    What I particularly appreciate about your channel is the glimpses into the history of the places you visit. Love the general relaxed vibe of the channel too and the music.

      That's so good to hear, and exactly the feel we are aiming for. We took our favourite features of narrowboat vlogs that we watched and tried to incorporate in our own, and it's sort of developed from there 😊

    This retired expat living in Canada wants to thank you again for a wonderful and entertaining video. The visuals and sounds always make my weekend mornings feel peaceful and calm. I also watch a couple of your narrowboats friends and do so enjoy it when you have your meet ups. Thank you for taking me back "home" for a visit and update. Love from Brigitt 👍🇨🇦

      That’s so lovely to hear Brigitt! And that’s exactly the feeling we aim for. We loved watching ‘home’ when we were living overseas for so long, and BBC Radio 2 was our radio station of choice every day. Kept us connected a little with the news, weather and even the traffic news 😂 😊

    Another lovely vlog, the freedom of movement the car offers is totally worth Petes efforts to retrieve, I hope old man Hamish is doing better the boys said he was having a rough time of it on their vlog, they did mention he seemed to have picked up?
    Thank you for allowing us along your travels and take care.
    Cheers Brian.

      You're so welcome Brian, we love that you can join us by the power of TH-cam! Hamish is doing much better now. He had a run of days with a very upset stomach and really wasn't himself. We took him to the vet, and they gave him some probiotics which worked a treat, and did some blood tests just to make sure. She actually said he's looking and doing so well for his age which was good to hear. We are thankful for every day we have with him now 😊

    Hi Pete & Caroline I just want to say that I appreciate all of your blogs of your journey on your lovely narrow boat and how much hard work that is done on editing all of your blogs and putting a thumbnail title to each blog before putting them out onto your wonderful channel. Would you both consider doing a live chat blog where people can join and ask you both questions about living on the boat or even just to say something nice about your Chanel? I know other TH-camrs who also live on a narrow boat have done it in the past and has been extremely nice to join in with the live chat.

    • @onedaymoreaboard
      @onedaymoreaboard  ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      That's so lovely of you to say Joe! We have quite often had the chat about doing a live chat, but have always shied away from it so far! Perhaps it's time to just do it, and get over that fear! We are approaching 20K subscribers now, something we never dreamed we would do, so perhaps a live chat could be our celebration when we reach that goal! I have moderated a chat for Narrowboat Life Unlocked, so sort of know how the behind the scenes worked, but could get Paul to show me a little more of the set up. We will definitely be doing a Q&A in February that has been delayed and delayed far more than we would have liked. Watch this space! 😊

    Hello Pete and Caroline, another peaceful and informative vlog. We did our canal presentation on Friday to a good crowd but it was very difficult. A portion of it includes a lot of photos from our four month canal trip in 2016 with our two Havanese puppies. There are many photos of our pups on the boat but we had had to put our beautiful Miss Toque to sleep on Tuesday. We managed to hang it together but the pain was just too raw to really do it justice.

      Oh no, we are are so sorry to hear your sad, sad news 😢. It's such a hard decision to have to make, and to then have your talk with all the photos. I can just imagine how hard that was. I can't ever change our outro on our videos, as there's Jasper, sat in his spot enjoying boat life, and that's how we will always remember him. Hugs to you both ❤️

    Great job by, Pete on the bike for the car collection, looks too much like hard work to me but I think I'm a tad older than Pete. Always adore seeing the dogs, the lovely nosey, Poppy and my favourite old guy, Hamish. BTW is he Ok Only I heard he wasn't too well!

    • @onedaymoreaboard
      @onedaymoreaboard  วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      That was probably one of the longest journeys back to get the car, and you’re right he didn’t a great job! Not the most towpath friendly bike so it was a good job there were quite a few good paths. Poppy is definitely our nosey crew member, always keeping a look out for us! Hamish had a few days of a bad stomach and was just not himself, back at the start of the year, but we took him to the vet and she prescribed some probiotics and did some blood tests and declared him as very healthy and looking good for his age! He’s back his usual slow but pensive self now 😊

The vet took some blood to and declared him in very good health for his age, which was very reassuring. He will be 16 in March 😊

    Like you we continually cruise. 5 years now. We sold our car 4 years 6 months ago, the best of bestest thing we ever did. We either train or Uber and it’s still cheaper than tax, mot,insurance, and going back for a car. Also all the mileage was from moving it, we hardly ever used it. If you work I understand having a car, but if not then you have all the time in the world , so no rush. We’ve had shopping drops at the most remote places, and people say ooh I have old family? I’m sure then they could ,like us rent a car. Try it you’ll never look back. We’re around Birmingham now and it’s a giggle watching people trying to park in a city( having to be up at 6am to move it 😳crazy)
    Ps I don’t think bestest is a word😂.
    Happy cruising

    • @onedaymoreaboard
      @onedaymoreaboard  2 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      I like to think that bestest is a word 😂 I think while Pete is still working and has unexpected last minute meetings that crop up, then it's a necessary inconvenience right now, but it did feel so freeing to leave it behind for almost 3 weeks when we headed down the Gloucester & Sharpness and back again. I'm always backwards and forwards to my mum every few weeks too, so for now it stays, but who knows what the future holds. We have so many friends, like you, that make it work, and hire when they need a car or use coordinate with public transport 😊

    We moored just after Caldwell Lock too. One hop for us from Worcester Railway Bridge. We ate at The Watermill. We previously stayed there overnight on our way to a weekend holiday boat trip on the Brecon canal. Next stop M and S across the car park - carefully avoiding shopping trolleys!

      Glad we could bring back some memories! Thankfully we didn't encounter any of the shopping trollies we had been warned about in the canal! But with so many supermarkets close by I'm not surprised that it's an issue with people having 'fun' with them 🙄

    • @trevorburridge7785

      @ £5 deposit might crystalise minds. CRT could achieve an additional revenue stream fishing them out. When we set off again I did notice we were bows over a trolley. So reversed back initially to leave. I am surprised we didn’t catch you up. But we left on the Stourbridge Canal or we might have passed you. Looking forward to what must be an Electric bike by the look of Pete’s anguish on the old one and his grin as the doors rose.

    Once again really nice to see our local canal. You were so close to us when you stopped for water! Over the last 20+ years we have walked our dogs towards Stourport and the other way to Wolverley many times.
    I remember seeing the boat you showed by Tesco that was clad in wood. Looked like they were doing it up, with all the ballast on the back. They were there quite a while, went and came back.
    Shame about the graffiti, really let's the side down 😢
    Wondered where you found to leave the car. There are sometimes vehicles in the locked area by the services.

      So close Tanya! We left the car in Wolverley, in the pub car park across the canal, with their permission, but it seems like that's a popular parking spot for walkers and visitors to the area anyway. Graffiti seems to be so commonplace these days anywhere where the canal goes through a town or city. Very sad to see 🙁

    I think not having a car would be best but if you need it, you need it. Of course, if there was an emergency a vehicle could be everything and that is true for any boater. It's a sunny 39F here and it looks like the awful cold is behind us. Are you still over here? Éowyn is terrible. I know there has been terrible storms for quite a long time but this one sounds like the worst of all. Winds like that would be terrifying. Hope everyone is OK. ❤

    • @onedaymoreaboard
      @onedaymoreaboard  ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

      That is sort of where we are at Dorothy, we would like not to need it, but for now it's a necessary inconvenience, but we make the most of the journeys back to pick it up, and see it as part of our adventure. Pete has been keeping the boat and the dogs and the boat safe during the storm, and moved fro our favourite mooring spot at Blakemere to be clear of the tree coverage. He sent video of the very choppy waves on the normally still canal and the wind howling, but we came through it unscathed thankfully. A couple of trees down across the canal again, but we are in no hurry to move off anywhere soon. Wisconsin has warmed up slightly but had been beautifully sunny, if extremely cold, very deceiving when you look out of the window! 😊

      We have to admit that having a car during the winter months has made boat life a lot easier. We have used it to transport the cassettes to be emptied and filling up water cubes when we've been frozen in, and driving to pick up coal when the fuel boat has been held up. For now, it's a necessary inconvenience and we just treat the journeys to pick up the car as part of the adventure 😊
