Makes sense. That's been the way forward in the USA since the first public school was opened exactly 200 years ago. Every ethnic group that has come to the USA has always emphasized education, acquiring knowledge. If you get a good grounding in K-12, you may not need a college degree if there are other ways for you to become a skilled auto mechanic, carpenter or plumber. But a good grounding includes understanding the experiences of the people you are going to work with, whether your co-workers or your customers. If you know your customer is Jewish and they offer you a pastrami sandwich during your break from fixing their pipes, you don't ask for milk to drink with it. Now how would you know that they might very well be mortified by your request? Is this part of "Dancing with the Stars" or "NCIS"?
Never before have we had a president who insisted, "I love the uneducated." Never before have there been millions of Americans who will fall for the flattery instead of thinking of the economic implications of what he means for them. Where has common sense gone?
McDonald's has more stringent hiring policies than applying to run for President. For President you just need two qualifications be over 35 and born in the US.
I guess our founders mistakenly thought honor decency and integrity would still have meaning in the future.

Where I live in Pasadena Texas democrats had a KKK headquarters here until the mid 90s when my parents and other residents helped push them out of the city. Well spoken. I live in Canada and have a very strange computer altercation.
I was writing a thank-you note to Obama about pardoning Chelsea Manning - last day of Obama as President - a Sunday night.
I got blocked as I started typing the Whitehouse ...got blocked .Tried to get back on again but my writing was re-fabricated with dripping red blood as background - pouring down my home screen. I was locked out of being able to close my computer. Here in Canada I called my service provider. They found that I was in a strange limbo and they would spend the rest of Sunday night to try and get me back online. I am not in America and yet I was compromised on my computer here in Canada.
I get an idea who the perp was. Some creepy eager beaver who couldn't want to get his hands on the office.
And lucky for me my techs were able to right me when I went to my computer the next morning.
Let me say I worry about you-know-who getting your top job. M.

While I wouldn't say the current situation of most in the US is particularly cushy, keep in mind the country came to a screeching economic halt because of covid and the questionable management from Trump. America would likely be in a far worse position if Trump had been elected for a second term rather than Biden taking over. I also wouldn't trust anything Trump says during his upcoming reelection campaign because he has quite possibly the worst ratio of kept to unkept promises of any president in history including the ones who died less than half way through their terms.

Because people tend to vote for left wing parties when they feel their current situation is bad and tend to vote for right wing parties when they feel their current situation is good. Many in the US are worried about many different economic, social and environmental issues so it makes sense why they're leaning left. Additionally the GOP has over the past decade or so slipped into the niche of the ultra christian conspiracy theorist party and while that certainly appeals to a very vocal subsection of the US it has also driven more moderate conservatives away from the party.
