Great video, A pedal worth mentioning that should be on this list is the "TWA Side Step", does what the OBNE Expression Ramper and more as it also has different waveforms for the LFO and expression pedal input to override or combine with the LFO
I'm sensing a potential Mk.Gee type usage moment here...but this sounds great. Not the harshness of the mildly faddish thing previously mentioned. I'm actually thinking Trey Gunn's, The Joy of Molybdenum...
Somehow I feel like the Zoia could have had a little place in this video. Based on its ability to achieve a lot of these ideas within itself.. and also its ability to morph and send VC/midi to anywhere else. The pedals in this video have given me some new ideas to attempt on my Zoia. Nice one!
It's very funny you say this because I was literally looking at Zoia on my desk last week thinking about how I have a patch saved to modify the pitch of the whammy V. Well I guess it just means we have to do a round 2!
Eurorack has the right idea with flexibility , modulation, and expression. Pittsburg had a pedal eurorack case that was sadly ahead of it’s time. More modular pedals please. More cv control!
I agree, but I wish that the interfacing was as simple and malleable as eurorack, it would be fun to have easier access and more variability to where and how we apply it I’m holding out for more face place CV ins for pedals
Many effects can be modulated with CV using a “floating ring” cable. I agree though, it’s great to see more CV control specified on effects! (Also, check out the Left Brain CV!)
Your solo lines are really interesting and musical. Lots of liquid, dynamic, and creative choices. The stuff around 12 minutes and for a few minutes has an unusual gating of the high end that reminds me of the roll off dial on the Shallow Water. The sound is underwater, trying to surface and then bursts above the waves periodically. These are the kinds of things that are getting my attention more lately in the pedal world. Tones that break up a little unpredictably, sputter crudely, but in elegant musical attire😂 Off to beat up my tele, droning out some weird pads into my lo-fi loop junky, and then firing crazy time based stuff to hear the rockets explode. That Chase Bliss exploration is bonkers beautiful and then (me back looking at the video), WHERE DID YOU GET THAT ZVEX LOOP JUNKY WITH THOSE CRAZY PERFECT GRAPHICS??? I didn't realize the most gorgeous version of my favourite pedal of all time was going to crash the party! Hey, this is beautiful stuff you are up to here; up my street musically...but please, tell me about that ZVEX. That should be the official graphic for such a tremendously creative, often misunderstood pedal masterpiece. Very inspirational work...we are in a new Golden Age of creative guitar FX, absolutely. Nice to hear artists making music worthy of the moment.
Thanks for the kind words my friend! The limited edition Lofi Junky is part of a collaboration between my friend Andrew (@ambientendeavors on YT/IG) who runs a pedal shop called Little Box Effects. So far there's been 2 releases with the artist ALXNDR for the lofi junky and the 59 sound. I don't think there are any plans to reissue the lofi release, but you should probably follow along with his social media if you want to stay in the loop on things that might be or might not be coming in the near future....
If you can ever get your hands on the Expression Generator by Cooper FX, I think that's worth high praise as well. I'd also recommend the Pendulum by Mantic, which brings effects loops into this expressive/programmable territory
You know it's funny you say that about the Cooper one, I just passed on a decent price for one and I've kinda regretted it since, I might need to keep an eye out
@@signalpath I didn't really appreciate it until I programmed the sweep to have an organic ramp that starts slow and then speeds up. It really feels like someone turning a knob. Since it can control multiple pedals, I ended up with a pitch/time bend + filter sweep effect by pairing it with a Tensor and Ottobit Jr. Hope you're able to get your hands on one! Utility pedals are such underrated gems
Is the Pome an expression pedal that is connected to another device by a single TRS cable? Or does it have a send & return? Can it do fixed rate as well, aside from dynamics of the signal?
Yes, the Pome acts as an expression pedal via TRS, with the ring switch allowing for different configurations depending on how your pedal takes in expression With regards to the send and return question how do you mean? It passes audio whether the pedal is on or off, is that what you're referring to? It doesn't do any form of modulation outside of dynamics, but there's a fair amount you can achieve with that approach alone! Other expression ramper type devices may serve you a bit better if that's what you're looking for
My God, I want that SHSL and Pome combo for soloing/improv. I feel like it adds so much depth to your playing.
feel the same, reminds me of guthrie govan, so dope
Gotta love that Ottawa region rep - ❤ Fairfield Circuitry

I've never heard of this one! I'll have to check it out, the stuff I've seen in the past from TWA has all been wild. I love the synth they do
@@signalpath Check it out!, I'm surprised it doesn't have much coverage from other pedal reviewers, it's the best expansion to any pedal IMHO

Love this. Need more utility type pedal rundowns. Thank you
this was an informative video and had nice music in him. thank you mr video.
What a great video! Utility pedals should get more attention :)

The Kilter by Champion Leccy is an awesome pedal!!

1:00 Dynamic control of effect? overdrive/distortion/fuzz, and envelope filter.
Nice video, and cool devices, but 329.00 for the Left Brain Pedalbrain? That's absurd and kinda sad.
Can you demo the new ramper with the random lfo?
Check out the TWA Sidestep
