- A Bike-packing adventure through the Jagungal Wilderness area. In the Kosciuszko National Park of NSW ( Australia.)
Starting at Round Mountain car park. 5 days of traveling on the bike. Wildlife and great scenary.
I met said 81 year old in pt Douglas last year when I was on tour, remarkable woman, rode 30,000 kms around Australia last year...
That is great hear. Amazing that age does not stop some people. I'm jealous.
Cheers from Buffalo, NY USA. Just came across your channel while planning my own bike trip through Australia next year. I really like the availabilty of the huts. Very nice video.
Thanks, The huts are mostly in NSW Kosciuszko National Park. Cheers Chris.
enjoy your videos mate some really great scenery along the way
magnificent sunrise wildlife
cheers mate 👍
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks Chris.
Love your content and very kewl Bike 👍
Thank you.
Your very welcome 🙏
Absolutley stunning Chris again, well done, Kevin.
Thanks Kevin. Your words are so nice. 😃
The sun rise was more than magnificent, you captured it so well. This trip is inspiring for one to get 'out there'. One of your earlier videos you detailed what solar devises you used, would love to see what you currently use and your navigation set up. Keep the videos coming they are terrific.
Thanks. Yes, the sunrise was so nice. On these trips, I've just been carrying a 20,000 mah battery. It lasts just 5 days. Need a new solar setup system. Any longer and I would have no power left. My Navigation is just the App memory map which uses Hema maps. It's OK. Some times the tracks have been wrong.
Nice vid :))
Thank you 😊
Jealous as always.
Great stuff Chris.
Thanks 😊. Glad to be out for this one. I had to change the trip due to park closure. They closed the summit the day I was going to go there. Also the Cascades trail was closed as they were shooting the brumbies.
Beautiful place, Chris. Hey, all these years, I thought you were a vegan (except for that Aboriginal kangaroo that once).
Thanks. Would like be a vegan but always seems to compicated. I eat fish and sea food. Sometimes meat but not often.
From Denmark: Thx for sharing. Absolutely wonderful trail and beautiful scenic nature and wild life. Australia has so much to offer, beside good rugby with the "Wallabies"... What is the make of the bike you are riding?

EL GORDO
Ventana made in the USA. Thank you. Greetings from Australia.
Beautiful ride and scenery! also the night time animals eating are so dang cute😊 thanks for the ride.
Thank you. The possums are cute but always searching for food. They would rip through my tent to get to the food if I let them. They were not scared at all.
Another great video / journey Chris. Love that area, spent many a winter camping at Island Bend. What a sunrise!!!!!!!!!! Keep them coming. :)
Thank you. Yes, I've camped at Island Bend many times. A big sigh says you must pre book a camp site nowadays.
@@ChrisRishworth Most people ignore that sign, always plenty of room. :) Have you ever ridden into Jindy along pump station road from Island bend, rather than climbing out of the guthega valley? I'm going to try this route next time Im up there.
@@ecoruben No I haven't tried that way yet. Sounds worth a look next time.
Did you have mic problems half way through the trip
Yes the Gopro 11 black with external Mic stopped recording sound. When I changed the battery for the last half of the hardest day. The second time it's done this.
@@ChrisRishworth I switched to 2 dji action 4 and added insta360 x3 camera the dji wireless mic is really good ..perfer over go pro
I am planing these parks in the winter… 1000km in total ..planing 3 month as i be takening the Minelab sdc2300

what camera you use?
I'm using the new Samsung S24Ultra for the ride by. Using a light tripod. The Gopro 11 black with external microphone with chest mount. The Sony A1 with external microphone for wildlife and scenery. A lot of camera gear and weight.A lighter option would be better.
Hi
Can ask where you got your current bike built please
Hi from www.washingtoncyclismebicyclestore.com/#/ I had to order the frame from Cycle monkey USA. Wouldn't really recommend them. Cycle Mokey would be much better.
Thanks for information will check them out
Thanks for sharing your circuit. I have a fat bike with a Rohloff too, and I do routes similar to this one in the Western U.S. Now I'd like to get back to Australia and do this circuit. I really enjoyed this video. Cheers.
Thanks, Yes the Rolhof is really nice. I love to get back to the US one day. Stayed there for 2 months when I was 19. Drove from Boston to Calgary Canada.
@@ChrisRishworth There are so many good routes in the western US. You have to do a couple of routes in Utah. Thanks.
Does the El Gordo fat bike have a split in the frame to accommodate the belt-drive or do you have a split-belt?
Yes, the El Gordo has a split in the frame. The bike shop set my front chain ring ( belt drive). very close to the frame. Only 3 pieces of A4 paper fit between. I'm not sure if this is supposed to be so close ?. Scares me. it is to close and if it loose at all it will destroy my frame and the belt.
@@ChrisRishworth Well, I hope the belt continues to work for you. If not, you can always switch back to a traditional chain drivetrain. I have 8-speed chain with my Rohloff (Tumbleweed Prospector). On a bikepacking trip I brush the chain every other night (or so) and oil it every 4 - 5 days. Yeah, belt drive would be less effort. At least I have the Rohloff so no messing with indexing or gunk in a cassette! Internal hubs are the way to go for the kind of bikepacking we do. Thanks for the reply.
