Clem Conger was in protocol at the State Department at the time of JBK's time in the White House and was not involved in any way, shape or form with the Kennedy era restoration. He later came to advise Mrs. Nixon on how best to DISMANTLE Jackie's work and replace it with the stiff, museum-like coldness still in place 45 years later. He often referred to Jackie as "that naughty girl." Mrs. Kennedy used the best historians at the time, including H.F. du Pont and a committee of 12 of America's best art experts to guide her in the White House work. Clem Conger was self-taught and NOT a professional decorator or historian, although he held the position of White House and State Department curator for decades. Nancy Reagan finally pushed him out. Miss Quinn is misinformmed on that point.
