I have a 50yr old ornamental pear tree I'm removing this year. I will get about 8ft of trunk 8inch in diameter. I'm getting a local crafter to make some stuff for me out of it. A lovely way to remember the years of beauty that was in my backyard.
I love watching this take shape, but can never foresee what the end result is going to be. They are always so beautiful, art really. Who knew that odd shaped piece of a tree could be this!
You certainly didn't let a knot get in the way of the finished piece! Looks good and even sets off the knot! Skill is one thing, creativity is much harder to come by, but you seem to have both in perfect sync with each other! :D
Hi Donovan, it's danish oil and wood wax. Take a look in the description, (the down chevron next to the title). This gives more information on the piece, including finishes and back story. Thanks for watching 👍
Stunning! I subscribed after watching this. Such a unique design. I've seen A LOT of wood turning videos. Haven't seen a dremel used that way. Bravæ! 👏👏👏
Awesome job but just a piece of advice…. You shouldn’t be using gloves while working with rotating equipment. Any machinist will tell you this. If that machine grabs any part of your glove you will be in trouble
Hi Ernesto thanks for your comment and the H&S reminder. I have always worn gloves, it is a subject that is regularly raised in the comments field on here. I always cover this within the description field and disclaimer. It works for me but I do not promote their use to others, it is very much a personal choice. 👍😃
It is very interesting to look at. A great conversation piece.

Just think that old piece of wood could have been a hundred ole round tuits but it became a work of art

What if you hit those stipples areas you created with a blowtorch before sanding for some contrast?
Thanks for watching! I did think about doing that. I'll have to give it a try in a future project 👍

I have a question for whoever knows the answer. why did he change to a different chuck at 1:58? It holds the wood harder and safer?
