    Accent light can be used to highlight objects (picture frames, paintings, furniture, etc) to create depth, emphasise motivated lighting, make for more realistic lighting, or simply to draw attention to certain elements in a scene - more subtly, or not. In this way, it can be used to tell a story, or create a feeling in an image.

    Not only do I want to thank you for the best cinematography content here on TH-cam, way better than those "analysis" channels since you actually do it physically and do it extremely well, but also thanks for uploading these in an ultrawide aspect ratio (from someone who owns and views this on an ultrawide monitor).

      Thank you so much for your kind words - I massively appreciate it and I'm very happy you're enjoying my videos so much! Also happy to hear the aspect ratio is working well for you! I thought it was the most appropriate way to present the series!

    Love it! You're a constant reminder that lighting isn't always that cliche "perfect" 45 degree key "interview" setup. And that proper lighting, is motivated, not sourcy.

    I'm Irakli Glonti Cinematographer from Georgia, I just wanted to write Feedback and thank you man. What you do is mind-blowing: explanations, visuals, everything is perfect in your videos. I know that it is so hard to do videos like this and respect you for this work. Main useful thing in your videos is that you explain it very carefully and you tell us everything in details, with your videos you help so many cinematographers to develop. I watch many other cinematographers on TH-cam who explain many things about cinematography, but its different type of information. Your information is very useful and inspiring. When I watch your videos I feel that I will be better of my self after ending your video. So thank you so much for everything and I hope you continue this type of videos. Who knows, maybe one day we will work together on the project, of course it will be big pleasure for me. Wish you all the best.

    • @RobEllisCinematographer
      @RobEllisCinematographer  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Wow thank so much for the kind words Irakli - I massively appreciate you letting me know how useful you're finding my videos and how accessible they are. I always try to explain things in a way that personally suits me, as I often struggle with learning from others as I feel like some information is missed out or glossed over - so I'm always happy to hear that works for other people too. Thank you so much!!! :)

    Hi Rob, as always great video! Tbh, I just knowing your channel few weeks ago and learned a lot from there at the point binging all your videos afterward hahaha. • @monique_rivera
    @monique_rivera 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Awesome tips! I've learned so much from your channel, and I'm so grateful for the knowledge you share! What is the name of that rod/pole you have over your cabinet where you clamp the larger tube light? (on 1:50 in the video)

    • @RobEllisCinematographer
      @RobEllisCinematographer  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Very happy to hear that - I appreciate it! :) That's a Falcon Eyes autopole - you're supposed to use them vertically to stand between floor and ceiling, but if you're careful and support them with heavier duty stands you can use them horizontally to support light weight fixtures - like tube lights!

    Amazing video. I have a question I am going to start buying more lights but I want to stay in same ecosystem. I am looking at Nanlite and Amaron. Which would you recommend.

    • @RobEllisCinematographer
      @RobEllisCinematographer  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would definitely be biased here, not least because Nanlite are sponsoring this series, but they're the fixtures I use and I think they're great - so definitely Nanlite from my perspective. Best thing to do is research what your needs are for lights and make your decisions based on that!

    Does anyone know of a more affordable alternative to the nanlites? They're just so expensive.

    • @RobEllisCinematographer
      @RobEllisCinematographer  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      A lot of these lights are similarly priced across brands depending on the functionality and specs/output - but you can always figure out how to do more with less, it might just take some research and experimentation/practise!
