The Melee combat needs to be on point with this as it is a big focal point of the dune universe. What I saw was a bit Janky not gonna lie but in fairness this is beta footage and funcom have conceded that this element needs work and the ranged combat is needing polishing. In terms of base building I like the way funcom have approached it even in conan exiles as it to be fair does have one of the better base building mechanics in the survival genre. Bases are typically a place built near prominent resources, have access to specific crafting resources (benches etc) and a means of storage but in conan exiles people have been able to build pretty elaborate and ornate buildings and I think it's not a bad thing to do here. The game overall looks promising and they do have the resources to pull it off. I mean they have the support of legendary pictures who made the recent movies not to mention the Herbert Estate itself.
@@glasreacts863 There were other things I wanted to see. For example I wanted to see a spice mining operation running. Now in the deep desert footage we saw vehicles that seemed built for the purpose and Ornithopters built with the purpose of carrying vehicles. But that's all Funcom spoke about mining in the deep desert is like the raids of other MMO's with the worm as the boss butt rather than fighting it you're evading it. Guys in sand bikes and ornithopters deploying thumpers to distract it away from the groups harvester. We never saw that. Instead what we got was a generic PvP Battle with a large worm for a flourish
It gna play like conan exiles ur workbench to craft weapons armor etc....play conan lol u can recruit npcs in ur base to make ur armor and stuff for u or adventure with u tht game should give u an idea of the survival aspect
I hope they really fix the combat because if end game is heavily focused on PvP and the combat is bad, this game will flop. If they perfect the combat I can see this being an amazing game, I'm so hyped!
this was made by the conan exiles devs, love the game HATE the pve, nothing had weight there was no indication other then a sound that you hurt the thing, even though youre swinging a giant clever into their skull.
your points in terms of combat worries are valid, but isn't it too early in develeopement for that ? lack of feedback on bullets impact and melee hits are yet to be implementend imo
I was thinking this too. And I'm new to mmo's, but I can't help but feel the combat should have a bit more impact, especially with melee combat. It's coming off a bit flat to me so far. It's still in development, so we'll have to see how things progress.
I love Funcom, but COMBAT is absolutely what they are always WORST at. The Secret World died because of it - it was an amazing concept, the narrative was incredible... but the gameplay, the combat which is what you do most of the time, was pretty awful. I loved Age of Conan's combat, but that didn't hit with a lot of people and where they fucked up is having a polished starter island and no voiced NPCs after the starter island. I really hope they nail it with this one but the combat needs some work for sure.
I never played Age of Conan, so if you say you loved the combat in that Funcom developed game, then I'll have to check out the combat in Age of Conan. Maybe that'll restore my faith in this game by giving me context on how good it should minimally be.
@@glasreacts863 It wasn't so much the combat itself --but the EXECUTIONS. Look up 'Age of Conan executions'. Basically they tried something new with combat which I applaud. But they also had unique execution animations that were absolutely awesome based on whatever weapon you had. Just look up a youtube compilation :)
This game will live or die by the way they make the combat. From the footage shown the combat isnt good. It's very stiff looking and not fluid and telegraphed. There needs to be really good systems implemented within the combat for pvp for balance and fairness sake. Button mashing just isnt an answer.
Upset isn't the case. Concern is the more fitting word. You're saying what I said, the animation when downing an npc looks a bit flat. They still have time to improve it, tho, if that's their focus.
"ive seen that in the movie" the game!

I felt this could be a more beta footage, too. I hope funcom adds a more polish look to the combat

yo, that's what I'm concerned about 😄

I hope you're right. I like the idea of this game and would like this game to succeed.
I think mmo combat has to be toned down a decent amount because of the high amount of players rendered during fights. So it is fairly normal for mmos

I dont totally disagree with your input on the combat in this game, but i will say this, it definitely looks better than Outlaws combat 🤣
😄ubisoft gonna knock on your door for this comment

I agree with stiff looking. I'm curious if ragdoll physics would improve the death animation.
@@glasreacts863 nobody ever complains about rag dolls so I think it would be a good implementation
all i hear is yapping lol. the combat looks great just the animations look weird. sounds like your just getting upset at everything

Looks cheap af, and ofc way worse than how it was in the old trailer. It's sad, really,
So I'm not alone in this. I hope the combat feels better than it's looking so far
