    Great to see this workaround. I love PromptSmart too, and I'm running an M2 Mac-so the iPad version of promptsmart runs fine. I simply set the prompter to secondary display, drag the promptsmart window over, and it works just like on my iPad/iPhone. System mic works fine for voice tracking.

      Well fine but the text is super large since it's scaled for the iPad screen and the Mac is higher resolution.

      Have you tried adjusting the PromptSmart font setting? Mine is at 7, but it looks like it can drop all the way down to 1.
      From what I can tell, the 1 size font is about half the size of 7. At least, that what it seems to my very unscientific eyeball test.

    Thanks fort the reflector recommendation!
    I currently use a capture card and OBS to share my phone and iPad for live demos and in a pinch, if I need to show something off in a teams call, I'm not always set up to do that and end up using the native airplay and lose visibility of all my screens and audience, this is definitely gonna help!

      Nice! I really like Reflector. It doesn't help so much when you try to share video content, like a slideshow or a video, but aside from that, I think it's great.
      As far as Teams meetings go, if you sign into Teams with the same Microsoft account on multiple devices, then when you enter a meeting or call on one, you can add the other. Typically, I connect to a Teams meeting with my computer, either PC or Mac, then I open Teams on my iPhone. The mobile app detects that I'm in a meeting and shows a button at the top of the screen to allow me to join it from this new device. When I do, it allows me to transfer the meeting or call to this device OR to add the device, which is what I do.
      Once you add a second device to the Teams call, you can share your screen, camera, or video that your phone sees. This is how I share my phone on Teams meetings and calls.
      Try it out and let me know if it works for you.

      @@HeyIvan initially it worked out just fine and what I needed however I don’t know if it was a couple weird bugs but it kept disappearing after a while of use, I can’t remember if it happened after I purchased though. But then the prompter also doesn’t consistently come on properly all the time which is something elgato needs to address

      @HeyIvan  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@coreysingletary8211 There are two apps that need to run on the Mac for the Elgato to come on consistently, at least in my experience:
      1) The first is DisplayLink Manager, which from what I can tell is some sort of helper app. You can find it with a Spotlight search.
      2) The second is the Elgato Camera Hub.
      Aside from that, you need to have your camera connected to the Mac and the USB-3 or Thunderbolt cable connected from the Mac to the Prompter.

    Hey Ivan! That was a very clear and great explanation. I noticed your old Glide Gear prompter in the vid - I'm actually torn right now between getting the Glide Gear tmp100 with 10.2" iPad or the Elgato for talking head language education type content (using my phone to film). Which would you choose for that sort of thing? Many thanks!

    • @HeyIvan
      @HeyIvan  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'm so glad it was clear.
      The Glide Gear served me well, however I started looking again because the hood attaches to the metal frame with velcro. The metal frame has a strip of velcro that is hot glued to it. After about a year, the velcro strip began to separate from the glue. I had to be super careful about not pulling too hard or fast otherwise the strip might detach and render the whole thing useless. That's why I started looking for something else.
      The Elgato Prompter is not designed to be portable. I keep it in the box it came in. It doesn't fold down flat. So, that's a bummer. Aside from that, though, I'm happy with it.
      I was already in the market for an external monitor and the cost of the Elgato was basically a teleprompter with the equivalent of a monitor thrown in for free. At least, that's how I'm thinking about it.

    This is exactly what I wanted to know - thank you! Also, do you need the reflector app? Can't you just use AirPlay mirroring off of the iPad to the Mac?

    • @HeyIvan
      @HeyIvan  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You need reflector to make the Mac an AirPlay destination.

      @@HeyIvan Really? I can airplay mirror from my iPad and iPhone to my Mac right now without that app. Maybe it's a new feature?

    • @HeyIvan
      @HeyIvan  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Perhaps. I think you can with a cable, but I’m not sure about wirelessly.
      Tell me how you have it set up.

    Can you use an Iphone to shoot and a Ipad as the teleprompter? Thanks for your video

      The Elgato promoter requires a computer. I’d recommend something else instead.

    I'm confused about how you are using an iPad with the Prompter. I didn't see anything in your video showing that you can connect the iPad with the Elgato Prompter. How do you "use the Elgato Prompter with an iPad"?

    • @HeyIvan
      @HeyIvan  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’m using the Reflector app on my Mac to allow me to share my iPad screen to my Mac using AirPlay.
      The El Gato prompter is physically connected to my Mac. It displays what Reflector is mirroring from the iPad. So, I guess I’m using the Prompter, my Mac, and an iPad with AirPlay.
      Thanks for the comment!

    So you need a laptop with the elgato? For normal cheaper teleprompters all you need is an ipad.

    • @HeyIvan
      @HeyIvan  หลายเดือนก่อน

      You’re right. You do for El gato. There are other cheaper option out there. I just wanted one with a portable screen.
      I already had a laptop, so that wasn’t a problem for me. Although, everyone is in a different situation.
