Top 10 Things to do in Celaya, Guanajuato, Mexico - There's No Tourists Here!

  • This was my third visit to Celaya. Everyone in Mexico that I meet when I say I'm going back to Celaya asks why? There's no tourism here, not even a walking tour of the historic city center. They do have a culture center but it's more for locals, but thanks to my photographer friend Natha, he always hooks me up with the be tours and access to all of the festivals in town.
    If you have some extra time, check out Celaya while you're visiting Guanajuato and San Miguel de Allende.

    I’m so shocked someone made a TH-cam video about this city lol. I’m originally from Chicago so seeing something positive out of this city is nice. Great job man.

    I think. There are other options to do , 1) go to alameda , 2) eat a tostada at carmen's church 3) come back to the alameda to eat " churros" 4) drink a mezcal front the calzada 5) a good ice cream at zapote's neighbourhood
    6) visit the octavio Ocampo museum

      Thanks for the tips, I'll mark those on my Google Maps and check them out next time. I'll probably be back for the Exploding Hammer Festival, possibly for the Luminaires parade if it's happening this year.

    And one more thing you should have to visit, el Estadio Miguel Alemán Valdés to see a Celaya game, that team is where Emilio Butragueño retires from playing professional soccer, alongside with Hugo Sánchez and his fellow countryman Michel

    I have been going to and selling in the Tianguies Los Lunas for every Tres Reyes for the last 22 years. I love the city, the people. Thank-you for advertising my future all year home when I retire I love it so much there. The entire town is a buffet! I walk out of my apartment and just down the street is a vegetable market where the vegetables were walking in the fields the day before, so fresh! Next to the vegetables is a Jugeria where I can get any of those vegetables or fruits juiced and put in a liter bag to take home. Just a little further down I can get tortas or gorditas or enchiladas. In Alameda is a great little ice cream cart with the best Pinion icecream. I have never felt it to be dangerous and I walk the streets all the time as I dont need a car in El Centro. Just be aware just like any city anywhere.

    Hello sir, I plan on visiting celaya also this coming April but I am a bit nervous and afraid about the safety issues. What are some tips you can give me to stay safe? What hotels do you suggest? Thanks in advance.

    • @ToddsMexico
      @ToddsMexico  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I like to stay in Centro at Hotel Gómez de Celaya, it's right on the Zocalo, very walkable and a lot to see around there. Most of Celaya you need to uber, drive or take the bus or taxis. Just don't go in sketchy areas or walk alone at night outside of Centro or by Parque Alameda, that's a nice area too, very walkable, cafes, restaurants, nice park and street food.

      Im not going to say Mexico is safe, it has crime just like many other places. I have family that lives in Celaya and a lot of friends. I grew up there so I know a lot of people. I am going to go there with my girlfriend in July. I’ve asked all my friends there and although they said its scary, but everything that happens there is between the bad people. As a tourist or normal person who’s not involved in any of that business, you’re going to be fine. Don’t travel alone, be nice to the people and don’t cause any scenes. You should be fine. Please let me know how your trip goes !!

      @@brandon1997old hello sir, thanks for the reply. I’ve already gone and came back almost a year ago. I loved celaya, I landed in Leon and drove by myself all the way to celaya and stayed 3 nights at the doubletree hotel near the golf course and university. The hotel was very accommodating and comfortable, the drive was only a few minutes into the downtown area and i loved it. I was alone all along and was happy to be there when the arranged a food festival also. I would love to return for more time someday to get to know more cool people and enjoy the city longer.
