Sadly, my father is like this. My older siblings all left the house young or joined the military to get away from him. He had a second family (one that I'm a part of) after his split from his first wife (who cheated on him).
Eventually he retired and was at home constantly - and it was eating him alive. During this time he sabotaged my life in every way he possibly could - constantly interrupting my work, cost me at least 40,000$ in financial opportunities, destroyed my credit after 5 years of work towards starting a business, destroyed my vehicle on purpose (in effort to make me dependent on him) and went through great lengths to set the rest of my family against me. After 9 years of his nonsense I snapped on him when he started targeting my mom because other people don't like him (make it make sense).
Now I just don't speak to / with him. He's only civil when he wants something , he doesn't know how to relate to people normally unless he's trying to pull some power trip or ego move. Narcs never change, they just don't want to be exposed - so they change tactics . Their minds are broken with crippling insecurity.

When old, the biggest fear is not being with children and grandchildren.

    • @maxblanco1658

But the parents have that fear for good reason.

    • @Only1199

Yeah but that fear is justified when you abuse your kids their entire childhood, they chose to be shitty parents, this is the consequences.

First story: those policeman are given real police is a bad name. The fact that is a predator within the family and the reason why the Uncle got in jail in the first place they should do something about it not like “stop calling me”. That’s just bullshit and super irresponsible. there’s so many irresponsible cops I feel bad for the real cops that actually doing their jobs.

… It was literally stated in the post. What did he do that was a crime? If there was a restraining order something could have been done as he had broken no laws.

    • @randomfan4521
      @randomfan4521 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

Most police are like this. They can't and/or won't do anything unless it's easy to get evidence or the person/people need to get evidence for them to prove it in court. Cops are literally trained to treat people like they are guilty before they even talk. We need better laws and hold cops accountable for the crimes they do and keep problematic cops out and not let them move to other districts.

Giving minors porn is part of the grooming process. If the cops gave a shit about protecting kids, they wouldn't have blown the family off, esp with a prior conviction. Cops make up bs reasons to bring ppl in all the time, it just never seems to be the ppl actually doing wrong

Final story: OP, you did absolutely nothing wrong. Believe me, when it comes to acquiring references, it's always best to ask someone from outside the family. As such, your sister brought her current situation on herself, so there is no need for you to feel guilty.

3 children abandoning their parents is very similar with recent infamous case in my country that i think OP might take inspiration from it
The case goes like this: an old couple founded dead and rotten in their house, they already dead for weeks. No one know. Not even their 3 sons, because all 3 of them cut ties with them for years. The public got enraged and curse the sons for being ungrateful, but the sons just went "tf you know?" None of them even present when the parents is being buried.
Then 1 of the children visit the grave, and witness said he look incredibly annoyed, like someone who lost lottery and become sacrifice

40k people is a small town?!
    No it's not.
You wanna know what a small town is? A few thousand
    I had a graduating class of 300.
    THAT'S a small town
She's so worried about what people think that she's willing to stay with an abuser so she doesn't look bad.
    Some marriages aren't worth saving.
Personally, i would have had a civil discussion about why. The fact that he says he's sexually unsatisfied and was pushing for it means that he was already cheating
Like people in her "small town" will mess with her.
You can't be friends with 40k people. Not everyone is gonna know you
Plus you NEVER open a relationship that is already established
If you're gonna have an open relationship, it should be a given from the beginning

I think making a poly work is about being emotionally intelligent and available more than your sex drive. Any dog can scratch its itch. The husband was using other people and hurting them without regard; including his sister, though not sexually.

Same reason I stayed in contact with my terrible parents despite how God awful they were. "this is what families do...so I have to suffer throughout it". Had to get a therapist to tell me it is ok to let them go and stay NC.
Trauma does stupid things to your brain, and bad parents have asserted themselves as the boss so firmly that some never grow a backbone.

You’re conditioned by narc parents/people in your life to always prioritize their needs even if it’s at the cost of your life,”because I gave you life” “because we are family”
