    Two questions: 1. How does one know the blockchain a token is on? Is this important;)? If I want to bring over a token will there be multiple blockchains to select from? 🤷🏻‍♀️
    2. If one was to sell all, do they leave a fee for the transaction in a balance somewhere ?

    00:11:20 when you send eth from coinbase to tangem you did not "UPDATATED/CONFIRMED" tangem card with eth transaction therfore if you would/had to install the tangem app on new phone and activate it with your already activated tangem card the eth you just send won't be there because this transaction was not "UPDATED/CONFIRMED" with the tangem card when you have done it. - am i right?

    • @CryptoDad
      @CryptoDad  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure, what you're referring to here. But every crypto transfer I make in the video arrives in the wallet safely and securely and would show up if I were to install the Tangem app on a different device using the same cards.

    • @LabNr8
      @LabNr8 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes of course "coins" come to the wallet but that informatin from the app is not registered on tangem card because you did not confirmed transaction with nfc scanning. so if you for some reason must install the app from scratch on the phone and you restore your wallet from tangem the recovered wallet will be missing the transaction that wasn't saved to tangem after you made it.

    • @CryptoDad
      @CryptoDad  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LabNr8 OK I see what you’re saying now. You’re saying that a deposit won’t register since I didn’t have to confirm with the card. It doesn’t need to, because incoming transactions don’t need an authorization. But when the wallet is re-created on a new device, all of the information contained in the public, facing part of the wallet, including incoming transactions and current balances can be derived from the private key that is on the card. The private key is what created the wallet in the first place, Of course at the time, it was an empty balance. But when it re-creates the exact same wallet, it would show whatever balances have been added. Remember the addresses are on the Blockchain, when it creates a Wallet, it simply reads the information contained in that Blockchain address, if there have been incoming transactions, it will know about them.

    • @LabNr8
      @LabNr8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Always appreciate your content. Keep up the great work. I have noticed that there is a disproportionate number of videos on how to setup wallets and move digital assets into wallets. What is needed are videos showing the proper way to take profits from a wallet and move them into fiat in a bank account. If you would create a video showing how to do that, that would be a must see video and possibly a first of its kind.

    • @CryptoDad
      @CryptoDad  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great point! Over the last year or so, I've always tried to make it a point to show not only how to fund the wallet, but how to transfer crypto out of the wallet. As far as when to take profits, that's more of a trading issue. I try to stay out of that kind of advice.

    • @anthonyputorek7095
      @anthonyputorek7095 ปีที่แล้ว

      @CryptoDad Thanks. Yes, I'm not interested in when to take profit. But rather the process or steps from selling/converting to moving off a wallet into a traditional bank account for use.
      Sounds like you have made videos demonstrating that. I'll have to do a better job searching your video catalog. Thank you for the response, and keep the great content coming.

    • @CryptoDad
      @CryptoDad  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@anthonyputorek7095 well, as far as banks go, there aren’t too many that will accept crypto directly at least not yet. If you’re looking to cash out, your best option is a cryptocurrency exchange like Coinbase or Kraken. You can connect your bank account to those exchanges so that when you make trades for cash, you can withdraw directly to your bank.

    The best part about this is style of wallet is not needing to be at a computer to transact. I hate that about my ledger nano s. I can only go about my trades when I have my computer in front of me. feels very early 2000s. whereas I never leave the house without my wallet and my phone. so having a tangem card with me means I’m always about to make crypto transactions. securely. anywhere…. brilliant.

    You're a great explainer! Can you please explain how to decide which network to select when adding coins to the wallet? Many thanks for your help.

    • @CryptoDad
      @CryptoDad  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That really depends on where you're going to buy your coins. It makes sense to use the networks that have lower fees. But not every exchange supports every network. So for example, if you want to store USDT on your Tangem, It wouldn't really make sense to enable USDT on the Tron network since. you can't buy US tether in Tron format if you're using Coinbase. Of course, if you were using Binance you could. So it's really a matter of which exchanges you have access to. The simple answer to your question is you should enable the networks that have the lowest fees, so you'll save money. But you need to be aware of how to use each network as well. The safe bet is the Ethereum network. It's supported almost universally, even though the fees are slightly higher

    I am currently usiing Nano S (you helped me greatly diving up each crypto wallet for different purposes.) Can the Tangem also divide each wallet into several subwallets as Ledger can?) 2. If the user opts for the seed phrase does it need to be entered on each card during setup? 3. Can the user see the total value of all the coins as one can on Ledger Live? Thanks, you have the best crypto TH-cam channel.

    • @CryptoDad
      @CryptoDad  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You cannot create multiple accounts within each crypto. There's only one account for each crypto. When you set up the seed phrase it's very similar to the non seed phrase setup. You simply sync the cards up. You don't have to enter the seed phrase. You simply write it down when it's presented to you. And yes, you can see the total value of your portfolio at the top.

    How and where do the fees come from moving crypto from say Coinbase to Tangem wallet?

    • @CryptoDad
      @CryptoDad  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Every cryptocurrency including bitcoin has built-in Blockchain fees. It’s just how the system was designed. The fees are implemented slightly differently, depending on the Blockchain, but basically it’s coded into the system. Or shall we say it’s part of the computer program that makes it run. The small transaction fees generated for each transaction incentivize the people that are maintaining the Blockchain. In other words there should be some motivation for people to maintain the Blockchain or it would just die, it’s a decentralized system, but it works pretty well.

    question, just received my cards and trying to manage tokens, but on ones like cardano, thre are choices to choose from, MAIN, BNB Beacon chain, Bep2 BNB smart chain, or Bep20, How do I know which one to choose?

    • @CryptoDad
      @CryptoDad  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lots of tokens can be managed on different chains. If you're not sure, it would probably be best to use the main chain. So no matter how you set your wallet up, it's always a good idea to do a small test transaction first before sending large amounts. You'll pay a little extra in transfer fees, but it'll be worth the peace of mind.

    I understand, but does the fees come from the crypto you are transferring? ie: you transfer ONDO to the Tangem wallet, do they charge you a number of ONDO or must you have some Etherium or Bitcoin to pay the fee?

    • @CryptoDad
      @CryptoDad  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you are withdrawing from an exchange, they will take it out of your ONDO (ERC20 token) balance. The exchange calls it a withdrawal fee, but they are basically passing along the blockchain fees that they are paying to you.
      If you are transferring ONDO from your own wallet, the fees are taken out of your Ethereum balance as gas fees.

    New subscriber here. Just got my tangem wallet and will be setting it up. My question is, do I also need an exchange like Coinbase? Or can I bypass any exchange and do everything from Tangem? So if I have Tangem why would I need a coinbase account or any other? Also, how often do you back up the cards?

    • @CryptoDad
      @CryptoDad  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This really depends on your individual needs. I personally have several exchange accounts. They really don't cost you anything to maintain. And they generally give you better trading fees and transfer fees. However, you could simply rely on the Tangem card for all of your swaps. However, you are using third part services under the hood. So you are in effect using an exchange. I haven't done the math, but my guess is in the long run it would be cheaper to use a centralized exchange like Coinbase or Kraken. You would just have to learn how to do trades and transfers back and forth between your wallet. But that's entirely up to you.

    How did your transfer fee in ethereum network cost that low? I did my transfer on binance or bybit but it cost me around 6UDST as a transfer fee

    What about fees on erc20? Every time I swap an erc20 token it will give me a fee sometimes higher than other times. But on tangem I didn't see any fees.

    Is it possible to use one of three cards to use as a separate wallet, so I can use that card for connecting airdrops etc which will only have a small amount of crypto?

    • @CryptoDad
      @CryptoDad  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's possible, but not really recommended. When you initialize the first card, the setup process is going to oblige you to create your other two backup cards. (if you have a 3 card set) This is how the card sets were intended to be used. It is possible to factory reset one of your backup cards, then from there attempt to set it up as new or do a restore. But this is a little bit tricky. The cards were really intended to be used as a set. So if you need more than one wallet, then perhaps you could spring for a 2 card set, which isn't really that expensive. Tangem wants the cards to be safe and easy to use, so they don't really recommend trying to split up card sets to be used as standalone wallets. They don't want a user to screw up this process and end up losing their crypto.
