- We have to pack up our tent and leave our Moto Camping spot in Portugal to Head over the Border and into Spain. But nothing seems to go well for us in Spain and Finding our Motorcycle camping in Spain is not proving easy on this Trip. The Garmin Satnav seems to be starting a Trend on this motorcycle tour of letting us down over and over.... It was all going so well.... Our Travels whenever in Spain seem to bring us problems and our run of good luck is starting to run out!

When you get home have a look at dedicated hot weather base layers, I use Under Armour but others are available. They give you a few more degrees of comfort compared to normal base layers.
Thanks we will check it out
Rich is a moto-camping convert - after the first hilarious camping video not something I thought I'd see :D Nice poached eggs :)
Not something any of us expected! But sunshine makes everything enjoyable!
Looks so nice. I was in Portugal last January and rented a bicycle in the south and knocked around all day on it. Was so great. Wished I could have had my moto. I got all my sunscreen, lip stuff, etc. just at the Aldi or the Lidl while grabbing my daily meals.
We have travelled all over Europe and so far Portugal has been our favourite place to be
Just done Ronda, Cádiz and Seville amazing bit of Spain
Did you get down to see the bridge from underneath in Ronda? Wow that road was dodgy to get down there!
Love your videos! Camping breakfast just got to a new level there
Ewa is a master camping cook! THanks so much for joining us, we looking forward to showing you moto camping in Spain in the coming episodes although we are sad to be leaving portugal
Those poached eggs were amazing, just about perfect. Arriving somewhere late at night and in the dark... reminds me of my mate Leigh, that's just the sort of thing he does.
Yeah that is exactly what we planned to avoid on this tour but it just didn’t go our way all day with trying to find a camp site and the sat nav sending us all over the shop
@@ontheroadadventure same thing happens to my mate. He has a channel Nightcrawler666 and some of his adventures in Europe (where he used to drive trucks) are just nuts. I'm Mr Organised I'm afraid, although, we all do what we need to do from time to time... it's our nature. I think we've had that conversation before.
Yeah… Sometimes it just doesn’t go according to plan even when there no plan!!
Can’t get enough of your videos, glad you got somewhere to stay in the end, it would be really interesting to know how much this costs you guys for a month when you tally it all up after you get home….sun cream excluded😅
We will make a video for you at the end with this sort of info, but what we can tell you is moto camping is far far cheaper than using hotels! This will definitely allow us to travel more
Well done guys, glad you found a camp ground in the end, some times it goes like that but you usually find somewhere if you just show up to put the tent
Thanks, Sometimes doing things on the fly gets a bit stressful, to be honest the Garmin has been letting us down massively on the Tour, always seems to be taking us to the wrong location even when the satnav itself has the location saved as a campsite in its system.
Wow those poached eggs! 😋 at 32° you could of cooked them on the bike seat!! Glad you got fixed up with somewhere to stay!
That was a stressful evening, so much so the filming suffered a bit, we didn’t get to the camp until about 11pm, satnav stitched us up again proper
@@ontheroadadventure The filming was fine, no one is going to expect an epic every episode! Those eggs made it all good! 😉
Cheers bud, we appreciate your support 🫡
👍
I have to say..... you were lucky to dodge a slap with the Flump remark but it did make me laugh. Great video guys, i wouldn't like that heat either. What's the tent like at night?, is it not uncomfortable too? Breakfast looked awesome with the poached eggs. 72 euros for sun tan products, yikes. This is the best reality show ever. Keep up the amazing work. Ohh and a shout out for seeing your photo in MCN news this week. Made me smile.
Haha we are always making jokes at each other, it’s all in fun always. It’s great in the tent at night, it’s always cool once the sun goes down so no problem in the heat.
We didn’t know we were in MCN, Hope we can get a copy still. Any chance if you still have it you can take a photo and add it to the fb group on the Road adventure riders group? We would love to see it
What's a Flump?
I nearly choked on my drink 😂😂😂
Honestly I dont have a filter on my mouth, it’s like when I say these things it’s news to me too! Good job we got a sense of humour eh!
@ontheroadadventure You both have a great chemistry.
@@Merc-Rover Thanks bud 🫡
If Carlsberg did cliffhangers!..
Most excellent entertainment, team otr.
72 euro flops sounds a bit steep, but love the relaxed way you take things in your stride.
Pour yourselves a cold one.
Well deserved.
Ride safe
Thanks bud, No point in stressing when these things happen, just have to accept it and move on.... But theres something about spain that seems to cause us issues lol
We are in Mijas Spain at the moment
What we must understand is
Brexit has changed the whole joy of coming to Spain for a holiday
We have never really been liked down here but they always put up with us
Take a look at the news
They are fed up with the Brits
Stick to the beautiful villages on the way home and you will find the people much nicer
Enjoy @ontheroadadventure
@@guyonacub4335 We always enjoy the small towns and villages more, cities are not our thing especially on the bikes
wow you lay on a good breakfast! Nice one
Thanks, Ewa is an amazing cook
@@ontheroadadventure glad you got to a campsite in the end. need to up my game for a breakfast like that! :)
@@EireRider.motorcycle.adventure cheers, it was a late one that’s for sure, we do love to make food…. Probably a bit too much 😂
@@ontheroadadventure no harm in that! 😁
Must say looking forward to the next one
Episodes are weds, Fri and sunday each week bud
I used to go to Portugal over winter on my bike, and stayed in golf apartments....worked out it cost about 20 euros a week more than a campsite if you booked long term. (And you had your own kitchen, toilet and shower, and a nice old lady in a tabbard would do the cleaning every week....🤔). You dont have the 'adventure' element but, as I ran uk campsites during the summer, I'd lost interest in people by the end of the season.....did try spain (alhambra, cordoba, gibraltar) but went back to portugal after 3 days after regular police hassles. And the late night eating. And the knocking shop motels...I really missed comfy comfy Portugal and its tarts (custard) 🏍️💨💨😸👍
Sounds like a excellent plan, we fell in love with Portugal too
Ah Camping Vilson, stayed there last Sept and in 2022. Bus around the corner into Sevilla and Carefour nearby.
Great location, glad you got sorted.
We didn’t get to explore it was so late at night we were exhausted 😩 In the next episode though it’s pastures new…
Funny you two crease me up 😮
Glad you enjoy it and can have a laugh with us 👍
Loving the videos. Best value we found was the french municipal camp sites. 32C is just lovely.
We just learnt about the municipal term, we will try searching them
25c and sun for the UK tomorrow.....New Forest here I come......
Nice, new forest is really nice. Some nice pubs for food there too. Enjoy your ride bud
@@ontheroadadventure Many thanks.....honestly, I'm like a kid on Xmas Eve...lol
We get excited to ride our bikes every single time, its strange it just never gets old
Another great video guys, all part of the adventure
Thanks Pete, I guess if it was always straight forward and easy we wouldn’t get the challenge aspect of touring
Always pack I say a bottle of Australian gold sun cream quality non greasy and a big bottle of quality aloe Vera. For after sun or burn. I only use Google maps as find sat nav’s totally dated now. If you get really stuck I speak fluent Spanish. lol. Sleep well guys 👍
We are thinking of getting the Apple car play working and trying that with the phones on the bars
Sat nav seems to get confused phone signal more solid 👍
Garmin has been great in the uk but hopeless in Europe this time
The poached egg sandwich looked delicious. Those temperatures when you are not used to them suck. I’m sure I’m not telling you anything new but in high temps always wear a fully vented summer jacket, never wear black. Soak (and keep soaking), your T-shirt in cold water with your vented jacket on. Much better than risking a heatstroke. Jacket on, zipper halfway up, poor bottle of cold water down your back and chest…works wonders.
Thanks Bill, Ewa is a talented cook for sure 👌 We started drenching ourselves, what a relief especially the neck buffs
I rode through Seville in august. Arrived at hotel in 44 degrees. I devoured 2 litres of water in seconds. At midnight it was still 30 degrees!
Wow that must have been unbearable! were you in bike kit too?
@@ontheroadadventure after 2 days the jacket got strapped to the back of the bike and I was in a light shirt! Huge difference
I wont ride without kit no matter how hot it is, Each to their own but skinning myself just doesnt appeal
😅😂😂 31°c is when the Harley riders come out in Australia!!! Still loving it!
Surely they would over heat at any traffic light?! 🚦
Proper adventure when you can't find anywhere and it's getting dark 😳
That was a late one! We were thinking of finding a field or something by this time
Left on a cliff edge 😂
A pitch up stitch up in the dark!
I always found Spain a nightmare for campsites, although some hotels are not too bad for what they cost;as you said keep to the coast.
The further south you go the harder the ground gets! On the coast there are plenty of sites but inland it gets more tricky
I know it’s a bit late but you know you can get really good sun protectors at supermarkets, right? 😁
You’d be surprised how hard it is to find sun cream or paracetamol etc in a supermarket in Spain, they sell it all in the pharmacy at pharmacy prices!
@@ontheroadadventure omg so sorry to hear. In Portugal you get almost everything you need, like Tesco over here. Safe trip and keep it with the awesome videos! 👍👍
@@BlackThor15 What can we say…. We Love Portugal!
Keep smiling 😃 ❤ when camping it's 🏕 rough sometimes , but u got the current bun a least 😉
That was a hard day! we were so tired when we got to the site, but as you say, it cant always be easy
What makes you think it always pisses down in Wales 😂😂😂😂 I'm near Cardiff and we have thunderstorms tomorrow 😢
We love wales but it does tend to be wet when we go!
.......... I'm putting my money on fish being the only dinner choice :-)
Rich will be going hungry!
Put vinegar on your sunburn, it takes the heat out.
And will make a lovely perfume too
@@ontheroadadventure it’s not as bad as you would think.
@@craigcook1571 I can’t see Ewa going for that plan 🤣
At least you got a free bag😂😂😂
Bargain! 🤣
The 'art'of sleeping rough,then a campsite,every few days,to wash,n'so on,in France/Spain,those were the days,over 40 years ago;now,i'm in a hospital/care home,as i high-sided my Honda Fjs600 Silverwing,jus'after the mechanic warned me,my New Tyres,'were very slippery',and i was launched 20 feet into the air,only to splinter my left tibia/ankle,broke some ribs,to add to previous,incidents of a similar nature,gawd, praps' I'll live yet,n'av'some more 'ventures,happy 'I'll 'olidays,n'all the best,be careful,out there😂
Oh mate, sorry to hear of your accident, you gotta watch that new rubber… Hope you mend up well and can get back on the bike soon
Great to see you again guys, great adventure, love the weather, how much was that sun cream 😭,I see ewa getting to grips with the trangia, once you get used to it and try things you will find you can cook almost anything on them as you well know I’m a big fan. Ps your right about the Welsh weather rich ,although we are in the middle of a heatwave atm . Went car camping last night in my Vw caddy camper on the coast over looking the sea great night out ,all the best guys 👏👏🏴✊KTF.
We have a small van and the idea of creating a mini Camper has crossed our minds! Share your van pics on the Facebook group @ontheroadadventureridersgroup we would love to see it.... You just need a monkey bike or something on the back!
@@ontheroadadventure done. I made the boot jump myself, got bench & table, then it folds down to a bed, sun canopy is from my garden, & of course the trangia. I got to be honest that food looked stunning I’m jealous of the egg. I hope I don’t get shit because it’s not a motorcycle camp that I posted.
Awesome I will go see it now!
Great vid, guys. But you serious had your liner still in at 30+ degrees...;) Omg, you are tough as nails.
Why don't you use your Android auto or Carplay when the Garmin gives you problems. You easily can turn on the Google maps.
Drive save in the heat and drink a lot.
Hi, tough or stupid on the liner! I did the top ages ago but forgot about the bottoms. We did try a couple times to get the apple CarPlay on the dash but it wanted to connect to the headset and I could t figure out how to get it to work! It’s annoying because the usb has to be connected, I do have a cable that will reach the phone down to my crash bar bags but as I say I couldn’t get it all to work. I am thinking of just mounting my phone up and getting this set up as the garmin was such a let down on this tour
@@ontheroadadventure I don't know about the apple carplay, i use android. I keep the phone in the tankbag, but it has to be connected by a usb cable.
But it is in the menu from the Africa Twin were you should connect the phone. Once it is connected, it will recognise it next time.
It also need to be connected with a headset. But you can overrule it.
I hope it will work.
We have the headset but I just couldn’t get it to work, il have another go at it. Why it’s not wireless these days I can’t understand
Make sure you take sunscreen with you from uk lol👍🏍️
Sun cream is mega expensive in Spain!
Lol 😂so you both sunburnt? And £72 on sun cream with a freebag (I would wanted a leather bag not plastic 😂😂😂) do I feel sorry for you being sunburnt? Do I f##k ! Lol 😂😂 ride safe xx
haha thanks so much for the sympathy
Ewa, you are a star 🌟
Anything for a free bag!
Iam getting worried iam going in July! Bugger me how hots that going to be!!!! Oh well be a adventure if nothing else! Great video guys.
Wow i dont fancy that much! A comment above says he had 44 degrees in August to give you an idea. Make sure you have a puck for your side stand so it doesnt sink in the melting tarmac!
We had 43C last August, too hot to camp, and we had forest fires as well!
Bring your suntan lotion as its very pricey down here in Mijas
And the pools are empty due to a water shortage
@@guyonacub4335 Yeah we have seen campsites asking for taps not to be run etc whilst doing dishes to try to save water. This is not a problem that exists in the uk very often! Or the need for suntan lotion for that matter!
Have you tried calimoto for your sat nav or instead of Google maps
Yeah, that app loves to find all the small crappy lanes and unmetalled roads if you select twisty routes it was a nightmare
Google maps works well, we think we might try the CarPlay option next time
I think they took you for a ride with the sunscreen, Ewa. Next time go to a supermarket like Lidl, etc.
It seems that this stuff isnt in the supermarkets, you cant even find paracetamol or Strepsils etc you have to go to the chemist who pulls your pants down for it
@@ontheroadadventure Hmmm, that's strange...
Yeah, it's always some rip-offs happen on a bike trips. No trip without some minor annoyances.
The key is to accept it and forget it... It has no effect in the long term so no point worrying
Christ, you're only just taking off the thermal layer now at 30'c?! I've not had mine on since Feb in Scotland. OMG
You Brave with no thermals in Scotland at any time lol In fairness i forgot about my trousers ones until i was cooking, the jacket one went ages ago
@@ontheroadadventure lol although I'm not down to my Kevlar shorts yet 😉, maybe this weekend🤣
Id rather sweat than bleed!
Rock n roll. 🍻👍
Cheers bud, hope your well and riding in the sunshine where ever you may be
Bird man of Portugal 😂😂 Eva is looking after you and bloody 72 euros for sun screen, rip off Spain 😂, ride safe you two, ha e a beer and relax
She’s a good egg 😀 I’m a lucky dude! We had it too easy for too long at the last site, but onwards we go…
I thought Garmin Zumo was suppose to be good?
So did we before this trip! we have updated them etc but both the Garmins seem to be sending us on sat nav stitch ups almost Daily now. We will be looking at new options after this
@@ontheroadadventure let us all know what you get
Will do...
Wait until you buy some Ibuprofen or paracetamol. You're not going to get those for 40p.
You’re not wrong! I bought some strepsils for £10!
@@ontheroadadventure You'd be better off gargling with wine.
Whiskey for a cold! 👍
Is that sun cream Chanel? L'Oreal? Dior? Or is it just made out of gold? Lol. Spain is absurd about the heat but pals, I'll never understand why riders always use black or dark clothes. It's better for the dirt, but it's less visible, hotter, and so on. Even worse for the helmet: it makes your brains not to think clear.
We see your point on the dark clothes but the reality is it is extremely rare to have the problem of being to hot.... For us at least! We would love to be able to buy some nice mesh kit etc and stuff for all seasons but its just too costly for us to have it all at once.... Especially after that suncream!
@@ontheroadadventure less suncream, more clothes
Come on you 2... you really want WALES don't you...
We love wales…. But when it’s not raining 🌧️
