It’s a lovely place. There are big perch in lots of the pools. Middle Pool and Lodge are full of 2lbers and the Dam Pool has been doing some 3lbers recently. The specimen lake perch are like hens teeth but giant ones!! Be lucky.

A great series Nick, fascinating and very informative. When things aren’t going as well as you’d hope, you have to think outside of the box which isn’t that easy, especially when the methods have worked so well in the past. Great stuff👍
I definitely find that you need to switch it up, especially on fish that see a reasonable amount of pressure. Mat superbly gave us plenty of options to consider.

You should do a Masters series on different river species. There are lots of anglers that are not in magazines etc.. who are excellent specimen anglers and you can learn from them just as much if not more.

I’m a bit of a fish for anything angler, love carp fishing, feeder fishing, predator fishing. Been a member on JCB for years, was a member of SOTAS this past year but not sure if I’ll renew the membership

Perch are the ones with the mist little fingers...ha ha.....steady days fishin.....those big fish had small head ratio to body and distinctive narrow snouted sort of noses....wondering if it is habitat or genetics...
Another great informative video. I'm aiming to target bigger perch this year more as I got myself a custom ultralight rod. All these videos are great for information so I can formulate a plan to try and get a pb this year.

Get your sen down to a private pit and get fishing fella ;) been using American style rigs for years up north on canals and all I’ve got to say is if they’re not there then they’re not there 👍 you still catch but it will be a 3 pounder per season not per session lol. Still credits to these lads finding them

Hiya I was using 0.30mm here as the pike were always inevitable. I didn’t lose any due to not having wire on but I do put some 11lb wire on if the pike are big and plentiful. Where possible I’d always prefer to fish fluoro. 0.22-0.28 most the time.

I live about 5 mins from baden :) had my 31lb.10oz common and several 20s a few years ago :) will always have my memories from that water :)

Mat had an assortment with him, but mostly used the 8' 3-15g So Solid rods. He also had a ZT 18g rigged up for the dropshot.
The 8ft 3-15g ZT is the perfect all rounder in my opinion 👌

Blimey, you know what I think you’re right! 😂 we go into such detail too. All these anglers are using a fluoro leader, 10-16lb 👍
