Fantastic song, like one of those short gems by The Beatles or The Kinks that you have to hear twice in a row. It could go on forever, as far as I'm concerned. PJ is a national treasure, an international treasure.
It's been almost two years, and yet there's no comment to this marvellous performance. That woman's got it all, and Let England Shake proved to be one of her most important albums.

Insanely good. She has made several masterpieces but, if I had to pick just one, it would be Let England Shake.

Such a sad soul
She's amazing as always, but I don't connect with the sound of this one. If they produce more, I hope they get to more energetic, upbeat, free-spirited sounds of a deeper, more abstract nature. At their best, they are one of the very best. I guess this album was intended for unity, which is good and all - bringing people together. I get the point of the album, just don't feel it.

I love Polly but this isn't a great performance. It may be because she's just singing this one song, but she doesn't seem very into the performance and her vocal is off. Also the lighting is wrong - they must have wanted more lighting to see the band, but that's not the point, it should be darker and more atmospheric.
4 years later but I think it sounds good in a kind of rough way.
counterpoint - this raw performance gives me more goosebumps than the study performance. It's untouched, a bit out of tune, slightly out of tempo and if you contrast it to the lyrics, there's a beautiful synchronicity between the meaning and this performance. Love it, but totally validate and appreciate your opinion. It's like 90s Polly meets 2011 with a slightly out-of-tune guitar and minimal lighting. I love it, unabashedly!
