I joined this for the boat building and have been watching for over a year, but I just started listening to The Log of the Sea of Cortez a week or so ago and I now understand what all the fuss is about. Great book. Thank you.
Still love this series! What a great addition to an already incredible educational experience. Thank you Chris. Looking forward to another episode of the rebuild of the Western Flyer.
I'm not much of a reader, I'm 57 and when I was younger I read the Hardy Boys series, and later in life, the bible, but this series has inspired me to look into this book. Its a fascinating time in world history, anything from the mid 30's to the end of WWII always captures my attention.
Humbling words ! I must however mention that l'm equally impressed with the presentation behind Susan Shillinglaw ! A lady of taste in more ways than one ! Thanks Chris .
some people will scoff at not showing just the restoration, however the outakes really show us all the inspiration for the restoration of the Flyer, if not for people being inspired by Steinbeck the Flyer would most likely have been turned into firewood years ago, thanks for the added content the preservation of historical items needs a backstory as to why they were preserved
I can feel it, this will eat at me until I read this book. The marine biology parts won't fill my sails, but this? this I find intriguing. Apparently I have misunderstood that this book is more, much more, than cataloguing aquatic mammals apparently.
Good Historical Story! Not to get off subject awhile back there was a introduction of a Old Bus being rebuilt for the Western Flyer Foundation any updates on how its coming? I like the them old buses.
God, but I wish that Susan or someone with similar gravitas could read that at COP26 and get the attending dunderheads to listen. Thanks for posting, Chris, you and the foundation are dong some incredible work.
Work on the Western Flyer obviously has come to a halt, and these excerpts from 'Sea of Cortez' seem to serve as a meager fill of the otherwise also ceased channel. What a shame.
There is plenty of work still to be done on the Western Flyer. This is a side playlist spotlighting the Why behind a project like this. Thanks for your support.
I subscribed to this channel because of the videos showing the work that was carried out. I started to check out this channel when Rosy moved from Leo's project to the Western Flyer. And at first, I was not disappointed: there were many videos documenting the work in nice detail. If work is still done at the moment, why did we not see any video showing what was done over the last, let's say, two months? What's the difficulty in creating those videos if they were so easy to create earlier on? I mean: how difficult can it be to take up a camera and walk through the shed where shipwrights (and possibly some other workers or volunteers) are doing their woodworking?

This is my favorite passage, Susan. Thanks for these sweet shorts that connect the Western Flyer Boat to her history.
I would agree. Thanks for Watching.

Wow!⛵️⛵️⛵️⛵️
Thank you.
Thought provoking. However, provoked thought, in itself, is only a first step.
Thank you.
