They did, but it's 10 dollars more for all the dlcs, and the dlcs are getting a new real world creature that we vote for. To me, not getting ARK 2 in the bundle, but instead getting all the dlcs is a good solution, better then what I was asking for.
I love that would love it if they made it to where you could have the map cluster grouping. I personally am not a fan of either gen map granted I use them due to their availability and game breaking features but would love to be able to play official without running across shadowmanes baby stealing maewings dedi capping stryders and over powered drops such as gen 2 provides
I like your take on the announcement. You are right that the server updates will be tremendous. I run 2 rack servers from my home and have served this game to hundreds of people now. URE 5 implements many updates to dedicated servers (which official also uses) and things like Instanced bases will make for a much smoother experience for players on their clients. Ark current is based on URE 4.27 and was hacked together, basically forked, to make what we have now. That they are brining it back in line with URE means that the things they had to hack into place to make ark, ark, are now possible in URE 5. Most people are ignorant or just looking for reasons to justify getting handouts (why you see people RAGING that they said it would be free then changed their minds and bundled it). Its completely unjustified. As for the official servers, nah, let them go. The amount of cheating that occurred on them it needs to be fresh. And if they want to continue their nonsense they can just start up their own cluster.
Good to hear that it'll be smoother for the players, I do agree that the backlash is a bit much - especially people just wanting it all for free, which considering how massive of a project it must be, and how many hours the devs are going to have to put in to get it all done, is unreasonable. I do feel for players who have already bought the dlcs, which is why a discount is a good solution imo. the devs still make money and it rewards players who have already contributed to ark. When ark ASA releases, It'll likely be with trailers and announcements. It will probably bring new players to ark, who would then pay a similar price to what a large amount of current players have payed. Ark makes money from new players, and older players who initially refused are likely going to fold because they feel good about their discount. Think of it a bit like the live service stuff, releasing half finished games, finishing them and players are then excited and happy about what used to be the bare minimum. sure it makes the devs look bad, but it works, the money proves it. I understand that mindset of letting official go, the cheating is insane. But there are a lot of PvE players who spent years building and breeding, I think a bit more time would have been good. It's generally considered bad practise to instantly shut servers down when the next game releases. It's a hard pill to swallow for those playing for years, but if it wildcard/snail are adamant that it's either at the release of ARK ASA, or ARK 2, id rather it be ASA.
I would say there's 3 main problems. 1. We were lied to by the co founder 2. DLC maps will be resold 3. Official is getting instantly taken away on ASA release. There's a few more problem with this like will it actually be substantial, will it still be a buggy mess and so on since we didn't get any gameplay. Who knows maybe we'll start getting ASA concept art each month 😂 As for DLC creatures and items they will 100% have the same map roadmap as before when it comes to community maps meaning you wont actually be able to see these until the maps with those items have been out for sometime and in the case of drakes you'll be waiting till gen2 releases. Since why would they release likes of fjordur earlier than I dunno Extiction since them reselling the maps it's to maximise profit from ASA. This could be good but the way it's been handled and the reselling of DLC is very scummy imo.
I definitely think that telling us it would be free was a mistake, unfortunately they probably just went off what they were told - it is 100% snail games fault imo, seeing as they are desperate for money. (I remember hearing that they tried making a tek shield that was only accessible through paying for it, then a tek drill that would also cost money, but wildcard managed to block it.) It does suck that they are reselling DLC, best case scenario for us would be anyone who had the DLC get them on ASA, but that is defo not happening seeing as snails stock is so bad right now, so the best that is even possible would be a discount. I defo agree that taking official away that quickly is a bad move, as loads of players wont be motivated to move, but if they had more time to make their peace and then have seen ASA content, which should be higher quality, it would really encourage them to buy ASA. Sadly snail doesn't see it that way. I really hope it won't be buggy, a lot of sources say that the version of Unreal Engine 4 was messy, and that's why ARK is so bad, but it doesn't say anything of wildcards devs. Guess we will find out lol. "You'll be getting this cool feature" is no where near good enough, especially when NO specifics have been told. it is going to be worth every penny to me, I have 15k hrs in ark as is, so I got my $ worth I'm looking to replay ark and get new rockdrake woot!
