I just hope it's tonally dark. That's the key to what makes Fallout work, I think. Yes you can have goofy - VERY occasionally. But you need that dark tone first and foremost. Of raiders attacking water caravaners. Of super-mutants abducting people for "Unity". Of Vault-Tec's legacy being staggering cruelty to people who never deserved it. And of our heroes final reward being "good job, well done, now go and die someplace else". Nail the dark tone, and you get Fallout. Miss it and you'll have a generic western with power armour.
If you're looking at it from the perspective of a vault dweller then everything should be surprising. They've never seen the sky, a dog, sand. Hell, did the vaults have plants in them? lol
Let's be honest. As today's standards there is a 50% chance that this is good and 50% this will be crap. I hope this becomes one of the best series of the year.

You can find a crashed on in fallout tactics and i cant remember if it was cut content or not but there are terminal entries about the Prydwen that mention her sister ships. As for the name of the airship it was in the concept art released at the same time as the trailer. Thats how we know the show takes place in LA in 2296 and that the BoS airship is called the Caswennan. Which means DC brotherhood are back as the west coast chapters have been mostly wiped out
@@daxlucero2437it's not thr Prydwen. In the lore the Brotherhood had at the very least a dozen airships, most of which were destroyed when they attempted to cross the Rockies. The Prydwen was one of, if not the only survivor of the trip to the East Coast. It stands to assume the Western Brotherhood built more since that initial journey years before Fallout 4.

Series is gonna be good Directed by Jonathan nolan after all and even if he is not as good or famous as Christopher nolan I think he is gonna do a good enouth job considering he co-wrote some of Christophers best movies

I think this looks great but still some VFX to be added - visible quest markers that can be seen from miles away, characters inexplicably floating in the air, random small objects on the floor hurting the protagonist. Then it’ll be perfect.
Yeah oppenheimer technically did exist in the fallout universe, the fallout universe diverges from our real world history after ww2 where nuclear power was fully embraced and transistors weren't even invented till the 2070s hence the computers never advanced past 1970s level. But they made great advances in robotics and AI. Also the cold war never went away but America's enemy shifted from the soviets to the ccp.
Even if this show ends up being not great (which I hope it isn’t, I’m rooting for the show to be good), whoever put this trailer together did one hell of a job capturing the tone, setting, and just generally getting my interest in the show to peak. Looking forward to April.

I really like the colors in the trailer, the combination of both vibrant and dull makes it feel like a good mix between the older and newer games styles.
There's just something about the mix of retro-future scifi and post-apocalypse that makes Fallout so appealing to me. It's like all the atomic era's hopes, fears, and crazy speculations, all ramped to a high level. I don't expect the show to be perfect, but I do hope that it is going to be very good and hopefully worth more seasons.
That sound design on the transition of the post nuclear events to the explosions with the reverb 50s music… horrifying, beautiful, suspenseful, I’m covered in goose bumps. I really hope this lands.
I was really hoping for 'I don't want to set the world on fire.' But other than that ... looks very promising. My favorite franchise of all time. Hundreds of hours I've put in these games.
I mean it'd have been on the nose, and what's been used in trailers for the games, so it's a little nice they were a bit more creative with it while still capturing the feeling of a nuclear apocalypse.

I'm both excited and horrified. I love fallout. The most fundamental reason is the storytelling. I feel like there are very few people around that could write a story to the level of what fallout does, and the interaction of the player with the game and also in the reverse direction will make it a very difficult production. I think people will either love it or hate it, and a great deal of people just won't care for it. I hope they nail it, I really do.
watch "Westworld" and "Peripheral" or any Christopher Nolan movie because Jonathan Nolan help his brother with his movies alot. Generaly Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy are great composers of art they will nail it. Only sad thing is that they i think wouldn't be engage in new "Peripheral" anymore but i could be wrong.
Hopefully with the series they wont take any established characters and butcher them like they did Wheel of Time. Amazon destroyed Wheel of Time, their "reimagining" of it was atrocious. They completely took every character and changed all their personalities.
Judging by their faithfulness to the franchises enemies, factions, and designs (heck- even the font designs), I'd say this is shaping up to be absolutely incredible

@@CPorter Very bad idea. Original Fallout had a pretty dark ambient tracks for gameplay, "Maybe" was there just for an intro. Putting 60s music as gameplay tracks (movie tracks) is a terrible idea, cause it gives warm and loving vibes to a dark and violent reality that supposed to be shown (cause that was in the original game). But than again, bethesda ruined the game completely and made it into something different that's not a fallout anymore, even their first game (part 3) was a complete garbage compared to original. If this is the way they are going, well hopefully it will not be as shitty as the game. I don't have high hopes tho...
Expect at least a couple of songs so old they are already in the public domain. The show runners would be stupid to not use stuff in the public domain, it fits the aesthetic and they don't have to pay for it.

I'm already expecting the series to not follow Fallout canon whatsoever (especially after Bethesda making jet a pre-war drug even though it was after the war) and have terrible writing (which Bethesda is notorious for). It looks like the same search quest like Fallout 3 and 4 (search for my father for the former and search for my son for the latter). We'll see though. Nowadays, it's better to not have your expectations that high.

I just finished watching Season 1. I never played the games, but after reading a synopsis on the series I think the creators did a helluva job porting this to television. Act Man had a great breakdown on the show versus games, which so far I agree with. That's two for two with games having outstanding show adaptations. The other being The Last of Us.

This looks incredible, my dad was a massive fallout fan, clocked 1408 hours in fallout new vegas and 1603 hours into fallout 4, he sadly passed in 2018 and I used to remember always seeing him play Fallout and him saying they should make a show or movie about Fallout and now they have, he would have loved this show and watching this I felt like I was watching the trailer with him it brought a tear to my eye to see something that he wanted to happen become reality, amazing work Amazon, you guys nailed the look of the world of Fallout, cant wait

@marston_ Fallout games have become known for their humor and having B movie action/horror. This show reflects that pretty well. Not everyone's cup of tea, and yea it's written like a Marvel movie. Doesn't make it bad. Even things like character armor and plot convenience seems intentional in the show because it lends itself to Fallout game logic: Like how a stimpak can heal broken bones and fatal wounds. How characters seem to be able to fast travel in the show. How turrets have 2% accuracy and people can outrun them. Not a perfect show, but certainly among the better video game adaptions.
They defo kept that hidden but did show us a yau guai so we know big animals will be a thing at least. I just hope a deathclaw is used properly and not in a shit way like a hiding from it segment. I wanna see 5-6 BoS troops take one on so we can see how brutal one can be by killing 4 or so soldiers
I bet they put it in the show, it's the most iconic monster, but I'm afraid it's gonna appear later, maybe the season finale so that fans will loudly ask for a second season. I hope it's gonna have numerous seasons though, if The Walking dead can last so long without having so much to say, Fallout could have 20+ seasons with all the lore available.

Practical ages better than CGI 85% of the time so I'm always glad to see practical effects. They take more effort than CGI so it shows that the showrunners care.
@97javicthe power armour can be perfect practical without CGI, which is better for the show because they can put cgi in other places where it needs, another reason the power Armour isn't CGI in most of these shots is because its cheaper to make the armour than use CGI because of the fans

1:12 this moment just truly sells the charm of Fallout, a man traumatized by the wasteland sitting down in a suit of power armor with his face covered as the piano picks up. It feels so melancholy and sells what kind of world your in for.
Crossing my fingers and hoping this show captures the essence of the game. I really want it to be good. The attention to detail and the atmosphere shown in the trailer gives me a glimmer of hope. I'm excited to see how they'll bring the Fallout universe to life, especially with a character like Lucy. The balance of dark, violent elements with a touch of humor is key. I remember tearing up like a little man baby in excitement seeing this for the first time. hands down, one of the most hyped and sickest trailer reveals out there
This looks like it has potential. I like that it’s borrowing from multiple games, and has details as small as radroaches to entities as big as the Brotherhood of Steel. I can see the plot being that the vault is running out of resources and someone has to go into the wasteland (or whatever they refer to it), but danger ensues. I don’t expect everything to be perfect, but making it a show gives the series time to explore the world. And possibly gives some nods to the game. My biggest concern was how they would portray mutants, but they don’t look half bad. Nice to see familiar creatures like the yao guai and new ones like a mutated axolotl. I hope we see a deathclaw or even super mutants. And shoutout to Dogmeat just casually holding a human hand in his mouth.

@@artvandellay Fallout nukes are not real life nukes. They are dirty bombs the size of the Fatman/Littleboy. They leave behind much more radiation and for way longer than their real life counterparts. That's why the wasteland is still so uninhabitable 200 years later. Look up the Castle Bravo and Tsar Bomba nukes on youtube. Those would absolutely destroy that observatory if it was dropped in the same area. Not just the initial blast would be much larger. The shockwave from the Tsar Bomba would be so insanely more powerful than the bombs seen in the show. You can see the initial blast from the closest bomb does not touch the observatory and the shockwave doesn't seem to drop much of the buildings before it so I don't see why it would drop a sturdy building on a large hill.
Fallout nukes have never been realistic. You can witness every nuclear detonation in the games without going blind. The folk in the show watched nukes detonate without going blind
It's rare to see the 'personality' of a video game series reimagined as a show successfully, and this looks really good. This genuinely felt like watching a trailer for Fallout 5
@ExpletoryPenguin I think it's because fallout is all "personality" anyway. The world and lore is what makes the games what they are and since there's an abundance of that to reference it's easy to capture that fallout vibe. And since the games are so open and there really isn't an ongoing storyline for fallout the writers can make up any story they want within the fallout universe. Other games adaptations like the last of us for example have fleshed out characters that you need to be faithful to also, there's canon tou need to be faithful to as well to not piss off the fans. With fallout, they can make up an entire cast of characters not featured in any fallout games and it won't matter.
Fallout will forever be one of my favorite works of fiction set in an apocalypse. Glad to see there is some humor. Trailer gives me hope. Hoping to see a gritty and dark show that doesn’t forget to include the touch of humor that the developers are know for.
Fat chance, the emblematic dark humour that is characteristic of the original Fallout universe is not nearly politically correct for today’s overlords.
Always loved the ideas behind the Fallout series, Aesthetically pleasing, and looks exactly how a Live action Fallout should look like, lets hope it has a amazing story to go along with it.

@@PinshiJR brotherhood airships are mentioned across the games. You can find a crashed on in fallout tactics and i cant remember if it was cut content or not but there are terminal entries about the Prydwen that mention her sister ships.
As for the name of the airship it was in the concept art released at the same time as the trailer. Thats how we know the show takes place in LA in 2296 and that the BoS airship is called the Caswennan. Which means DC brotherhood are back as the west coast chapters have been mostly wiped out
@@daxlucero2437it's not thr Prydwen. In the lore the Brotherhood had at the very least a dozen airships, most of which were destroyed when they attempted to cross the Rockies. The Prydwen was one of, if not the only survivor of the trip to the East Coast.
It stands to assume the Western Brotherhood built more since that initial journey years before Fallout 4.
Walton Goggins is one of the most underrated actors of our time really looking forward to seeing him in this series!

What I was thinking. It’s the strength of these types of franchises. The trick is whatever new characters and new setting you have has to stick the landing. Fingers crossed the show can hold up on that end.

Yeah oppenheimer technically did exist in the fallout universe, the fallout universe diverges from our real world history after ww2 where nuclear power was fully embraced and transistors weren't even invented till the 2070s hence the computers never advanced past 1970s level. But they made great advances in robotics and AI. Also the cold war never went away but America's enemy shifted from the soviets to the ccp.

There's just something about the mix of retro-future scifi and post-apocalypse that makes Fallout so appealing to me. It's like all the atomic era's hopes, fears, and crazy speculations, all ramped to a high level. I don't expect the show to be perfect, but I do hope that it is going to be very good and hopefully worth more seasons.

I'm both excited and horrified. I love fallout. The most fundamental reason is the storytelling. I feel like there are very few people around that could write a story to the level of what fallout does, and the interaction of the player with the game and also in the reverse direction will make it a very difficult production. I think people will either love it or hate it, and a great deal of people just won't care for it. I hope they nail it, I really do.
watch "Westworld" and "Peripheral" or any Christopher Nolan movie because Jonathan Nolan help his brother with his movies alot. Generaly Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy are great composers of art they will nail it. Only sad thing is that they i think wouldn't be engage in new "Peripheral" anymore but i could be wrong.

@@CPorter Very bad idea. Original Fallout had a pretty dark ambient tracks for gameplay, "Maybe" was there just for an intro. Putting 60s music as gameplay tracks (movie tracks) is a terrible idea, cause it gives warm and loving vibes to a dark and violent reality that supposed to be shown (cause that was in the original game). But than again, bethesda ruined the game completely and made it into something different that's not a fallout anymore, even their first game (part 3) was a complete garbage compared to original. If this is the way they are going, well hopefully it will not be as shitty as the game. I don't have high hopes tho...
Expect at least a couple of songs so old they are already in the public domain.

I'm already expecting the series to not follow Fallout canon whatsoever (especially after Bethesda making jet a pre-war drug even though it was after the war) and have terrible writing (which Bethesda is notorious for).
It looks like the same search quest like Fallout 3 and 4 (search for my father for the former and search for my son for the latter).
We'll see though. Nowadays, it's better to not have your expectations that high.

I just finished watching Season 1. I never played the games, but after reading a synopsis on the series I think the creators did a helluva job porting this to television. Act Man had a great breakdown on the show versus games, which so far I agree with. That's two for two with games having outstanding show adaptations. The other being The Last of Us.

This looks incredible, my dad was a massive fallout fan, clocked 1408 hours in fallout new vegas and 1603 hours into fallout 4, he sadly passed in 2018 and I used to remember always seeing him play Fallout and him saying they should make a show or movie about Fallout and now they have, he would have loved this show and watching this I felt like I was watching the trailer with him it brought a tear to my eye to see something that he wanted to happen become reality, amazing work Amazon, you guys nailed the look of the world of Fallout, cant wait

@marston_ Fallout games have become known for their humor and having B movie action/horror. This show reflects that pretty well. Not everyone's cup of tea, and yea it's written like a Marvel movie. Doesn't make it bad. Even things like character armor and plot convenience seems intentional in the show because it lends itself to Fallout game logic: Like how a stimpak can heal broken bones and fatal wounds. How characters seem to be able to fast travel in the show. How turrets have 2% accuracy and people can outrun them. Not a perfect show, but certainly among the better video game adaptions.

I bet they put it in the show, it's the most iconic monster, but I'm afraid it's gonna appear later, maybe the season finale so that fans will loudly ask for a second season. I hope it's gonna have numerous seasons though, if The Walking dead can last so long without having so much to say, Fallout could have 20+ seasons with all the lore available.

The power armour suit in the vertibird looks practical which is awesome. Love seeing real costumes like that.
Practical ages better than CGI 85% of the time so I'm always glad to see practical effects. They take more effort than CGI so it shows that the showrunners care.
@97javicthe power armour can be perfect practical without CGI, which is better for the show because they can put cgi in other places where it needs, another reason the power Armour isn't CGI in most of these shots is because its cheaper to make the armour than use CGI because of the fans

This looks like it has potential. I like that it’s borrowing from multiple games, and has details as small as radroaches to entities as big as the Brotherhood of Steel. I can see the plot being that the vault is running out of resources and someone has to go into the wasteland (or whatever they refer to it), but danger ensues.
I don’t expect everything to be perfect, but making it a show gives the series time to explore the world. And possibly gives some nods to the game.
My biggest concern was how they would portray mutants, but they don’t look half bad. Nice to see familiar creatures like the yao guai and new ones like a mutated axolotl. I hope we see a deathclaw or even super mutants.
And shoutout to Dogmeat just casually holding a human hand in his mouth.

@@artvandellay Fallout nukes are not real life nukes. They are dirty bombs the size of the Fatman/Littleboy. They leave behind much more radiation and for way longer than their real life counterparts. That's why the wasteland is still so uninhabitable 200 years later.
Look up the Castle Bravo and Tsar Bomba nukes on youtube. Those would absolutely destroy that observatory if it was dropped in the same area. Not just the initial blast would be much larger. The shockwave from the Tsar Bomba would be so insanely more powerful than the bombs seen in the show.
You can see the initial blast from the closest bomb does not touch the observatory and the shockwave doesn't seem to drop much of the buildings before it so I don't see why it would drop a sturdy building on a large hill.
Fallout nukes have never been realistic. You can witness every nuclear detonation in the games without going blind. The folk in the show watched nukes detonate without going blind
It's rare to see the 'personality' of a video game series reimagined as a show successfully, and this looks really good. This genuinely felt like watching a trailer for Fallout 5

I think it's because fallout is all "personality" anyway. The world and lore is what makes the games what they are and since there's an abundance of that to reference it's easy to capture that fallout vibe. And since the games are so open and there really isn't an ongoing storyline for fallout the writers can make up any story they want within the fallout universe. Other games adaptations like the last of us for example have fleshed out characters that you need to be faithful to also, there's canon tou need to be faithful to as well to not piss off the fans. With fallout, they can make up an entire cast of characters not featured in any fallout games and it won't matter.
They changed almost all the lore from what has been mentioned so far.
then i hope this will satisfy you because fallout 5 is at the very least another 10 years away, if not more!
