Maybe I'm wrong But' think you're the only truck driver that explains the intricacies of trucking in foreign countries. As you rightly say, there are drivers who do know the in's & out's, but' there's always the rookie who's New to trucking aboard. Keep up the good work....
Another fine video. You can bet the bureaucrat at H&S who came up with the idea to not allow the windows all the way down never drove or rode in a lorry for any length of time!! I wasn't aware that so many people were falling out of lorry windows to trigger such a rule!! Stay safe
I feel your pain with the Daf windows, I'm quite vertically challenged and reversing looking through the window is made awkward 😊. Saying that they are a comfortable truck to be in . Great video Sheralin , I travelled all around Europe in the 80s with my dad in the lorry , every school holiday , loved it !! My dad had his own lorries in the 70's and did the Middle East run for 5 years in an ERF 5MW. Keep up the good work and take care .
Nine countries in 1776km! That's one of the things I miss about living in the UK. Here, I can leave my house near Toowoomba in Queensland, Oz, travel north 2000km & still be in the same state, Qld. Enjoying travelling vicariously with you!
😂😂 Yes, I was getting my breakfast in Poland and Johno from Roadtrain Adventures asked me what Poland was like, I sent him a photo of where I was, and then a photo of the tv, “it’s nice here, but can’t understand a word on the tele though!” 😂😂
Any driver suffering from an overweight problem: start driving for shopdistribution!!! You’ll be physically active for at least 3-4 hrs per working day!! A colleague of mine was 150kg* doing international transport and asked for a change to shopdistribution…. He lost 30kg in a couple of months!! (* don’t ask me about stones…) I like this vid; thumb+subscription! Greetings from a colleague, Henk, the Netherlands.
Hi Sherallin, great video. The ivy you're asking about is actually Virginia Creeper. Goes a gorgeous red colour in Autumn. Talking about shifts, my hubby was a shift worker for all of his working life. So when we took our first camping trip to France, we drove through the night, and when we got to Rouen, we stopped at a caravan eaterie on the side of the road. It was around 1:00am, and we got sausage and chips. Tom ate is with no problem, me? Know way. I don't know why, but my body seems to shut down to eat anything. I was even thinking of changing my working hours to work nights so I could be on a diet with no problem🤣🤣🤣
Another great video. Things look nice at night time. As much as I don't like driving at night because I get tired, I like it. Also as you're using the GoPro now, in the settings you can turn off the blinking red light so it doesn't reflect on the window at night. I see the screen on too. You can turn all of this off in the settings.
Hi Sherralin, Mark, 141 scania type bloke, sad V8 addict. ( RETIRED NOW) SUPERB video. You give up and coming eu drivers so much helpful info, all nationalties. Back in my day it was seat of your pants and fingers crossed. I was lucky to have a load of experienced guys only too pleased to give you help guidance and encouragement. That was 40 years ago but, the point is... Never wing it, ask, there's always help. It's surprising how many drivers are only too pleased to give you help. That's how they started out. P.S. I'm a Scanny man ...who'd have guessed🤔 , but that Do me A Favour (yorkie bar) has a nice sounding Paccar unit under the bonnet. Least it sounds like an engine 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣 Take care MARK
We've just got some new DAF s at work ( poverty spec as they rarely do nights out ) . Really comfy but wouldn't pull your hat off. Take care sherralin . looking forward to the next one
Passing Berlin reminds me of a few years back when i had to deliver there in a 3.5 ton Iveco, and that was only part of a shift lol Left LU7 Thurs 8 30 pm arrived 9am Friday, left Berlin 10 15 am then decided to stop at Venlo at 7 30 pm Friday evening 1150 miles none stop well only to deliver and fuel / coffee,
Another educational one, I started on containers, UK only out of Felixstowe, all automated now. Shame about independent truck stops closing, especially in Spain, if I started again it would definitely be all new, last tacho I used was paper in a CD like slot. I really do miss it though, health stopped me unfortunately. Thanks 😊
The DAF is a year old, been in the company since new but I wasn’t driving it. It rides lower than the Scania and it’s still under warranty, making it more sensible for this job. I was hoping to get the Scania back but I think he’s decided to keep me in this for a while. 😁
Hello, I don't know where you crossed the border from Holland to Germany but you said that you drove towards Hamburg and than Berlin. I drive this way at least once a year visiting relatives in Berlin but I never took the long way towards Hamburg. It's quite a bit shorter going towards Osnabrueck, Hanover, Magdeburg, Berlin and Frankfurt/Oder. Yes, Germany has recently started border checks, those checks are sporadic on most crossings but slightly more often on border crossings to Austria, the Czech Republic and Poland in an attempt to stop illegal immigrants
Hi, another great, informative video. Can I ask you about tachographs? Will this bluetooth be fitted to just euro trucks or UK? At present, do you have to stop to change countries, or can you punch in as you drive? Always had an interest in tachos as I used to fit them when they first came out (yes, I'm old, lol ) take care, big hug x
Hi 👋🏻 yes they have to be fitted to European lorries too. Yes you have to stop, nothing can be changed on the tacho without stopping. Thanks for taking an interest 😁
I am a little surprised by your dislike of the Daf, are you just interested in which lorry has the most power? I always found the interior space and especially the bunk much superior to Scania. also the handling and general ride comfort. But of course if you are used to driving a more powerful vehicle then given one in a different power range . you may find it frustrating if you are mostly fixated on power.
The interior of the DAF is large but I find it not thought out properly. There’s very little storage (one cupboard which has the microwave (2nd one in a year) and two very small ones that have the spotlights in) for example, there’s no option for rear cupboards so everything is stored on the top bunk. There’s no 24v socket, the infotainment system is poor, not to mention the strange thing with the windows. All three that my boss bought have had major issues with driveline problems too. It’s not so much the power I miss but the stamina to keep it going up hill.
DAF all day long, Scania are total Shite vehicle, you would only ever own one if you had any sence, We have DAFs done over 1.5 millon Engine / Box / Axle never touched, Scania would not do half that, Plus you cannot beat the bed and comfort of a DAF Scania and Renault crap still use Trailer Suspension on the rear axle from the 70s lol there ride is much like a Standard Fordson Tractor , so would be very good if you area Carrot Cruncher ?.
@@GBtrucklady To be fair I have been retired a while so my comparisons might not apply to modern motors. I still think the XF was an all round better lorry than the bucking bronco Scania.
I had xg plus 530 on demo cab is exelent. Rest is poor engine and box don’t compare with my fh540 no where near on the pull ope u r well tipping in Weston’s cider again tomorrow lol
Brilliant video. You are an amazing driver, resourceful and explaining everything clearly. Can't wait for the next part. God speed .
Great post..
You are the only one who explains in detail what is required for a safe trip across Europe..
Look forward to seeing the next one.
