I am inspired by the fact that you never let bad weather stop you from working on your to-do list. Also, your chicken coop was already pretty nice, but now... with a shingled roof AND a dormer window... definitely "Cluckingham Palace". 🙂

Martin, you have no idea how your work impacts so many people around the world. I’m sitting here in a suburb of Cleveland Ohio waiting for your video to post. When the notification pops up I can’t get to your channel fast enough!
Why? You! Your humble way of storytelling inspires me in so many ways. Watching you tackle the shingles -one by one- literally inspires me to tackle the chores set out for the day
Then your beautiful photography! Oh my gosh - it just takes the viewer away and leaves us with an extraordinary sense of peace.
Watching you paint, cook meals, bake bread - can’t explain it but it’s a gift.
I am so grateful to you for your channel. Thank you. Wishing you a good day today☀️🥾❄️😊

It may be Martijn thoughtfully lowering the volume, but it's more likely his camera making the adjustments. Audio recording devices can only handle certain sound pressure levels, above which excessively loud sound will seem to be muted on playback.

I love the wood shingled roofs and as they weather they will turn gray and blend into the mountains and nature. I agree with you that homesteads do tend to start looking messy and I admire how you are doing everything to not have yours turn into that. ❤.

Martijn, You need a sled with a pull rope or harness for pulling wood and other things around your property. I often find myself watching your hands. Those fine, beautiful hands remind me of someone from my youth. You often have a pair of discarded gloves in the picture. Your aesthetic choices based upon nature with minimal human intrusion showing, such as when you first saw your homestead, have played out so beautifully episode to episode! Replacing the sheet metal roof on the coop with split shingles, building your own wooden gutters, the "beau arts" wood storage... everything contributes to your original vision! It's all so beautiful, there surrounded by the ineffable beauty that nature offers. It means a lot more hard work, but you live with the aesthetics forever! It's one of the great things about your channel: your vision!
Here on the Gulf (of America🤡🤣) in South Louisiana this past week, it looked like your opening shots: 11" of snow and temps down to 4 degrees fahrenheit in my town!

Super❤

It's so peaceful to watch someone else work. LOL Seriously, your video shots of the full woodpile, snow on trees, etc. are simple and artistic. It is obvious that you see beauty in your surroundings and love where you live. Great job!

I love the chicken house. Happy lucky little animals.
The wind makes me so relaxed when I sit down with my Sunday drink. I'm from a northern town in US, and the brisk winter air, is wonderful. The mountains tho, epic.
I'm glad you put a screen on the chicken house dormer. I was worried animals wld discover it and hurt the chickens. I should have known you'd do it. Thank you for starting my Sunday with the mountain winds and scenery. You're work is so impressive. Peace

snowed under by now! The weather
is crazy all over the place! In BC Canada
where we live,we just had our first snow
of winter and poof, now it's gone! My
husband is like"The lonely Maytag repair-
man!",only he is ,"The lonely snowblower
man!" with no white stuff to remove with
his new snowblower! Here's hoping for
one good snowfall for him! Have a warm
    night! Cheers,Sandy&Andy

Good morning Martijn. The views of the mountains and your property were beautiful during the storm, you could see it was very cold. It reminded me of what we have gone through in Ohio, the arctic blast of cold and snow. The chicken coop and wood bin are looking beautiful with the shingle roofing. So happy you weren’t injured when you slipped on the chicken coop roof. See you next week and stay safe.

The wood shakes will blend in with the surroundings much better than a tile or asphalt shingle & for sure better than any sheet goods such as a plastic or metal!!! You got it going on with what you envision for your living set up, symmetry & aesthetics are pouring out of you with this project & that all-important old-school side!!!

That is life the real life be surprised every day and be grateful for everything you experience. Have a wonderful week. Bendiciones

I agree completely. Plastic may be cheap and convenient but it ends up becoming useless and creates a mess that lasts for centuries.
I enjoy you being right there, in the moment, not bouncing around trying to get the "perfect shot" and so on.
The different woods will age so they can be identified, but still remain part of the natural environment.
I remember when you first started, then where you are now. It's not really been a long time considering what you started with.
Thank you for the last shots, absolutely wonderful.
