I've got to say that Mike's TV persona as a larger-than life loud Southerner is exactly that - a persona. When you meet him, he's a lovely, genuine guy with a real passion for cars - whether it be a Porsche, or in my case a Morris Minor. I'm so pleased to see him with Matt.

The cost of TV ownership is significantly better value having Mikes shows to watch. Equally, TH-cam is fast becoming, or already become, a fantastically rich environment for car journalism. I noticed the wall of number plates from around the world, as I sent mine to him when I lived in Australia for 10 years (look out for a blue plate/white letters with 'MSD II') 😉👍
Found this channel recently and slowly getting through a lot of the previous content. Really enjoying it so far. The thing I love about Mike and the Wheeler Dealers show is that they showcase and champion so many local businesses that repair, refurbish or remake vehicle parts and accessories. I was completely unaware about the extent & variety of such places. Its so good to see such people/places not only surviving but thriving. It always amazes me just how many individual items can be saved instead of being binned for a brand new replacement. This was a real treat. Thank you so much for this. A new collaboration that looks like it’s going to develop nicely. I really enjoy High Peak Autos channel. Matt is sincere and genuine. His enthusiasm for certain cars like Range Rovers and the Freelander 2 have persuaded me to buy an FL2 HSE.

I am sure there are million of family men like me who have loved all of Mike Brewers TV programmes with so much help and advice for the average ‘Mr Penniless Petrolhead’. Now retired, I found Matt on youtube,and have been a huge fan ever since for the exact same reasons, real entertainment for anyone who just loves cars. I grew up with ‘Parkinson’ who interviewed many so called ‘stars’, he was brilliant because he allowed the guest to show a side of them none of us ever knew. This was so good to watch Matt, whatever anyone says, Mike brewer is a Star to millions who love the car world, and you did a great job of creating something worthy of any TV channel. On your recommendation I bought my latest car, when everyone else told me not to, and i love it. Best wishes to you and your future, thank you, ‘Parky’ would be proud of you!.
Mike what a legend….as a kid I knew of him via his car dealerships and then worked in same TV company twenty years ago and he was always honest and treated all the crew really well, great bloke. 😂❤. Oh I lived in Catford as a kid and didn’t know they filmed there lol😅

Mike is a diamond but sometimes you’ve got to be as hard as one in to sadly as there are many many untalented grifters who do well too, again not saying his former colleagues were at all but Mike always been up front and honest, but can’t say a lot of others he’s had to work with are within the production companies or to broadcasters especially….but that’s the nature of the business sadly at times.
Big fan of Mike, always have been. 20 years this year since I walked out of school and started cleaning cars for a local used car dealer, wheeling & dealing cars in my spare time and more recently selling cars at a main dealer. Like you said Matt, I hate it some days and wish I could do something else, but I don't think I ever will (Until EV's inevitably ruin it all for everyone).

I see why you get more excited about old every day stuff than higher end stuff. I'm the same, think it's because the chances of an everyday car surviving so long are so less so it's nice to see them when they do survive, especially in good condition, unrestored.
Completely agree. You kind of expect some high end stuff to have done 25000 miles in 20 years but not the small hatchbacks of this world. On this, I genuinely smile more driving my daughters 05 Clio more than my 1 year old car…
To Matt and Mike, I’ve always been a car guy since I was yay high, Mike first inspired me to go out and do the whole thing bought a car a lightly crash damaged Daihatsu sportrak, fixed it up, used it for a bit, sold it made a wee profit, done a couple more, then life got shit. Lost the mojo for life and cars, Then started watching Matt a year ago after a very dark few years, my ex wife asked if I could get her a car a month or so back and using all your advice bought her a really good little car, The buzz is back and really Can’t thank you both enough, I thought for years I wasn’t good enough but you two have just rewound the last 10yr of my life. thank you

The 'gone full circle' analogy is interesting. Also interesting is the connection with the two media platforms , with Mike through the old school TV route, and you Matt with the TH-cam model, which is becoming every bit as big and may soon surpass mainstream TV if it hasn't already. I love the formulaic format of both your channel and Wheeler Dealers. Maybe it's just my position on the spectrum but it's very comforting! Best of luck for the future Matt. Another great video.
Mike is such a great persona and he motivated a lot of people to start their own. I am a car dealer in Germany and Mike was and is to this day a huge inspiration. And don't let other peoples hate come to your mind. Its not worth it.

Really enjoyed the video. Watched Wheeler Dealers for a long time, love the format of the buying something and giving it a new lease of life before selling it on to another happy owner. It’s a simple formula but it’s an enjoyable one. That’s how I’ve become to watch High Peak autos and other channels like AutoAlex. Always thought about having a go at buying something to sell on, I’ve enjoyed helping family members do it previously. It’s the finding the right car and spending some time after to really clean it up, there’s a lot of enjoyment to taken from that process. I’m sure you guys have inspired many people and will continue to do so. We’re all very lucky to have people like yourselves to watch.

I'm not a regular poster below the line, but I thought I'd post just to say how much I enjoy both your content, Matt, and in particular how much I enjoyed this conversation with Mike. I've been an avid fan of Mike since the early days of Deals on Wheels, and love his on-screen presence and his ability to distill down the complexities of negotiation and restoration in such an entertaining and digestible way. It was quite sad at times to hear the impact that some of the online commentary has had on you both, but remember that there are always many, many more quiet folk who love to enjoy the content you produce without comment than there are vocal sorts who like to chuck emotional rocks. Keep on Keeping on!
Excellent vid Matt. I have a soft spot for the Corsa - wife hadn’t driven for years and lost confidence. Her uncle was offered such a low trade in on his 1.4 auto Corsa he just gave it to my wife. That got her driving again but swore she’d never be able to drive a larger car. Her next car was a Discovery 300tdi.
Awesome episode Matt. I have watched Mike's programs for years and so it's nice to see him outside of the TV show environment and just having a chat. All I can say is that the programs he has made have given me a lot of enjoyment over the years and have also inspired me to have a go and work on my own cars. It saddens me that he is clearly affected by online idiots with nothing more to contribute to society than cruelty emboldened by anonymity. I hope that Mike understands they are the minority and that there are many many more, like me, that love what he does. 🤝
Between 2003 and 2004, we travelled between a small Portuguese city near Oporto and the Polish city of Łódź in an 1998 Opel Corsa 1.0 12v. We did it 3 times. 3500 km (@ 2200 miles) trip one way, 3 days driving. No air conditioning, no power steering, and yes, those seats were comfortable for such a cheap motor. Wouldn't do it nowadays after 20 years, but great times and adventures.
What a fantastic interview/chat this was. One of the best I've seen. The mutual respect you both have for one another shines through, and it once again just shows how much of a genuine chap Mike is.
Mike (and Matt!) are top blokes providing entertainment to the masses. I have watched Mike from the start, and Matt for at least 4 years. Long may they continue!

This was great to have Mike tell his story, I met Mike at AutoAlex Shed Fest on his Birthday and I had a small chat with him, such a legend is mike and just as nice in person as you see on TV.

Mike Brewer is such a great guy. He's basically the grandad of Automotive TH-cam, certainly in the UK, and he never fails to be enthusiastic with everyone he meets. The fact he seemed to immediately fall in love with that Corsa shows how true a car person he is; he just loves all things automotive, from the humble to the exotic. Sod the negative comments, Mike you are a legend. Love the story behind that little Corsa, is this another car Matt has bought that he now will want to keep...
From watching a number of interviews with Mike and Ed it appears there were legitimate creative differences. At the time of his departure Ed believed that the show was providing less mechanical information and focusing more on entertainment, while Mike disputed this. Statistical comparisons of the show over the various seasons indicates that while there has been a slight movement toward more entertaining sequences, the actual reduction in mechanical time has been fairly minimal and the show has largely retained its original format. There's also the question of whether Ed was happy spending that much time in the US (where the show was filmed for a few seasons), however that is based more on speculation than any direct comments made by either Mike or Ed.
Mike Brewer, you kept me going through some of the worst times in my life. I always managed to crack a smile during episodes of WD and all of its spinoff series. The world is a better place with Mr Brewer in it. Keep up the laughs, the information and the genuine good humour that comes from everything you do. I love that man and what he represents for the car industry and for the TV car shows,,,,,,,,, love how you manage to catch the essence of Mike the person, not the TV host!
The 'gone full circle' analogy is interesting. Also interesting is the connection with the two media platforms , with Mike through the old school TV route, and you Matt with the TH-cam model, which is becoming every bit as big and may soon surpass mainstream TV if it hasn't already. I love the formulaic format of both your channel and Wheeler Dealers. Maybe it's just my position on the spectrum but it's very comforting! Best of luck for the future Matt. Another great video.

Mike is such a great persona and he motivated a lot of people to start their own. I am a car dealer in Germany and Mike was and is to this day a huge inspiration. And don't let other peoples hate come to your mind. Its not worth it.

Really enjoyed the video. Watched Wheeler Dealers for a long time, love the format of the buying something and giving it a new lease of life before selling it on to another happy owner.
It’s a simple formula but it’s an enjoyable one. That’s how I’ve become to watch High Peak autos and other channels like AutoAlex.
Always thought about having a go at buying something to sell on, I’ve enjoyed helping family members do it previously. It’s the finding the right car and spending some time after to really clean it up, there’s a lot of enjoyment to taken from that process.
I’m sure you guys have inspired many people and will continue to do so. We’re all very lucky to have people like yourselves to watch.

I've always liked Mike, a down to earth guy, always watched his productions.
I'm not a regular poster below the line, but I thought I'd post just to say how much I enjoy both your content, Matt, and in particular how much I enjoyed this conversation with Mike. I've been an avid fan of Mike since the early days of Deals on Wheels, and love his on-screen presence and his ability to distill down the complexities of negotiation and restoration in such an entertaining and digestible way. It was quite sad at times to hear the impact that some of the online commentary has had on you both, but remember that there are always many, many more quiet folk who love to enjoy the content you produce without comment than there are vocal sorts who like to chuck emotional rocks. Keep on Keeping on!

Excellent vid Matt. I have a soft spot for the Corsa - wife hadn’t driven for years and lost confidence. Her uncle was offered such a low trade in on his 1.4 auto Corsa he just gave it to my wife. That got her driving again but swore she’d never be able to drive a larger car. Her next car was a Discovery 300tdi.
Mike is such a nice man. Wheeler dealers is probably one of the best things to ever grace TV, I've looked forward to watching it for 20 plus years now

Awesome episode Matt. I have watched Mike's programs for years and so it's nice to see him outside of the TV show environment and just having a chat. All I can say is that the programs he has made have given me a lot of enjoyment over the years and have also inspired me to have a go and work on my own cars. It saddens me that he is clearly affected by online idiots with nothing more to contribute to society than cruelty emboldened by anonymity. I hope that Mike understands they are the minority and that there are many many more, like me, that love what he does. 🤝

Between 2003 and 2004, we travelled between a small Portuguese city near Oporto and the Polish city of Łódź in an 1998 Opel Corsa 1.0 12v. We did it 3 times. 3500 km (@ 2200 miles) trip one way, 3 days driving. No air conditioning, no power steering, and yes, those seats were comfortable for such a cheap motor. Wouldn't do it nowadays after 20 years, but great times and adventures.

Matt- I have been watching Mike Brewer and you since the beginning, and have tons of respect and admiration for what you have both brought to the car world on your respective platforms. I am a big fan of all that you guys do to inform and entertain. And I have also done my part over the years by buying over 50 used cars in my lifetime! Thanks for this enlightening interview with the host of my favorite TV show….by the host of my favorite TH-cam channel. Awesome!
This was great to have Mike tell his story, I met Mike at AutoAlex Shed Fest on his Birthday and I had a small chat with him, such a legend is mike and just as nice in person as you see on TV.

Mike Brewer is such a great guy. He's basically the grandad of Automotive TH-cam, certainly in the UK, and he never fails to be enthusiastic with everyone he meets. The fact he seemed to immediately fall in love with that Corsa shows how true a car person he is; he just loves all things automotive, from the humble to the exotic. Sod the negative comments, Mike you are a legend.
Love the story behind that little Corsa, is this another car Matt has bought that he now will want to keep...
If you don’t know Mikes story don’t just assume because of the situation with him and Ed. Mike was simply more ambitious 👋🏾
From watching a number of interviews with Mike and Ed it appears there were legitimate creative differences. At the time of his departure Ed believed that the show was providing less mechanical information and focusing more on entertainment, while Mike disputed this. Statistical comparisons of the show over the various seasons indicates that while there has been a slight movement toward more entertaining sequences, the actual reduction in mechanical time has been fairly minimal and the show has largely retained its original format. There's also the question of whether Ed was happy spending that much time in the US (where the show was filmed for a few seasons), however that is based more on speculation than any direct comments made by either Mike or Ed.
I have met Mike - and he is as you see here - genuine straightforward bloke and good company. Great video Matt

Mike Brewer, you kept me going through some of the worst times in my life. I always managed to crack a smile during episodes of WD and all of its spinoff series.
The world is a better place with Mr Brewer in it. Keep up the laughs, the information and the genuine good humour that comes from everything you do.
And not forgetting Matt, who has inspired me to "massively overspend," when ever I add another jalopy to my growing collection.
