have to re-listen and re-focus to appreciate what's happening. Excellent performance (duh!). Brilliant reaction Jen!
I tend to think of this arrangement from Geoff as a jazz version of the song, and in keeping with that, he seems to be trying to sound more like a string/standing bass than the bass guitar he often emulates. And after the beatboxing starts, Geoff starts some sort of walking bass line that REALLY sounds like a string bass! Never would have thought of slowing down the entire song like this, but it really seems to work well!
❤❤❤❤❤ (5) loves for your reaction. I agree this has become one of my top VoicePlay favorites. Beautifully arranged with plenty of ear-candy to enjoy each and every time I listen to it. Thanks for pointing out a few things I missed previously. It is one of the reasons I come to hear your reactions; plus I also gain from your knowledge on the vocals. Have a wonderful day.
i think what the criticisers don't understand is there's a difference between DJ's 'thin' - thin but easy and still well supported - and a 'bad thin' - thin and strained. DJ makes it look and sound SO easy... and it's NOT.
This, "True Colors," and "I Can't Help Falling in Love" really show off just how talented these guys are. The costumes and sets work so well because their voices are SO incredible, and it's important to be reminded of that from time to time. Deejay does SUCH a good MJ, I really want him to do "Thriller" with VP. I know we got a Halloween-esque song already, but... I mean, we could ALWAYS have more Halloween music. And more MJ. Plus imagine VP doing the dance in fully zombie makeup!
Patty Cake pretty much already filled that space with "Bump in the Night" so I'd be surprised if they did Thriller. Still their Halloween projects are always fun and I really look forward to them.
I love VP and when they get down to basics like with this song ~ magic happens. JNone's voice suits this one so well. The harmonies are wicked good too. I agree that Ceasar's hair slaps. Great reaction and analysis again Jen
Not true! There's no clear pattern/trend of which ends Geoff and Layne sit/stand at, although it is true that in more of the recent videos, Geoff has been on the left side of screen and Layne on the right side. *However*, Geoff and Layne have also been at the right and left sides (respectively) in Drunken Sailor, Creep, In The Air Tonight, Golden Hour, Enemy, Valhalla Calling, and the Wicked Medley/A Chance To Fly
You are really missing out by not giving Lucy Thomas a listen. Her version of "Memory" from Cats will knock your socks off (as will pretty much ANYTHING she sings). Lucy is massively unappreciated here!
I was scrolling through your reactions and haven’t seen you react to Lucy Thomas as of yet. Truly a generational talent. She does covers but when she does they become the best cover. Look her up. I’ll subscribe if you do 😂
Hi again Jen. Just in case you missed my last 3 posts, please don’t forget Amira who’s now 20 & doing her Batchelor of Music at Pretoria university. Her latest releases are “ Down From His Glory “. and “ Amen “. Also , “ Phantom of the Opera “. Would appreciate you’re reactions. Cheers Graeme
If you have requested something 3 times, she saw it after the first one. She'll do it or she won't - but either way, a lot of people request things, and badgering her about it is not an OK thing to do.
@@camannwordsmithFirstly, Jen gets so many comments, it’s quite possible she HASN’T seen them. Secondly, if you think this is badgering, stop being so precious and thin skinned. My comments were polite & in a manner appropriate.
No, she's in her own league! But either way - when she sings a bit of the song she's usually illustrating something for us that they did. I, for one, appreciate the way she can point certain things out that I might otherwise miss. Like an unusual harmony or a particular mouth shape or vocal technique. Now, I admit that there are reactors who just sing along and cover-up the sound with their own. I just don't feel that is what Jen is doing.

The Layne, Cesar duet is fun.
For sure!
Makes me happy to see someone else being able to pick out a Geoff vs Layne arrangement. They both have some subtle differences that are neat to pick up on.
😁
I understand they'll be throwing in some Eli reactions for you to pick out, too!

Such an incredibly tasty arrangement, and so well performed. It gets better the more one listens to it.
I was waiting for more people to react to this another masterpiece by Voiceplay.
I don't know why, but I've noticed a lot of reactors are not covering them anymore !😢

New favorite, love the arrangement and the presentation - simple focus on the music

LOVE the jazz influences! Sound like that includes some improv bits, not just with DeeJay but maybe with Eli and Geoff, too.

The intro of the beatboxing was just perfect
The song was as much fun as watching you react to it! ❤️🤗
Haha thank you!
Wonderful reaction!
Hello Jen ,I’m just watching your reaction to Voiceplay’s The way you make me feel.Brilliant
Another great reaction video, Jen. Thanks.
DeeJay is channeling Michael. Proof of the afterlife, right here in a VoicePlay video. :)
Thanks
Love this song and reaction
I love this, think it’s gonna be one of my many VP favourites too. Enjoyed your reaction and analysis a lot, as always!
Hi Jennifer hope you are having an great and awesome day ❤️
Fabulous! Thanks Jen 😊

Yes!! Spot on😁
Yep. This one is special. ❤
Definitely 😁
I was hoping you’d get to this. Always happy to see you.
It bugs me how much you slice and dice, but I love how it bugs me.😊 I learn more from just five minutes of you than from a semester from anyone else.
These guys! These guys can't be denied!!!! And Girl -- you get into it....... Love it! : ) Be Safe

Another good work dear Jennifer!! Like 95, and I'm subscribed!🎸
Thank you!
Just when you think it’s all wound down … they smack us in the ears!
Love this… 🥰

Oops! No J None here!
❤️❤️
This is more bluey than the original by Michael Jackson, this version is so interesting with their chords progression.
WAIT A MINUTE! Lane is on the left and Geoff is on the right side! That's never happened before, except for "In my Room"

We need more Layne/Cesar duets, dammit. :)

They are definatley Smooth Operators...

Would love for you to react to Aespa's new song 'Armaggedon' their voices are amazing and the song is also quite good loving your reactions
Deejay slays me! I feel deadish after every listen to this song and I don't even really like MJ, lol.
you are adorable
Super sexy all over the place by all of them!

I wish you wouldn’t try to sing and match VoicePlay. You can’t!! You’re not In their league.
