I just finished building a 3-link on my truck but before I put the bed on I was driving the truck around the yard and noticed the axle rotating quite a lot. My lower arms are located almost on centreline with the axle, about two inches below the od of the axle tube. And my top arm is mounted forward of the axle centreline by about four inches, and an inch and a half above the axle tube od. Would it help to increase the distance of that top arm mount to gain more leverage (control)?
Yes, raising the top link will reduce pulling force and axle wrap. Ideally, you would raise it on both the rear end and chassis, keeping the angle the same. Dropping the lower trailing arms would help also.
