the ending made me reflect on what my personal ride to happiness might be. i'm in the slightly weird situation that my fascination for roller coasters started through youtube in the middle of the pandemic, and before that, i was almost always too afraid to ride roller coasters. so i ended up knowing a lot about roller coasters, while not really knowing the feeling of riding a roller coaster (beyond family coasters), until i went to heide park with my friends last summer and was unexpectedly blown away by desert race. i was totally unprepared for this ride, because nobody ever talks about it, i had heard about colossos and flug der dämonen being really good, but i didn't know anything about that cheaply themed tiny launched coaster in the back if the park. i had also never ridden a launched coaster or ejector pops akin to those s-hills, so i was absolutely blown away by the experience, even though desert race is such an unimpressive coaster stat-wise. and that first ride experience alone still makes desert race special for me, it's still probably my favourite ride at the park, even though others are probably "better" on paper, because desert race just makes me happy
edit: also it's absolutely criminal how you are still below 1k subs, your videos are some of my absolute favourite roller coaster nerd content on the internet

ride to happiness is a revolution, it s an experience and definitively best coaster on earth ! It s a perfection on all aspects ! What is also appreciable is the coaster is located in a family park then the queue is always very limited (15 to 20 min max)

13:48 getting this bit while facing towards the top hat is SO GOOD because you get ejector over the hill and then when it banks it whips you forwards WHILE ALREADY IN THE AIR , genuinely the craziest moment of airtime on any coaster I’ve ridden. Only thing that comes close is the drop on this ride on the back

  • @seanjose219

Very well written and edited with great points.
I rode this when it first opened and felt like it must be one of the best in the world but had no idea as I'd barely been to many parks and no enthusiats outside the EU visited for about a year because of travel restrictions. We're very lucky to have this in Belguim.
I've only been on it twice because they won't let me ride alone and my carer got the worst bruises I've ever seen from riding it. It's my second favourite after Kondaa but I'm going back to ride both soon so can reevaluate after many more rides hopefully. The fact that every ride is different probably does elevate RTH above other coasters however I found Kondaa to be more intense on my rides. RTH is definitely more fun but I crave the intense forces of Kondaa and prefer Troy and Kondaa for that feeling like you're going to come off the track. This does rely on perfect conditions though as both need optimum warm up time to get the really wild experience.
And I miss that buzz so much, you articulate the downfall of bieng an enthusiast so well. The antidote to our desensitization will be falcons fury I think.

My first 'ride to happiness' was The Corkscrew at Alton Towers, I remember seeing the iconic double Corkscrew advertised on a Mars bar and knew I needed to ride it! Since that day in 1986 I've had many rides to happiness, Nemesis, Shambhala, Helix, Mako and most recently Ride To Happiness.
This 42 year old British kid got the exact same feeling on RTH. Pure joy, unrivalled forces and extreme happiness!
I've still yet to ride an RMC, a 4D coaster, an Intamin Blitz or a Giga/Strata coaster. This makes me happy knowing there are coasters out there that can give me that child like feeling again!
    Thanks for this video!

But then i found myself being disappointed by ride for "not being forcefull" or "have a litttle rattle" but i realise now especially after this video that its not about the coaster but the happiness you get from it and you can only get that happiness if you take it for what it is and not just another coaster to criticise

I'm gonna ad my opinion that nobody cares about:
I have been to Plopsaland twice, once in January 2022 and last June, on both occasions the ride was a walk-on nearly the entire day. On that most recent Visit I was lucky to be a part in an ERT on this insane coaster. This ride is great but the forces take a toll on you, you are more than correct when you said it's not marathon-able. Halfway into our 2 Hour ERT my body internally communicated to me to stop and get out. This was the last ride I did on Ride to Happiness, it was not fun, my body was begging me like: ''GET THE F*CK OFF THIS RIDE OR WE GON HAVE A PROBLEM''
The Area where Ride to Happiness in is absolutely beautiful, the vegetation and magical music makes it feel insanely cool. When the name and Theme of this coaster was announced, everyone clowned on it (including me), but for this caster the name and theme actually work so well.
The station is absoluetly magical, the ambient music together with the voice of the robo woman is so calming and beautiful.
These trains look absolutely beautiful and they are some of my favorite coaster trains. The restraints and their locking mechanism are a big reason why this coaster is so good, if you have room the Airtime feels so much stronger than when you get stapeled. If you want some room make sure to block the lap-bar coming down further until you dispatch.
The drop part of the Top-Hat is insane, during one ride in the back car, I had a scary almost too much amount of space. We were perfectly alligned for a backwards drop with 0 spinning, we dropped down that Top-Hat and my sould left my body. That airtime with that much space was so intense my body thought this is a near-death experience, it was so strong and terifying but so awesome. This definetly was one of the most intense Airtime moments I have experienced. I imagine this is what it feels like getting pulled down into the nine circles of Hell xD
Taking the Zero-G Roll and the Double Inverting Dive Loop sideways is insane, when you flip forwards, the constant fliipping motion pulls you out of the seat for the entire rotation. It's incredibly weird but so good.
Many people like to complain about the turn before the 2nd launch being ''forceless'' or ''wasted potential''. I think it's completely okay for this one element to give you a break when, every other element on this ride compensates in my opinion.
Compared to a lot of other thoosies, I felt like the 2nd launch is actually stronger than the 1st. The Airtime is also insanely strong, maybe that's part of the reason why I think the 2nd launch is more intense.
The Double Inverting Dive Loop is so disorienting, on half my rides I literally lost track and couldn't tell if I was right-side up, upside-down or sideways. It is pure chaos.
The hill immediatly afterwards is weird but so good, I always expected a sustained ejector moment but then there is this sudden whip to the side that always took me completely off-guard. And the 2 final ejector moments on the Double up are equally as insane.
    Alright I'm done here.
edit 1: the point about ''mediocre coasters'' getting stale is something I realized a few years ago, this is why I just try to have fun on any coaster I ride, even if it's just a kiddie coaster or yet another B&M.
edit 2: my yearly themepark merchandise budget ran out after purchasing a Ride to Happiness Shirt. :/

Quick question - was it ever confirmed Hans Zimmer did the music onride? All I know is he did the original Tomorrowland theme and the onboard audio is based on that.
Also, imo it's a front row ride. And the reason for which this one spins faster than Time Traveler is because RTH has no spin brakes. Basically, there's a sort of braking system around the metal disc of the carts that makes it spin slower. But, as a bit of an experiment shortly after opening day, Plopsa decided to try the ride with these brakes turned off, which most people actually preferred. So nowadays, it's always running with the braking turned off, essentially meaning it's 100% freespinning

Great review of The Ride to Happiness, have subscribed to your channel. I totally get what you say about enjoying a coaster like an excited teenager and that is why I absolutely love RTH and have it as my No.1 coaster. I often find that when I ride a new coaster that is highly ranked by enthusiasts, I am a bit disappointed and underwhelmed after my first ride, but not so with RTH. Think some enthusiasts just go by stats and dismiss coasters that aren't the tallest, fastest or with the most elements. I tend to come off a coaster and just go by how much I enjoyed it. A coaster I love is Alpina Blitz at Nigloland in France, the stats may not be impressive but I find it so much fun and comfortable, want to reride it as soon as I come off. I haven't ridden any coasters outside of Europe and the only RMC's I've ridden are Untamed and Wildfire which I loved but didn't come close to dethroning RTH as my No.1. My top five coasters would be 1.RTH, 2.Toutatis, 3.Untamed, 4. Wildfire, 5.Kondaa with the likes of Taron, Balder and Alpina Blitz making it into my top 10. Keep up with good reviews based on your personal opinion and don't get influenced by criticism in the comments.

it's a shame the rest of Plopsaland isn't en par with Ride to Happiness - if it was, it would be an insane park. If they really want to be among the top 5 of Europe, a lot needs to happen. My experience with Holiday Park (part of Plopsaland group) was more balanced, although Expedition GeForce wasn't as big of a highlight as Ride to Happiness. And now Holiday Park receives an €80M investment, while Plopsaland has managed to mess up those kids' Free Fall Towers which sit in every other park. I am glad I rode this coaster, but I don't feel like repeating that long drive without any substantial new addition to Plopsaland in the near future again.

@@tomw485 I've ridden RtH and 3 of the Arrow 4Ds.
Eejanaika is crazy, but RtH is even crazier. Eejanaika may be more extreme at points, but the main difference for me is the out of control feeling on RtH. On Eejanaika, the extremeness feels very planned - because it is! (That's not a bad thing.) If you ride it several times, you know what to expect - even if it's awesome and intense.
But there is so much more randomness in RtH. Literally every moment of the ride can be completely different, depending on what angle of spin you happen to hit it at and how fast you happen to be spinning at that moment. No matter how many times you ride it, you have no idea what to expect at any moment on the ride. That's what makes RtH so extreme and so FUN!

So, I realized that it was pretty rude to say that your opinion is crazy. I was not at all trying to say you’re opinion is completely invalid because it’s not. I haven’t been on RTH yet, but watching reviews like this and looking at the G-Force meter on TH-cam, RTH is more intense in terms of airtime (and laterals obviously) but I’ll share with you a better reason why I like Velocicoaster more. I prefer the more industrial theme of Velocicoaster’s plaza, but I can’t deny that both coasters are beautiful. I also have looked a pictures of RTH on RCDB and I prefer the elements on Velocicoaster that interact with the pathways, especially on the bridge entrance. As for the line, I think Velocicoaster’s theming is very overlooked. Obviously people mention it a lot but the queue is unmatched by any queue I’ve seen. Along with the elements in the first half being so tight and compact. It makes for some airtime in unexpected places. The launch is also more powerful on Velocicoaster. The second launch is honestly very cool being completely indoors, and having such open trains. Then the top hat is perfection the sustained airtime in the front is great, but the back lasts from the beginning of the apex all the way to the pullout. And it’s strong ejector too. I know RTH’s is stronger, but it’s not as sustained by the looks of it. Obviously you know the layout of Velocicoaster but I just want to talk about the mosasaurus roll and how it is my personal favorite element on a coaster. I could never see a coaster as good as Velocicoaster because the only flaw in my opinion is the twisted hill through the rocks. You also did mention a flaw with RTH, and with the only decent theming included it’s probably going to be a #2 coaster for me if or when I get to ride it.

What do you think about the new coaster in holiday park that will open in 2026? They say it will be more compact and so even more intense, but honestly I can't see it being better than rth. It's already much extreme, and it probably will end up being too much for many people, me included. I also think it's the perfect level of intensity, being a mix of everything without (for me) being too much, just perfect.
Also, I hate this project, which will steal rth's theme and uniqueness, and this makes me so sad

The thing is that CEO of plopsa said it will be more intense so "more spectacular", and I don't think that the more intense the better, I don't want to agree with this statement. @@Thelightning1outThe thing is Steve is very repetitive and lacks some originality and charm along with several different elements. RTH every element is unique and the charm of the ride with the theming and music and spinning beats anything SteVe has. The airtime is honestly crazier than SteVe because of the way you take it and the uniqueness of it that comes with it being on a spinning coaster. Steel vengeance is amazing, but RTH is so unique and charming, yet intense and frightening.

@Smilingsmiler I mean whilst I politely disagree, I find it a bit insulting that you decided to watch a full analysis and just disagree not with a well thought out review of your own, but instead just a blunt and uninformative statement. Just saying a specific ride is better for your preference and not stating why doesn't help anyone.

Each of us have our own opinions. It’s perfectly fine to disagree with me, but please don’t come into the comments with nothing more to say to me than an immature comment negating my opinion, especially if you haven’t been on Ride to Happiness. As for those other coasters, Ride to Happiness is leaps and bounds ahead of Iron Gwazi, Zadra, and Velocicoaster (coasters I’ve ridden), and I can all but guarantee I’d like it better than Steel Vengeance and Fury 325. I explain why numerous times in the video why it surpasses them for me, but if you’d like to bypass all that and choose to trash my personal preferences, I don’t have much more to say to you.

@@GooseDuck-ft4ko I almost feel as though you haven't watched the video, or at least not the full thing. You have unintentionally, or intentionally, become the epitome of every single thing that Coaster Critic has warned us about, about what we could become as enthusiasts. In this ending, he talks on how as enthusiasts, we have gotten to a point in which we don't ride coasters just with the intent of fun. That's really what coasters are about, and it seems you have entirely forgotten that fact. We often look at records, height, forces, airtime moments, with a view of pure awe. Now in reality, they don't matter, what matters is that it's fun. Ass, the guest on the video, even said that RTH's intensity (which is not dependant on it's height or speed), is almost too much due to the spinning. It spins, that is intense. I've found Spinball Whizzer, a Maurer spinning coaster, to be more enjoyable than Rita, Oblivion and TH13TEEN, rides in the park marketed as far more intense. Why? I personally find spinning fun. You may not, I do not know, but I do, and Coaster Critic does. BECAUSE WE HAVE DIFFERING OPINIONS.
I'd like to note here that these differing opinions, between you and I and Coaster Critic, are the only reason that coasters are interesting. It's like if there was a perfect car in each price bracket, a perfect food item, a perfect anything that was unbeatable, the world would be more and more disinteresting for every one that existed. Opinions keep the world interesting, not Steel Vengeance, Eejanaika, Fury 325, etc. They're great rides, but they ain't perfect, and neither is RTH, but let them be fun, and let them be accepted as someone's favourite damn ride.
I haven't ridden any of the coasters you or CC mentioned, I've mainly stuck to the UK and I haven't even been to Thorpe Park and the big one was closed on my day at BPB. I've only ridden about 50 coasters, a little less. But what I have done, despite my circumstances, despite my lack of riding 200+ft coasters, I have had fun. I'd say that's far more valuable than riding some enormous behemoth of a fast, quick, long coaster. One of my least favourite coasters, The Ultimate, was long, that fits your requirement for length. It hurt, it wasn't fun. The Smiler? 98ft, and sure it has the inversion record, but that's something people complain about. I love Galactica of all coasters, it's above Nemesis for me, because I had fun and it was an experience that I hadn't felt. I wouldn't be shocked if I'd place it above Tatsu if I ride it. I had fun and it was nothing like what I had ever ridden before. That's all I care about when I'm riding a ride, and sure, you might be different, but please understand that not everyone is precisely like you, you're acting like an entitled self obsessed asshole.
