I'm severely overweight and I've been working out alone for a couple months. My friend invited me to a crossfit class and I was so nervous. I really thought I wouldnt be able to finish or keep up. I didnt do as much lifting weight as them, but I kept up and finished it! It was the worst thing I've ever done, but also the best. I signed up for a couple more classes

I am the same I've been doing crossfit for a while now 4 years and honestly it has helped me a lot i really enjoy it and love that it's always a different workout never the same it encourages me to keep going and i hope that you'll enjoy it too. Ps many say that you get easily injured in crossfit but its more about knowing your limits when doing anything heavy and perfecting the more difficult exercises, I can say that I've never gotten injured i started when i was 12 years old with a small 30 pound bar and now im 16 and today i did my 1 rep max of clean and jerk and got to 225 pounds i was really surprised it made me realize all the progress I've made since I started, and sorry it's a bit long i went off 😂 but good luck i hope you enjoy it.

Thank you all again!

So I been trying CrossFit. Here’s my take:
It’s weirdly addicting. He’s right, you have to be a little crazy to keep wanting to torture your body like that. It’s definitely a euphoric feeling, like at some point you feel pleasure when the pain hits your muscles on those large volume movements. I know.. shit is freaky but I’ll be honest that’s what I experienced. After the workout you feel amazing(except the first couple sessions, my body was literally immobile after trying snatches for the first time in a while 😂). After a week rest, I was back at it, and I haven’t felt that type of soreness again. Idk man, it feels fucking good to massage those muscles and omg stretching. It’s another type of euphoria I can’t explain it 😂.Y’all be safe though, Matt has a point. There’s a lot of technical movements in CrossFit, and it’s not safe to do them at the point of extreme fatigue because your body naturally compensates and your technique goes to shit, increasing risk to injury. I suggest having a coach/ knowing your boundaries to keep yourself safe. Lower weights and reps on difficult movements. Learn the basics first before doing an all out sprint metcon, you’ll die bruh. What’s cool is that there’s ways to get the work in no matter what level you are. Can’t do pull ups? Well there’s a lot of variations that decrease in difficulty, so you can still work those muscles at an easier difficulty until you can do full pull ups. Y’all get me ?😂
Conclusion: do I recommend CrossFit to beginners who know nothing about their bodies/ body mech/ strength limits.... NO.
I feel like you gotta have some basic knowledge about movement and exercise. Get your coordination right man, it’s the key to everything, It’s so easy to break your shit with CrossFit. Know your limits, and work within them. Be safe y’all.

  • @BarelyInsanity

I love when Matt said , so many people work in the gym look good but aren’t functional at all. Can’t jump, run, lack mobility, etc. I’m at a gym where it’s functional fitness so the mix is CrossFit style, Olympic lifts, body weight/military workouts. Very fun cuz I get old lifts like bench but I get to do cleans, snatches, and other movements that challenge me. Finally learned rope climb and got a muscle up too. I’m a lot lighter than my big boy lifting days and I’ll take the trade off. Back then I could squat 565 but couldn’t do a pull-up to run a good mile non stop. Now I can run, do pull ups, lift still strong, and just be mobile. Good technique, no ego lifting. Also like any sport, there will be injuries, doesn’t mean you stop lifting or exercising. That being said, I’ve never been injured doing similar to CrossFit training. Only playing casual basketball hahaha ;( rip acl
