Glory to God! 🙏🏽☦️ I am J-RO, member of California based rap group Tha Alkaholiks aka Tha Liks. I was baptized into Orthodoxy in 2022 in Tucson, Arizona. I pray that I will be able to speak with Fr. Turbo one day. Thos was a great conversation and many of the points are very familiar to me. Keep it up and God bless.
My dad is black and my mom is from the Philippines. I always struggled with identity until I became Orthodox. I was pretty much ostracized by black people because I'm quiet and shy and I was always involved in things that black people thought was weird or different. Th black people always said I hated myself and I hate "my people". I began to ponder who my people actually are. At the time we're my people these black people who don't seem to like me very much or my family in the Philippines thousands of miles and an ocean away? Because I wasn't liked very much by black people I never put too much stock in my skin color (glory to God) to make it an idol I serve. When my husband and I were catachumens our priest who is from Lebanon said something in his homily that just made my struggles with race/ethnicity click for me. He said that as sinful people we care too much and involve ourselves in too many things that are not important. He said we make them important but we have to ask ourselves do these things that we make important ultimately matter to God. Then he said " if it doesn't matter to God it shouldn't matter to you". After I heard this I began to think does my racial identity truly matter to God? Does the fact that my great great great great grandparents on my dad's side served as slaves on a masters plantation get me automatic admission to heaven . Is God going to factor my race into my eternal salvation? God isn't petty and so I eventually realized no my race/ethnic is not number 1 on the list when it comes to my eternal salvation. There is such freedom in Christ and when I became Orthodox that was the moment I came home to claim my true identity in Christ.
Wow is this gorgeous… it is just so obvious that race (the thing we imagine as a true marker) is a concoction meant to divide us. Of course there is some reality to it, but no spiritual reality in just the way you said Ebony. It lacks depth of meaning, and cannot survive the divine ascent! It’s almost like a stage or an immaturity that must be shed in order to become fully human (which of course means full divine). Thank you for this!
Love this interview. Cyprian (Vin Armani) was one of the two people who inspired me to look into Orthodoxy. Had never heard of it before and at the time was not even a Christian but since finding the Church and Holy Tradition I feel my life transforming. Thank God 🙏
Would love for you guys to get on Fr. Spyridon to talk about the new world vs the old world, how should the Orthodox respond to this dilemma, and also his great book "The UFO Deception". He's very in tune with what is currently going on and insightful on many subjects. I would love to see him on here, speaking on anything, honestly.
What a brilliant discussion! Great insights, really something to hear your stories and your insight. Can’t wait to read the novel, John! Glory to God for all things! ☦️
Could I respectfully ask if you could invite Father Qualls and Father Heers to do an interview together? I believe that all Orthodox brothers and sisters could benefit from the wisdom of both fathers.
Fantastic conversation! Both Royal Path and WATAR are my favorite podcasts of the last six months so very happy to see you all together! (Why I missed it three months ago tho, who knows!!)
I am a Catholic, following my parents footsteps, recently returning to the Church and practising the faith in my old age. I know I will not change Churches now - but Orthodoxy calls to me and I am glued to Orthodox channels and conversations. I read Orthodox books. So I just see myself as a Christian, a follower of our Lord who happens to go to a Catholic church and happens to love Orthodoxy.... Is this possible??
I know this is an old comment, but just wanted to say, if you are feeling a pull and there is an Orthodox church near you, give it a chance. While I'm not in old age yet, I would say it's never too late until the Lord says so. We know God is all merciful and understands your situation, he knows your heart, if you still can go to an orthodox church and talk to an orthodox priest. The Lord will handle the rest. Lord have mercy and I wish the best for you
This video is life sustaining for me. Please publish more of these conversations. Racism is real and it is a tool the evil one is using in real time in a true spirit of python way.
Re: the internet being the rooftops of the day: Paul used the very roads built by the Romans to upturn the empire and bring the Gospel to all its citizens...
Ok I’m just gonna put this out there . Fr Turbo is an orthodox priest (who I’ve been following for ten years btw, jus sayin ) and Spyridon is tech/finance guy. So then what , if anything, is going on between NFT’s and orthodox and liturgical Christian attempts to build financial institutions and build community ? Is there such a thing ? There’s got to be a story on this

I am Orthodox. But my identity is not in "Orthodoxy", my identity is in Christ. I know that's the same thing, but it's also not.
