Rob whenever I watch your videos I notice myself just silently shaking my head in disbelief that the information I'm being presented with is so informative, concise, and FREE. I appreciate all of the effort you've put into your channel that I've been able to use to my advantage
I really appreciate it Gabe - super happy you're finding my videos valuable and that you've been putting some of the ideas and techniques from them into practise!
Rob's new video !!🎉 I thought it is the best Cinema Lighting Tutorial in TH-cam ! can't wait to see and repeat every detail in your video all night again and again .
I’m not massively familiar with Discord and I prefer a proper message board over a chat room style (I actually have a message board, Patrons can access it!) - but I could be persuaded?!
Full versions are over on Patreon - they are split into parts to keep releases more consistent here on TH-cam. This way I don’t have to go a month or more without releasing a video! I’m super happy you’re enjoying my work so much, thank you so much!!
Whenever i watch your videos i feel like i’m in a blues clues episode on steroids but about cinematic lighting. I’m focussed on the subject matter no matter what you present
This is genius. A lot of thought goes into lighting. People dont realise this very often. Pls dont stop this series. Its very informative and encouraging for us.
Thank you so much for your support - I massively appreciate it and I’m glad you’re still enjoying my videos! I would love to add subtitles in a number of languages, but unfortunately it would be a little too much work for just me!
Really useful video, thanks so much for putting the time into these my dude! Really helps expedite the transition away from just pointing a camera at stuff and clicking record!
Awesome! I especially like the look that you gave that book at 6:08. Oh man, what did that book ever do to you to have you so pissed at it? Haha! Love this channel!!
Amazing video! For the shot with the picture frames, what colour temperature were the lights set to? And what white balance was your camera set to? Love the warm look
Could you have put some diff on the projection mount to soften the shadow a bit? So opal or super light diff just to blend and soften the shadow a bit. I found it a bit distracting, either way amazing information as always! Thank you Rob!
Adding any sort of diffusion would start scattering the precise beam - maybe not so much if it was super super light - but I’m not sure it would make a noticeable difference at that point! I don’t think a general audience would notice, and that’s who we light for! Thank you so much, I hope you’re enjoying the series! ☺️
Thanks Paul! They are actually sponsoring this series - you’ll also be able to find these videos on their own TH-cam channel sometime after I’ve uploaded here!
I'm from Uganda. When watching these lighting videos, I feel like you need expensive lights and equipment to create good lighting. Can't I archive these kind of lighting with house household lights like led t5 tube or led bulb.?
Of course! Take the first setup - you could bounce the key light from a long bed sheet instead and replace all the lights with ones that you already own!
We need a feature length trilogy of Rob just narrating himself setting up lights.
Haha I think that would just be a longer version of these videos!!
Rob whenever I watch your videos I notice myself just silently shaking my head in disbelief that the information I'm being presented with is so informative, concise, and FREE. I appreciate all of the effort you've put into your channel that I've been able to use to my advantage

I second that Gabe. This channel is so good that I can’t NOT donate with a clear conscience 🤣
All the best Rob! Cheers to your successes.

I think a Rob Ellis discord server whould be really nice. A place where we can share our cinematography, get inspired or learn from others!
