I felt the pain of the song and of the animators. Beautiful work. The song seems to be quite personal at first but then the final verse expands to a global, historical scale. You’re critique is so right. ‘Hurt people hurt people’ is exactly how wars begin. How you can be so profoundly aware on the spot always amazes me. I can’t believe I wrote this just five hours ago on another channel… The cycle of war - Queen Victoria's family bullies a young awkward nephew / cousin with a withered arm, the future Kaiser Wilhelm II > The Great War > WW II > Korea > Vietnam > Serbia / Croatia > Iraq > Afghanistan > Ukraine. The bullied becomes the bully.
Great to see you back with Kalandra! This is such a great song and video. I love the way they seamlessly transition between ethereal and heavy. It's worth repeating what the band wrote about the great artist who created this video: The music video is made by the multi talented filmmaker, puppet maker and stop motion artist Martyna Koleniec. We are so incredibly proud of how she’s managed to make our storytelling and vision come to life. We didn’t really have to follow up much as she simply “understood” the task perfectly, which makes us both teary eyed and ever grateful. We hope it resonates with you as much as it does for us.
Hi again, Jessie ! A beautiful song, a beautiful video (a true masterpiece, in my opinion !), reacted to by a beautiful young woman... what else could a subscriber wish for ? Loved your reaction so much... again... nothing more needs to be added here. Looking forward to your Neyla upload now. Best wishes from Germany to TX : Gerry
This is a beautiful, captivating song and video. "I can't change the past but it's always coming back", hits me hard. I love too discovering new music through you and your community that I may have never have encountered without. Here's to a good week!
Kalandra are such a wonderful ensemble, very much enjoy their music. The whole album is delightful. This video brings to mind several music videos from Steven Wilson that were animated by Jess Cope. A slightly different style, but just as impactful. "Beautiful Scarecrow", "The Raven Who Refused to Sing", "Drive Home", and "Routine". All 4 are masterpiece videos and songs, and if you want to feel deeply, they're quite moving. Just not near as optimistic as Kalandra.
I loved how you sometimes had the same expression as the puppet in the video. You understood it perfectly. And the story got you so much that you basically reacted just to the meaning and not the music. Cool. Very emotional reaction.
great band and song, and greatly produced music video. stop motion videos take so much effort. one of the best music videos and songs using stop motion is steven wilson, routine. a masterpiece and a very tragic and sad one, too.
