  • Treatment for sciatica can be highly confusing for people, and it's very frustrating to suffer with sciatica problems longer than anybody should. I'm going to cover with you today the top seven do's and don'ts of sciatica treatment at home.
    If your problem is lasting way too long, don't hesitate to call somebody like a specialist physical therapist who's an expert at helping this problem, especially non-surgically, without medications or injections.
    Ask for help, find out what needs to be done. It's surprising for most people sometimes because it's just a short amount of treatments, despite it being extremely painful to correct a problem with sciatica pelvic related problem or a pinched problem.
    Sometimes it can be more especially if there's a herniated disc involved, or multiple problems throughout the pathway of the sciatic nerve. But getting expert help is a sure way to get the problem to reduce on a consistent basis. It makes sure to get the problem as close to 100% better, rather than settling at 50, 60, or 70%.
    Here at El Paso Manual Physical Therapy, we are pushing every client to reach their full potential for improvement for any sciatica problem they come in for.

    Everything you talked about is absolutely correct! I have been going to a facility to be assisted with my stretching routine. Overstretching can be bad (so i found out the hard way). SCIATICA SHOWED ITS UGLY HEAD ugh. What you said about no stretching makes sense. Ive been going to my physical therapist and he has been using ultrasound on me as well as having me do the knee to chest stretch ONLY. I also use the recumbent bike. 😅 Ice is my best friend right now!! The struggle is REAL 😢😢😢😢

    I went to a highly recommended chiropractor, and after a glance at my MRI, he said he couldn’t help me - that I had too many issues.He said that he could make me worse. Soooooo to whom should I go? I’m in southern Arizona.

    ✍ Hello...I've been watching you for sometime now cause I'm dealing with Arthritis as well as Sciatica of the left hip,thigh,knee, calf and ankle. It all started the 2nd of January I got a really bad case of the Flu and was so sick I was in bed for about 7 weeks and during that time is when the Sciatica started. It was so bad I had to use a walker cause I could not put any weight on that left leg without almost screaming cause it was so painful. Dr referee me to an Orthopedic Dr and he did some X-Rays and found the Arthritis in my pelvis, tailbone area,hips and knee( which I had Arthroscopic surgery on in '04 I 'm seeing a Physical Therapist twice a week but still in pain. Does Sciatica Ever Go Away? I'm so miserable and pray to God constantly for healing🙏 Thank You for all the quality information you give us. God Bless Bye from Ohio

    Another great video. Question about the strengthening of the buttocks. Sometimes I get so tight especially at The piriformis area that the only thing that releases it is muscle relaxer. And I think it's from so much tension on the sciatic nerve. Sometimes the tension is so bad it feels like a rubberband going from my lumbar area to my big toe
    How can I be sure that when I'm clenching the buttocks, how to isolate to just the glute area?

    • @epmanualphysicaltherapy
      @epmanualphysicaltherapy  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Karen! We are sorry to hear that you are dealing with occasional tightness in the piriformis area - as you mentioned, it can be due to the sciatic nerve issue you're experiencing. Also, keep in mind that your piriformis will always be involved when squeezing the glutes to some extent so it is unrealistic for it to not get involved at all.
      We are not sure if you've come across this video yet but just in case you haven't focus on doing this to strengthen the glutes - you can skip to exercise #3 & #5:
      "Top 5 Sciatica Exercises You Need to Try *Long-Term Pain Relief*"
      th-cam.com/video/P0JOh8DuFns/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared
      When doing this try to find the right intensity at which to hold so that it is not causing you pain and making things worse.
      We hope this helps! 🙌

    I am doing cardio, walking in own pace stationary, and from side to side steps again my own pace. Swinging of arms, with side steps. Is this ok?

    • @epmanualphysicaltherapy
      @epmanualphysicaltherapy  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey there, great question! However, it is hard to answer accurately because it depends on how these movements are being performed. It is very important to use your glutes often whenever you have sciatica pain. Generally speaking, if it makes you feel better its probably good. Here is a video that helps to teach how to use your glutes properly while walking in case you would be interested:

      @@epmanualphysicaltherapy Thank you for your reply, gave My glutes squeeze a try, and front lower pelvic squeeze, and immediate , relief from pain was felt. My sciatica activated when I got shingles two years ago. Was told by GP not to do any form of exercise, for Eighteen to Twenty months. Was very active playing golf. I have returned to both cardio exercises and slowly returning to golf, my muscle weakness is gone, but my glutes are slowly returning to normal. Thank You for Your kindness, and concern, in responding to Me. God Bless.
