  • Bike-packing the rugged high country of North East Victoria. Up in the Alpine environment. 4 days from Langford Gap (Near Falls Creek). Along the aqueduct then heading along Big River Fire Trail. Upto Timms lookout for the first night. Then next day following the Big River Fire trail and crossing the Big River. (Up Quartz Ridge to the west peak of Mt Bogong. sidewalk). Upto The Gap to camp. Next day down to the Kiewa River crossing and up Rooper track onto Fainter Fire trail. Camp beside the track. 4th day up over Mt Fainter and back to Langford Gap.
    Wildlife and great scenery along the way.

    Great video Chris, nice view coming into pretty valley pondage. We haven't been to Falls since the landslide. Need to pick a weekend before it gets too cold. Thanks.

      Thank you. Yes, great place. There's not much waiting at the land slip anymore. Saw the Dingo up there the other day.

    This is great countryside. My mother and sister were from Australia. Fremantle, perth area which I am sure is pretty flat. I have been to the east coast visiting cousins. I am in Florida USA so I will be looking for your journeys. I also have Jones bars on one of my bikes. Keep up the good work.

      Thank you. Love to get out to Western Australia and do some exploring out there. I drove a car across the USA from Boston to Calgary Canada when I was 19. Cheers Chris.

    Besides the ruggedness of some of the tracks, this has to be the peak (see what i did there) alpine bikepacking route in victoria (or aus)

    Looks like you need to start carrying a small folding saw. Do some trail maintenance :) I suggest, if you can get it, the Stanley Folding Pocket saw. It uses 6 inch reciprocating saw blades that you can get at most good hardware stores. And it is very light. But that's just me :) Any ways, good video. Not sure I'd be brave enough to get that far out. Keep on pedaling and stay safe.

      Thanks for the information. I'm trying to go as light as I can these days. Any extra weight, and I really notice on the hills. Cheers Chris.

      @@ChrisRishworth True, but even with a blade installed, it only weighs in at 4.8 ounces. Just a thought.

    Great Video I feel your pain on Roper Track! I did the same route few years ago on a conventional MTB was tough but I reckon on your nice fat bike would be great.

      Thanks. It was steep pushing up with the load. Down always fun on the fat bike. In the Jagungal wilderness area now. 4th day starts.🙂

      @@ChrisRishworth Quick question , what's the difference between the Maru bike and Elgordo, one is better for long distance touring I assume?? Thanks :)

    Looks like you're travelling a lot lighter and more compact these days?

    • @ChrisRishworth
      @ChrisRishworth  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks, Mark. Yes, I still need to be a bit lighter. It's OK on flat, smooth surfaces, but hilly rough and lightweight just helps. Cheers Chris.

      Up where I live now in the town of Blackbutt there is the avocado season starting next month. The local farm near me last year employed 60 people. There’s also the Brisbane Valley rail Trail. Very close to my house. It goes for a few hundred kilometres plus lots of free campsites everywhere, you are very welcome to come up and see for yourself if you like
