Hey there, just stumbled across your channel. We've been in the Green industry over 30 years and I remember the early days. You are correct, what you dont make in profit you gain in experience. It wont be long and you'll start having growing pains. One of the best things we did was to hire a girl to take calls and schedule. We make sure she's happy and business keeps piling up.
Happy to have you along for the ride. I’m sure if I continued to grow this business have a gal to answer the phones would do wonders, though I have since moved on to other things to focus more on my family as this was only my side business I did on weekends.
First off, the chevys exhaust brake is weak compared to rams exhaust brake as well. Second, great video. You look like a natural on that machine. You left a nice finished result. These types of videos should do your channel well. Your video quality is really coming together as well. I do miss seeing what you bid the job for and your profits made. I think people like seeing that. Keep up the great work.
Update: just seen your reel explaing cost and profits. lol. It would still be nice seeing them in the same video. But I get the need to have content spread out.
Thanks much, I appreciate the comment and feedback. Yea, all the trucks have their strong points and their flaws for sure like anything. The Barreto was fun to operate and also made light work of the job, though I did hand dig quite a few places near the house and to get the finished grade a little smoother. But overall I’m happy with the finished product as was the customer. I charged $1,200 and between dump fees and the equipment rental I ended up making $500 for the day. That said, it was an 11 hour day between everything so I probably should have charged a bit more. The customer was elated at the price and work though and will be hiring me to do his backyard and the other strip in front and I knew price was a strong consideration so for me I was happy to do the work and learn a bit more about this stuff. I guess it’s a win win and now I have more confidence to bid these kinds of jobs.
Yes, you certainly were very cheap. But you are smart in that you bid cheap in the beginning because you know the experience you will gain from a job like this will give you that confidence to not only bid more of these jobs, but it will give you a better understanding of your true worth and abilities. And that’s when you will make a more accurate estimate for these types of jobs. Keep up the good work. I enjoy seeing you grow.
That will be a good workhorse for you! I almost bought the gasser as well but in the end wanted the extra braking power of an exhaust brake. It was a hard choice though, they are both great engines in my opinion. Good luck with your business!
If you ever look into buying another trailer and want to stay below the 10,000 gvwr you should look into Diamond C trailers. I just bought one from a dealer in acampo by Lodi. It’s the medium dump trailer comes with two 6k axles a telescopic lift which is the strongest lift on dump trailers. 12 foot by 6.5 foot. The trailer gvwr is 9980 but with the two 6k axles you can obviously go above it without to much worry. I love the trailer so far used it for the first time today and it dumped like a champ. So many good features on it in my opinion they are far ahead in the trailer game than any other trailer company I’ve seen.
@christianortiz6956 lol that is insane I paid 10,500 for my 7×14×4 14k dump trailer cali is a rip off. I had to go to Florida to get mine. The dealer can deratw a 16k trailer to less than 10k if you want you just need to ask
@@JackofHaulTrades yeah I looked in Texas and Arizona and Oregon and found cheaper trailers of the same type just after I drove and did everything the cost was roughly the same as just going and buying it from close. I was going to get a 14k de rated but in California if you derate a trailer and are caught towing above what you derated to it’s a huge fine from what I learned.
@@RollingWithRusssee, you could finance that machine for $30k. Your payment would work out to be $5-600 a month. Now all you need is one of this jobs a month to cover the payment and expenses, then the rest is profit. Write the machine and its expenses off on your taxes. Now you are cooking!! These mini skid steers have so many attachments that you could really advance your business. For example, a grapple would expedite your junk removals. It’s endless what you can do with these things.
Looks great! Keep up the great work. Enjoying watching your channel grow.
Appreciate you watching and commenting! It’s been a fun journey the last 13 months and I feel as though I am just getting started still :)

@@wannabtrucker9634 Thank you very much. In my opinion, there is no substitute for experience. I appreciate your support!

I'm digging the set-up. Looking to do something similar. I just got the same truck with the 7.3 gas. Thanks for sharing and all the best. ❤

Thanks very much! I hear Diamond C are top of the line, sounds like a really nice setup! Do you mind sharing roughly how much it cost?
@@RollingWithRuss for mine it was 14,500 before tax. I purchased it from “The Trailer Specialist” in acampo.

What is your tow vehicle?
Great work and beautiful truck!
But you did dent his stucco at 24:30 when ripping out a stump
Thank you so much!
Good info. Well put together video
Thanks, Chris!
Great job Reese! Looks like you are finding a niche. Material Hauling and heavy equipment work. VERY profitable and looks like fun!
Thanks! It was a ton of fun and I definitely enjoyed the challenge.
These stand on skid steer are amazing I rented a dingo and I got my dump trailer that is a money making setup $
No kidding! They are like hiring 4-5 strong helpers for the price of one!
Sweet good job 💪
Right on, thank you!
looks mint
It only had 37 hours on it!
Nice setup. Where did you get your tarp kit?
It actually came on my LoadTrail trailer. I just unbolted it and moved it up after building up the wood sides, it was pretty easy.
Man what a difference a dump trailer makes! How much was the charge to rent the mini skid?
No kidding! It was only $290 plus tax for a day rental, not bad at all. Only had 37 hours on it when I picked it up so it was hardly broken in!

Imagine if you had land to drop it on
It would have been way more profitable
Why did you delete my comment? Your funny 😂😂😂
If I did it must have been on accident. My bad! I have never deleted a comment I thought.
