You're not paying attention! This is everything that her channel is about. It annoys her to no end people buying unnecessary luxury skincare. Watch some of her videos; it's her niche. She's the only skincare Guru not trying to be a Poser.
the ordinary was founded by a genius chemist. Estee Lauder kicked him out of his company and he committed suicide. so.. not a fan of estee.lauder... plus if he was still alive the brand would be so much better and innovative
What happened was very unfortunate n may he RIP. But there is a some information that he was not very well and before the suicide he had posted some stuff. So even though we don't know the whole story, can't say the EL is completely to blame
There was a story about him in the Wall St Journal a couple of years ago. He had gotten into hard drugs such as heroin, and had to be removed from his company. At the time, it was not believed that he had committed suicide, but that, in a stupor, he had fallen off the balcony of his Toronto high-rise apartment. The company that he had founded had to be closed temporarily, in order to reorganize; this was long before the sale to Estée Lauder. However, he had long ago expressed his wish to eventually sell to EL. It is always such a tragedy when someone so brilliant becomes self-destructive!🥺
I also use the Resveratrol 3% on the back of my hands and have seen great results! For my face, I mix it in with The Ordinary's 15% Vitamin C and EGF serum...so I would love to see your video on their Vitamin C products!
oh maybe I'll try the Resveratrol 3% on the backs of my hands then. I bought for my face but omg it's one of the most irritating skincare products I've ever tried! I read on the box that it was not intended for sensitive skin, and wish I had read the product description closer. I simply cannot use it on my face, even diluted in creams or oils, it causes terrible redness every time. But it might work as a hand treatment at nighttime maybe? I'll give it a try!
I tried The Ordinary Caffeine + ECEG Solution for my puffy eyes, not expecting anything at all because it was accessible, affordable and suggested by you. I was very skeptical. I was totally 😲 SHOCKED to observe an immediate reduction of the appearance of my puffy eyes. By immediate, I mean within 20 minutes I saw about a 75% reduction. I am 60 yrs old, very fair skinned. I'm going to continue to use this in my AM skincare routine.
I used to love the ordinary, but I've outgrown my 99,999 step routine so I don't have a place for the single ingredients unless it's tretinoin. Thanks for another great upload. 👍
I have been using resveratrol with ferulic acid together with their vitamin c 23% to try to mimic Skinceuticals Vitamin C Serum for the last two years. BTW how disappointing that they sold the ordinary to Estée Lauder. Hope they don’t change it beyond recognition in quality and price.🙈
@@iislandGiirL143 the concentration is pretty high so i mixed it together with their squalane face oil to prevent irritation and my skin has been loving it!! maybe u could try that too :)
@@aidaandrade7857 I've just started using them also. I always put retinol first (most important to get into skin), then I don't think it matters which order for the Buffet and niacinamide as they are both water based solutions. The red exfoliant I've only used twice, weekly, and it stings a fair bit so I might decrease to fortnightly. How has your routine been working out ?
I use all 3 on a weekly basis, and I LOVE the results! Yes, Dr Dray is right that ferulic acid can be irritating - so use it with modesty! The coffeine solution is truly an ”unsung hero” as she says, works wonders for my skin. And I don’t even have a dark circle under eyes problem! 😁
I like the temporary tightening feel of the caffeine eye serum on my upper eyelids, and it helps to depuff my undereye. It's a bonus having the egcg. Now that I know it can help prevent hyperpigmentation too, I'll be applying it to my dark spots
I have been using the ordinary’s hair peptide with caffeine in it and it has grown my hair in just 3 weeks. I’m excited to see the results after 3-6 months.
I use the caffeine serum under my eyes upon awakening, and let it work while I do others things before my shower. That way, it refreshes me without conflicting with other skincare. I love this product. As for the ferulic acid, it was too oily for me, had to toss it out.
Came back to this video, recently incorporated the ferulic acid and resveratrol-my rosacea is happy surprisingly! It helps with redness and skin tone immediately after applying, and I cannot wait to see the long term effects. Thank you for highlighting!
I’ve been using the caffeine serum for about a year and a half and I have noticed reduction in redness all over and it has brightened my under eyes a little bit, mostly in the inner corners. It hasn’t helped my under eye bags much though. I also think it layers well with all of my skincare, spf, and makeup.
Thank you so much for this! I had been looking at all three of these as alternatives to topical vitamin C (which my skin cannot handle), and am so grateful for your take on them. Thank you for breaking them down for us! 🙏🏻
I loved the caffeine serum straight out of the fridge. I felt like I could watch the puffiness disappear. BUT it dried out my skin so much once it dried, and nothing I put over top of it helped. )-:
I’m currently using the EUK. I don’t use acids in my routine. I was looking for a green tea antioxidant serum to try next and already have the EGCG for my eyes(since it’s marketed for eyes). I didn’t put two and two together that I can also use it on my face! 😂😅
I can vouch for the EUK serum. It is AMAZING. Be careful not to use more than 3 drops on your face, I'm not kidding, I used 4 drops once and my entire face was red and felt like burning. But I just washed it away and until morning the skin looked ok.
I started using TO resveratrol about 2 days ago and it gave me itchy rashes. I used 3 drops. I wanted to give up already but decided to give it a try still and reduced usage to 2 drops (day and night). Still gave me itchy rashes. Last night I used only 1 drop, 30 mins after washing my face. Finally, my face tolerated it, and no more itchy rashes. So for first-time users, pls start with 1 drop and don't forget to patch test (which I failed to do🥴)
I'm always a fan of videos about products from The Ordinary/Deciem. Their products have had a magical effect on my skin, and I have used them for over three years now!❤️ Thank you for continuing to review this brand, as I have been very concerned about it since EL bought part of it.😧
@@kiraemily5517 I think they own less than 50% which means they shouldn't have total control. But, I believe they are supposed to buy more of it in a few years. It is very worrying, but I think the customers will be VERY vocal if they make any changes we don't like!
Maybe I missed it but have you ever reviewed the Timeless Vitamin C that Angie with Hot and Flashy loves? I'd love to know your thoughts on many of the Timeless products. Love your channel!
Tbh, that timeless vit c has no data.. try to stick with brands that have good R&D and/or prescription-based products when it comes to active ingredients like retinoid/retinol, L ascorbic acid, azelaic acis, etc
@@michelletidler6773 exactly. She's not "against" Vitamin C serums, she's just of the opinion that most are more trouble than they're worth. She's talked about a few, but none that I've been super interested in. I REALLY wish she would try out the Timeless Vitamin C serum and give her opinion. I've already tried it and found it gave my skin an immediate glow after the first application, and gradually noticed a brighter more even complexion with continued use.
Yes, her recommendation when it comes to CEF serums is the Skinceuticals, period. Because of the r&d, studies, patent, etc. She been asked multiple times to review other CEF serums like the timeless and always comes back with Skinceuticals is it as the others can't prove they have the same efficacy or research behind them. She's also not a vitamin c derivative fan either since she says more research needs to be done. It's why some of us usually tell folks to go to channels that do recommend vit c serums and that's pretty much any other derm.
I use it in the morning before I wash my face. I leave it on for at least an hour. I do this with other actives and oils I have no room for in my routine.
Omg, funny thing. I just saw this video randomly on my feed, and I coincidentally have all three antioxidant serums you’ve mentioned! I love them and they work for my skin type. Highly recommend 🙌🏽
In case no one else already commented, EUK-134 was released before Estee Lauder purchased the brand, but after other products (like Marula Oil) got the brand recognition.
I use the caffeine solution under my eyes in the AM but, am now excited to try it all over my face thanks to your explanation. I'm wearing the Reservatrol now. It's a little irritating for the first minute or so, then it's like wearing a very light oil.
Was looking for a review for the Ordinary resveratrol serum and several other serums from them. Yours is all I need. So glad to find it to be recommended by you! I’m buying two out of the three you recommended here. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I have the EUK 134 serum and it's quite oily with an iodine like tint. When applied to the face, it leaves a glistening thickness to the surface of the skin. Typically, I apply this at night. Now I will have to apply in the morning and see how it plays with my SPF and makeup. My skin type is very dry, mature with pigment, fine lines, etc.
They have EUK for quite a while already. I used it two years ago! It kind of feel greasy if you apply too much, but try to use only a few drop and wait for a bit, the greasy sensation will disappear.
I also struggle with using “happy” in relation to Memorial Day. But, I try to think of it as honoring the freedom that these brave veterans fought for to ensure our happiness. ❤️
I also like that the ordinary offers retinol at 3 different levels, which makes it easier for people to get started on retinol, and people who already use retinol can build up to higher concentrations. I just wish they had a better preservative system because their retinols only last for 3 months per their jar indicator.
I have always focused on taking care of my skin but just couldn’t get it to look glassy. I have used a the ordinary EUK for 1 month and I can tell you that it’s the best thing that’s happened to my face since retinol. I use it in the day before my day cream and SPF and I’m absolutely flawless and clear. I use SKII Essence and the ordinary alpha arbutin and vitamin c at night with a moisturizer. My skin has never been more balanced or happier.
The caffeine eye serum was the 1st Ordinary product I bought 3 years ago. Swear by it! I also use the resveratrol - serum under my sunblock for day & I add 2 drops to boost my Ordinary moisturiser at night. Try it!
I was hoping you would review the "Buffet," because I want one item that does it all. And btw, the Physician's Formula Essence of Healthy is lovely. Thank you!
Can you , if not yep , do a video that explains what not to mix together with ordinary products and what’s the best regimen as well . As in , the steps to placing the product on the face. Water less dense product first where the thicker like oils last before creams … example . Not sure if that was correct but the ordinary has so many products that at times it difficult what to pick and then how do we layer them on the face

Thank you! So informative and practical. Am 3 for 3, but so appreciate the confirmation. I think I Am sensitive to the 10% niacinamide and put it on hold a couple of months ago. There's no substitute for your studies-based info. You make every day better. Thank you!
10% is a too high concentration for niacinamide. Studies which showed its benefits used concentrations under 5%. At a higher percentage, it may cause irritation. I experienced this myself as well but when I switched to 5% the irritation disappeared.
I generally mix the Niacinamide with Hado Labo HA liquid gold bottle in the morning. The Ferulic Acid one I may trying for sun spots on days I’m not using Azaelic acid.

The Ordinary Resveratrol 3% Ferulic acid 3% serum is one of my HOLY GRAILS! Such a wonderful and under-rated product. I use it with my Vitamin C serums and it makes a HUGE difference!
Dr. Dray thank you for always providing informational videos! I’m an esthetician and i love how you talk about ingredients and what they can really do for the skin. Who they’re recommended for and how often to use it. I use PCA’s enzyme that contains reservatrol on my clients who suffer from hyperpigmentation issues and have seen a huge improvement long term🤍 Hope you have a great day!!
Amazing if it can help my post radiation skin damage. The skin is thick ,dry, and discolored after breast cancer radiation. I’ve been applying creams and lotions but hadn’t thought about serums. It’s worth trying!
Did use all of these - the caffeine + EGCG only for my eye area and it did work for me, but I definitely think as Dr. Dray pointed out that this does make a lot of sense as a whole-face antioxidant serum! The resvetrarol + ferulic acid worked nice for me in terms of feeling on skin, but as with many antioxidant I am not sure of what it did for my skin! But yea: I would try it again! The EUK has been part of The Ordinary offering for some time now, I think it came our either in 2017 or 2018. Unfortunately I didn't find a place for it on my routine, since it doesn't work well with vitamin C or acidic products. But Dr Dray indication as a post-radiation treatment is definitely very interesting! Thanks for your useful content Dr. Dray!
The Ordinary caffeine solution worked for my slightly puffy undereye area. Amazon only sells it in the form of 2 bottles for $20. I got a single bottle from Target for $6 and change. Remember, I said slightly puffy. I don't have bags and I don't think it would help with actual saggy undereye skin. :) The bottle is small but it will last. I use a pea-sized amount under each eye at bedtime over Lubriderm moisturizer because it makes skin taut.
I love Pycnogenol, it starts off a little greasy so I only use 2 drops for my face (then a 2nd for the neck). I have just ordered the Caffeine solution for my puffy areas, fingers crossed. Some time ago I chose not to reap the benefits from EUK as it doesn’t play will with others. Than you for all your hard work. Now I am going to rewatch your video on the 10 best TO products.
@@vetsai8199 true, i knew about Vit C, I never really used it for its shortcomings and the one that’s proven to work from skinceuticals is way too expensive, so EUK during the day alone and Resveratrol at night 😉
@@traceytrotter9934 I tried it, it was more irritating than helpful, I don’t really use Vit C for its limitations, the only I know it works for sure it’s the Skinceuticals and I’m not paying that hefty price for it when there are so many alternatives that do the same as Vit C and there’s literature backing up their efficacy for sure.
Definitely not. I don't understand why she is recommending these products at all. Buffet is peptides, amino acids, urea... A great, all inclusive serum. Skip the EUK, simply sucks. And if you want ferulic and resveratrol (antioxidants) get the Timeless C Serum. It is the best and not expensive either. :)

the ordinary was founded by a genius chemist.

@@princesspratu I know ppl in Toronto in that circle and from Iranian community, they said EL is responsible
@Patrick Loiselle I would have to agree with you!
I also use the Resveratrol 3% on the back of my hands and have seen great results! For my face, I mix it in with The Ordinary's 15% Vitamin C and EGF serum...so I would love to see your video on their Vitamin C products!
I tried that mix with the Vit C powder
oh maybe I'll try the Resveratrol 3% on the backs of my hands then.
On the back of hands.....what a good idea!!

Hello Jayne hope you’re having a good day?
I used to love the ordinary, but I've outgrown my 99,999 step routine so I don't have a place for the single ingredients unless it's tretinoin. Thanks for another great upload. 👍
Facts. If my routine has more than 4 steps including cleansing, I’m not consistent.
Have you tried the Timeless C Serum? Has these ingredients and a much better texture and absorption level.
It’s a good thing they did because Lauder has the technology and research capabilities to enrich their products while keeping them affordable.
Does the resveratrol with ferulic acid sting?
@@iislandGiirL143 That will depend on your skin but I’ve had no problems. Better to patch test if in doubt.
@@iislandGiirL143 the concentration is pretty high so i mixed it together with their squalane face oil to prevent irritation and my skin has been loving it!! maybe u could try that too :)
I use the buffet, retinol in emulsion, and their naicinimde with zinc. Every 2 weeks I use their chemical exfoliant that is red. I love this brand.
In what order do you use those cause I just bought those same products and I wasn’t sure
I miss seeing your mom and Tybee. I think about them every video. ❤️🐶
Dr. Dray is the TH-camr dermatologist who studied the most while at school. She knows so much.
Hi! I just started using it. Did it continue to help you?
Dr. Dray, would you consider making a video for night shift workers? Should our routine be any different?
Yes!! That would be perfect 🤩
I second this request!
Yes!!!
ABSOLUTELY!! That’s such a great idea...there are MILLIONS of night shift workers around the world.
Yes! Very much needed!! Great idea!✨
I use the caffeine serum under my eyes upon awakening, and let it work while I do others things before my shower. That way, it refreshes me without conflicting with other skincare. I love this product.
As for the ferulic acid, it was too oily for me, had to toss it out.
Then you used too much. All it takes is 2 drops on face and one drop on neck.
@@donecurry1938 I probably did use more than 2 drops.
Do you use it all over your face? Or just the eye area?? Been wondering about that!
Do you apply all over?
Finally a derm who knows what they are talking about. Love your channel.
Thank you so much for this! I had been looking at all three of these as alternatives to topical vitamin C (which my skin cannot handle), and am so grateful for your take on them. Thank you for breaking them down for us! 🙏🏻
I love the ordinary line, but I didn’t like the caffeine. It dried my under eye skin out.
But I swear by the Niamincide, Buffet, and the Gycolic acid.
Dried mine out toox
Same here.. the caffeine aint working its magic on me
That's why I stopped using the caffeine serum also
I also dont like caffeine product. But i also love the oder 3
Have you tried Korean serums? They have some amazing ones. Especially green tea.
I can vouch for the EUK serum. It is AMAZING. Be careful not to use more than 3 drops on your face, I'm not kidding, I used 4 drops once and my entire face was red and felt like burning. But I just washed it away and until morning the skin looked ok.
I love coffee and I’m so happy to hear all the benefit!
🤎🤎☕️🤎🤎
I tried TO Caffeine & EGCG serum and had to stop because it was too drying for my under eyes. I think I’ll give the R3F3 a try….thanks! 🌷
So for first-time users, pls start with 1 drop and don't forget to patch test (which I failed to do🥴)
The ordinary skin products are awesome. They don’t ever cause me allergies like many skin care products do.
I love The Ordinary! The niamicide cured my breakouts. Thank you for this!
I just bought it and put it on today had put aloevera as had little burning not much
I prefer the ordinary niacinamide because heard it has dual benefits like collagen boosting, reduce hyperpigmentation and is gentle on the skin .

I'm always a fan of videos about products from The Ordinary/Deciem. Their products have had a magical effect on my skin, and I have used them for over three years now!❤️ Thank you for continuing to review this brand, as I have been very concerned about it since EL bought part of it.😧
Did not know EL bought the Ordinary, also very nervous now for their formulation. Hopefully they don't change anything
@@kiraemily5517 I think they own less than 50% which means they shouldn't have total control. But, I believe they are supposed to buy more of it in a few years. It is very worrying, but I think the customers will be VERY vocal if they make any changes we don't like!

Hello Sofia, hope you’re having a good day?
Maybe I missed it but have you ever reviewed the Timeless Vitamin C that Angie with Hot and Flashy loves? I'd love to know your thoughts on many of the Timeless products. Love your channel!
She doesn't promote vit C.....
Tbh, that timeless vit c has no data.. try to stick with brands that have good R&D and/or prescription-based products when it comes to active ingredients like retinoid/retinol, L ascorbic acid, azelaic acis, etc
@@DMV8662 She has however done reviews on other vit. C serums like the over priced Skinceuticals and the CeraVe one. So its a fair request.
I made the plunge into The Ordinary and can say they are fabulous. The 10% Niacinamide and Resveratrol serums are game changers.
I love the EUK...but the EUK is just so damn hard to incorporate in a routine that relies heavily on ACIDS!
Exactly!
I use it in the morning before I wash my face. I leave it on for at least an hour. I do this with other actives and oils I have no room for in my routine.

Hey Dr Dray,
How well do each of these products interact with Retin A? I use Retin A at night. Do any of these not play well with Retin A?
Omg, funny thing. I just saw this video randomly on my feed, and I coincidentally have all three antioxidant serums you’ve mentioned! I love them and they work for my skin type. Highly recommend 🙌🏽
Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us Dr Dray!! I'm turning 44 this month. I started following you over a year ago and my skin looks amazing!!
In case no one else already commented, EUK-134 was released before Estee Lauder purchased the brand, but after other products (like Marula Oil) got the brand recognition.

Hi, I'm looking for an inexpensive product for aging skin. I'm glad to have found your channel. Definitely trying the ordinary .
I know this is an older video so idk if you’ll see this but that color looks great on you!

I also like that the ordinary offers retinol at 3 different levels, which makes it easier for people to get started on retinol, and people who already use retinol can build up to higher concentrations. I just wish they had a better preservative system because their retinols only last for 3 months per their jar indicator.
Love the ordinary, use matrixyl and hyalaurenic acid, daily plus their caffeine serum,...I will buy the resveritrol now too..
You should try the Buffet, it has Matrixyl and Argirilene.
I have always focused on taking care of my skin but just couldn’t get it to look glassy.
But Dr Dray indication as a post-radiation treatment is definitely very interesting!

EUK or or Resveratrol? Decisions, decisions. Should I do EUK during the day pair with sunscreen and Resveratrol at night with my Tretinoin?

Euk 134 is amazing. It was also one of the main favorites of The Ordinary's company founder, Brandon Truaxe.
Would you pick one of these over The Buffet from the Ordinary?
The buffet is peptides
She’s speaking about antioxidants .... the Buffet is not an antioxidant.
Definitely not. I don't understand why she is recommending these products at all. Buffet is peptides, amino acids, urea... A great, all inclusive serum. Skip the EUK, simply sucks.
