Good you stated that Kvikk lunch is better than a KitKat.... Giving it a 7 will almost ban you from travelling to Norway again, the government is very strict! Prefering KitKat would have given you a 20 year ban! 🤪

The writing on the Kvikk Lunsj wrapper is probably "Fjellvettreglene",
which translates to "The mountain code" which is a set of guidelines that'll keep you safe when hiking in the mountains.
These are the rules in english:
    1. Plan your trip and inform others about the route you have selected.
    2. Adapt the planned routes according to ability and conditions.
    3. Pay attention to the weather and the avalanche warnings.
    4. Be prepared for bad weather and frost, even on short trips.
    5. Bring the necessary equipment so you can help yourself and others.
    6. Choose safe routes. Recognize avalanche terrain and unsafe ice.
    7. Use a map and a compass. Always know where you are.
    8. Don’t be ashamed to turn around.
    9. Conserve your energy and seek shelter if necessary.

Fun Fact: Some say, the 24-square size of the large 200g Norwegian chocolate bars is because of Christmas..A pocket-sized advent calendar😊 One square for every day of advent. Though, it can be very hard sticking to that, if we do do this.. Freia also has experimented a bit lately- our little Clovers have been Special Editioned with flavours like Orange-Sea Salt and Coffee😉 As for the plain milk, even crazier combos are seasonally available. So, I mix them up with a bit of Cadbury` s, Tobler or Fazer - from Finland- when and if i can. They are all Et lite stykke Norge..A Little Piece of Norway🤩 In a way, so are Nidar` s Stratos , Troika and Hobby too. Depends , where in Norway you happen to find yourself. Freia's bird logo
Each and every chocolate piece of Freia milk chocolate is decorated with the Marabus stork symbol. This logo originates from a competition organized by Freia in 1907, which involved decorating a cake box. The winner of the competition was retoucher Oscar Carl Augen Kristoffersen (1884-1908).

no one each btown cheese as snacks:) you eag it on a slice of bread or crackers witv butter. many use some jam on top. the one you choose is the mildest and sweetest from cow milk.. originsl brown cheese is made from goat milk and has a distinct sharp taste.

4:29 - the bird is a Marabou stork, symbol of our largest chocolate company, Freia. Also the name of the biggest chocolate producer in Sweden, which is closely related to ours. I love that you actually broke the "fingers" off to eat one at a time, the proper way! We´ll get a hizzy fit up here when people try to take a bite out of the entire plate ;)
5:48 - My favourite type of chips! Yeah, they are "high quality" if you´d like to call fatty, salty snacks quality ;) You should really try "Spansk paprika" though, they´re even better than this one IMO. If you want Norwegian tradition, I´d say you need Maarud´s "Ost & Løk" though. They´re cheese and onion flavour, and a very popular "staple" snack in Norway :)

12:25 - yeah, Reindeer are farmed for eating, and we have a lot of Moose that´s very good eating as well. Whale is not all that common, but sure, some people like that as well. It´s mammal meat, like a steak, but with a weird fishy taste as far as I´m concerned. Whenever you see "Viking" on any package in Norway, well that´s a sure sign that it´s for tourists... That does not include any museums or attractions otherwise.
14:53 - Bamse+mums means something along the lines of Bear yummies. Every kid in this country has gotten sick on these! You just want more and more, until you´ve suddenly had enough that they want out again...

Great review. A good selection of popular Norwegian snacks.
Kvikk Lunsj (quick lunch) is probably the most Norwegian thing there. It's far superior to Kitkat because the chocolate is better as you noticed. Norwegians are proud of that. Norwegians typically have them when they go on their many long walks.
One thing. You missed out on salty liquorice. Very popular in Norway. Not to everyone's taste but I love it.

0:44 - what do you mean? Crossover between Norway and Sweden or between NI and Norway? As a Norwegian, I don´t think we have a lot of common ground when it comes to any kind of foodstuff. I mean, we buy a lot of our snacks in Sweden, but the border shops are more Norwegian than Swedish in and of themselves. In general, I think it´s fair to say that the Swedish taste is a lot more towards the sweet, whilst Norwegians often prefer sour or salty.

Solo is like you say an orange soft drink that taste much like Fanta. A life hack, if you are into soft drinks, but don't want all the sugar ... and don't want to use a fortune on buying the stuff, go to a typical norwegian supermarket and buy a bottle of Fun Light with orange taste. Then poor a little of it in a glass and add carbonized water, either from bottles bought in the supermarket, or even better from one of those carboniser machines. That will taste just like Solo / Fanta and is sugar free.

Lastly just because you “see it everywhere” doesn’t make it popular. Norway is a tiny country, and we have very little variety or selection of goods, especially foods and snacks/candy, unless special shops, or immigrant shops, therefore we have few brands and not much to choose from. What I hate about living here. It’s just that every grocery store has the most common brands, and the only thing that varies from each store is the selection of especially chips/crisps. So everyone knows their stores lol. We also often have 3+ grocery stores at the same location so you can get all the brands you prefer🤣🤣🤣 I live in Oslo and we have like Coop, Kiwi and Rema 1000, plus Joker and Bunnpris to choose from in regards to grocery stores in my neighborhood. Meny which is the most expensive one besides Joker, is in the neighboring area.

Norwegian here. Never saw brown cheese as “snacks” ever lol. We always eat that with either a slice of bread or with waffles. Calling is cheddar, but sweet tho… nah. Almost sounds like an insult of some kind😝 Of course it’s individual how you wanna enjoy this cheese, but if you want it the authentic way, on a slice of bread or on your waffle is how it’s done. It’s also much better straight out of the fridge. You don’t want it too out for too long so it gets wet and sticky. That’s just gross. We have various types of this type of caramelized brown cheese. Very traditional.
    Fun fact:
All Brits are as high as 24% Scandinavian, mostly of Norwegian decent due to the Norse settlers recent genetic study show.
My bf is Icelandic and he’s part Irish. Icelanders even have “Celtic skin”. Also when they 1st settled Iceland from Western Norway, no woman wanted to come with, so they stopped over in Dublin, which was a viking settlement at the time, and female slaves to take with them. Also the very 1st people to settle Iceland was actually Irish monks who were killed when the Norse arrived, luckily they left their livestock for the invaders to have. Iceland also have many Celtic place names.

Cool that you liked Norwegian foods 👍 I saw somewhere online that Norway is actually known for really boring food, and im not sure how they came to that conclusion. I guess some of the traditional dishes can be a bit bland (or even distasteful like boiled cod, torskerogn, lungemos, smalahove, and syltelabber) compared to more flavorful foods with a lot of spices, but what kinda weirdo doesnt like fårikål, pinnekjøtt, ribbe, kjøttkaker, pork chops, or "flesk i duppe"? 💀
