The Intro Video box has disappeared from my screen. How can I get it back?
Are you talking about the "Drop Video Intro" box that appears to the left of the DVD menu when you choose your DVD template? I have been unable to remove it. Might it be possible that you clicked "Switch to Classic?" If so, then you should see a button for "Switch to Updated." When you click that, you'll be put back into the view I show in my video.
Hi and thank you so much for taking the time to reply. I did in fact hit the Switch to Classic button. However switching back doesn't solve the issue. This is Not a serious problem for me. I don't plan to use this particular function very often. It's more a curiosity. I had it, did something stupid and now it's gone. Strange !
Good review. I’ll try Wondershare. I happily used ‘Toast’ for 12 year to burn DVD’s & Blu-ray but even the latest version would not run on my new MacBook Air with the M2 chip. Roxio claimed it was compatible but quickly refunded my payment. Also, as you say it was asking permissions that I was not happy with.
Can the chapter markers that I created in FCPX be brought over to Toast? 😊
It's been my experience that chapter markers in your videos, like those created in Final Cut Pro X will be preserved when you add the video to a Toast DVD project.
please make a video to show how to purchase music using apples music app
Here are 2 videos that I think cover what you're looking to do. Let me know and I can make one that answers the exact question you have. 1. How to Purchase and Use iTunes Music in a Mac Photos Slideshow -- th-cam.com/video/rSr-M10d-rQ/w-d-xo.html 2. How to Avoid Unsupported Audio (Music) in Photos for Mac Slideshows -- th-cam.com/video/GjPptH5Hnpk/w-d-xo.html
Hi Ivan. Just discovered your helpful channel. I would like to create DVDs that have traditional buttons. The same kind that commercial DVDs have had for 30 years. What this means is, a button that says “Play Movie” and another that says “Chapter Menu.” Is there a way to do this? I have tried using two copies of the movie, one with chapters and one without. This is almost there. However, if someone selects to play the movie, there are no chapter breaks, therefore, the chapter buttons on the DVD player remote do not work. It seems very odd that this simple capability would be omitted, especially when it was part of iDVD, Adobe Premier elements, and other software products back from when people were more interested in creating media.
At this point, I say you check out Burn, which is a free and open source app. I'm not all in on Toast. There are a few shortcomings that lead me to rethink the app I should use for making DVDs. This video shows Burn: th-cam.com/video/rQZww61OolE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=XNfXRok-xuvYS1o-
So you need a laptop with the elgato? For normal cheaper teleprompters all you need is an ipad.
You’re right. You do for El gato. There are other cheaper option out there. I just wanted one with a portable screen. I already had a laptop, so that wasn’t a problem for me. Although, everyone is in a different situation.
Does Roxio toast 20 pro have a dark mode feature?
Roxio Toast 20 looked like it would have a dark mode, however Pro is a collection of apps, rather than a pro version of what Titanium is. I'm disappointed.
Ivan, great video. I used to use Toast about 15-20 years ago and haven't had a need for it since then, but I was asked to create a Blu-ray and DVD masters for a friend's movie, so I bought Toast 20 Pro. I have to tell you, I'm very frustrated. All I want to do is create a custom menu, which I'm pretty sure I did correctly, and then create chapter markers in the video, which I did correctly. Now, when I preview the video, the name of the video does not appear on the main menu page, and when I click on the small box that "previews" the video, it jumps to the chapters page and doesn't play the video. I'm about ready to use a pre-made menu even though I don't want to, but I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Also, when I create a custom menu, I can't create 5 rows or 5 columns...the "5" is greyed out. Is it just me? Again, very helpful videos!
I totally understand. I just bought Pro to see how it stacks up against Titanium and I am a bit underwhelmed. I'll give it a few days, but I'll probably return it. I'll keep looking for a better alternative.
This is not a walkthrough, it's a race through. You could slow down a bit and it would be a lot more easy to follow. Instead we have to pause and rewind several times. Otherwise, don't call it a tutorial.
Thank you for that feedback. You’re not the first to tell me that. I’ll be taking a slower approach in future videos to ensure that I cover the topics clearly, even for folks who aren’t super technology oriented. Thank you for taking the time to drop a comment!
Thank you ❤ this is really perfect need to make some music DVD 5.1 mix stuff❤
Your video is super helpful! I actually just purchased a bluray burner and needing to get toast 20 pro, so I was curious if pro is pretty much the same layout as titanium?
Glad it's helpful. You know, I had Toast Titanium, but not Pro. I just bought it to see how they compare and it looks totally different. It's like Toast 20 Pro is a collection of apps and not a sort of all-in-one app like Titanium. I'll give it a few days, but if it's all I see here, I'll probably return it.
The other thing that would be helpful is to teach us how to edit (Change the order of the pictures) It seems like it puts them in the order that you select them and if you decide later that you want one particular photo/video to be the first, you can't do it without deleting the whole memory and starting over
You can impose order after the fact, or if you make an Album in Photos, the order you specify there get's respected when you create the slideshow.
Ivan, this is fantastic... I was trying to make a picture and video collage for a friend's birthday and this helped... I even discovered how you change the song... You can even choose a song off of your iTunes downloads (How cool is that?) I can download Paul McCartneys Happy birthday song instead of the lame music choices.. If I were to upload on social media or youtube, would I get in trouble?
Yes, probably. On TH-cam it might be a copyright claim or takedown. On somewhere like Facebook, the audio might become muted. I touch on this a bit in this video: th-cam.com/video/BAj-vk0xnBo/w-d-xo.html&si=K48ee-Law1xb3bcx
Hey Ivan, Me again! I made a slideshow, it’s perfect with music etc. And I need to play it at a friends house this weekend. I tried putting it on a usb, and tried hooking the USB to my Apple TV, but nothing is working. Do you have a video on how I can export it off my Mac on to something else to show at my friends house? I have an iPhone, iPad and Apple TV.
If you have an Apple TV and your Mac is on the same Wi-Fi, you should be able to use AirPlay to play it on the TV, no dongle needed. Otherwise, if your Mac doesn't have one of those USB to HDMI dongles, you could use one of those and an HDMI cable to the television to play that way. Otherwise, you can export the show to a movie file. The only downside with this is that it will reduce the picture quality in the exported file. Here's were I talk about how to Export a Show: th-cam.com/video/BAj-vk0xnBo/w-d-xo.html&si=M8Ufj_UNM32_vdmn Mac How to AirPlay to Apple TV: support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/stream-content-to-apple-tv-mh40624/mac
Hey Ivan, never mind, I rewatched your video and removed my downloads and repurchased (maybe) and it works!
Awesome!!
Don’t worry. You didn’t purchase a second time. Apple remembers which items you’ve purchased. It should allow for redownloading without extra cost.
hey Ivan, even when I purchase a song in iTunes it is not showing up when I try to add it to my slideshow???
I sometimes have to close Photos after I purchase a track in Apple Music. Once I do that and open Photos again, then it will show.
Great Video… thanks, just I needed!
Hey Ivan, this video was very helpful. However, what if I need to use it for a graduation party. How can I send this to the person it was made for?
The file will be too big to email, but you could send a link to it via Google drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, or iCloud Drive. There are other ways, too, but those are the most popular option that people tend to use nowadays
Hey Ivan! Hope all is well! Would these steps work for BluRay as well? Are there any key differences, applications, processes, export settings, etc. I need to know? Thanks!
That's. very good question. I haven't tested the Blue-ray features of Toast. I need to buy a drive and experiment.
@@HeyIvan No worries! It would be helpful to know how/if the other software works too. If you figure anything out, let me know. :-) Thanks for your reply!
@LoganPlooster Will do!
very helpful video - can you please tell me how to rotate a photo? When I double click on a photo and then rotate it and hit done it doesn't save the rotation. What am I doing wrong?
After some experimentation, it seems like rotating the picture in the Library is the easiest way to rotate an image. On the Mac, I control-click or right-click an image and choose to rotate. Then, when you next look at the slideshow, you'll see the image has been rotated. If you have iCloud Photo Library turned on, you could do the rotation on your iPhone or iPad and it will sync back to the Mac.
This is great - so much better than my old app.
I recorded a slideshow per this video. Worked great but when I show the video the words, “done,” “Slideshow” and the pause icon show all the way through the video. How do I record a slideshow without showing those words?
You can crop the screen recording. And one tap can toggle the display of the playback controls at the begging of video playback. Let me know if this is confusing.
Thank you! Very helpful video and reply.
I’m glad it helped.
Thank you. 😊
Hey Ivan, I have created the slideshow and chose a custom length (2:55). When I export it to a flash drive the length changes to over 4 minutes. What is going on? Thanks, Sue
That's weird. Can you try creating a new slideshow and see if that fixes the issue. I once had a problem where I had to create a small separate Library because my project Library was being picky. The other thing I think is that maybe the Theme you're choosing is playing a video or two back in its entirety, which can go against the custom timing. Does your project include any videos?
You wouldn't happen to know how to change a text buttons color when pressed would you? I have a black background that blends in with the button once clicked.
There doesn’t appear to be a way to change the color, unfortunately.
@@HeyIvan So bizarre, since the premade templates all have different colors.
@user-yt4ei6ef6g let me take another look to be sure I’m right.
I gave in and changed the background to a lighter color. But now the text looks low res after export, is that normal?
@user-yt4ei6ef6g dvd-video format is 480p, so low resolution for sure.
tysm! was confused
Is it possible to delete the album title from the slideshow?
Yes. You can click the T in the filmstrip at the bottom. Then press delete.
Can you use an Iphone to shoot and a Ipad as the teleprompter? Thanks for your video
The Elgato promoter requires a computer. I’d recommend something else instead.
🙏🏻
🙏🏻
This is exactly what I wanted to know - thank you! Also, do you need the reflector app? Can't you just use AirPlay mirroring off of the iPad to the Mac?
You need reflector to make the Mac an AirPlay destination.
@@HeyIvan Really? I can airplay mirror from my iPad and iPhone to my Mac right now without that app. Maybe it's a new feature?
Perhaps. I think you can with a cable, but I’m not sure about wirelessly. Tell me how you have it set up.
OMG THIS SAVES MY LIFE. THANKSSSSS SO VERY MUCH!!
I watched this video but I still have a question. I don’t have a computer to do the transfer, can I transfer directly to my iPhone?
Not with this method. There are tools that claim to do it without a computer, but I haven’t tried them yet. a.co/d/hoZ9lQG
Hi Ivan..I've created an iPhoto Slideshow on my MacBook with over 300 pictures with a combination of RAW and .jpg files. Should I have converted the RAW files to .jpg before creating a slideshow to then be exported to an .m4V movie file?
I don't think you need to convert them. However, you'll notice that the final slideshow is compressed quite a bit. So, the quality won't be as good as your original files.
@@HeyIvan I just exported it and the file's now about 5gb...able to play on Quick Time Player and it looks like I s/b able to share the .m4V movie file from here..thanks for the tutorial and your feedback!
Great!
curious if there is a limit as to how many "chapters" or selections each menu can contain?
The theme you choose will constrain how many chapters appear on screen, but you can have more than one screen of chapters. For example, if your chapter menu has room for 6 thumbnails, then if you had 11 chapters, the first page would have 5 thumbnails. The last position will be a link to the next chapter page that will have 6 thumbnails.
Wow!! New Mac user here and this is super helpful!!!
Glad it was helpful! Let me know if you have any other Mac questions. :)
how to shuffle the photo in slideshow? or any free apps?
Unfortunately, no way to shuffle the images. Each slideshow is a collection of images in the order you set. The only hint I see is about using the Mac's screensaver feature to generate a random order. I don't know of an app, but I'm looking into it.
Ivan, I think I figured it out. When I export to an external drive, it shows in a small screen the pictures plus video in slow motion being copied but stops short of the entire slide show. It states still coping but I didn't see any more pictures or video being copied. Previously I would hit cancel and that was that, this last time I left the computer on and did not cancel, after about 20 or so more minutes it eventually completed. So it was copying in the background but wasn't obvious to me. Again Thanks for your quick response, Hopefully this provides you with some additional knowledge. Thanks Tony G
I know what you mean. Sometimes things take a long, long time on macOS, but rarely do things freeze all the way. Glad it worked!
I appreciate the work arounds for different things that apple just decides we don’t need . Like using screen recording so I can make a slide show and share with friends .
the best explanation i’ve ever seen, truly, thank you so much
Nice video, thanks!
I'm putting together a slide show with photo's and video using Quick Time. Total duration is 1hr 15 min. I'm trying to export this slideshow to a thumb drive and or external drive. The export works fine for about 15-16 min, then it shows it at the end and no further slides or video are exported?? How can I get the EXPORT to export the entire slideshow? Thanks Tony
I had no idea you could do this. I'll have to try it out to see how it works. Your question makes me think of searching to see whether QuickTime has a file size limit. I found an article that seems to indicate that 4 GB is the largest. I don't know if it's true. Will have to experiment. It seems like the answer is more complicated than I first thought. discussions.apple.com/thread/8412605?sortBy=best You might want to experiment with different frame sizes. Perhaps the file size is big because you're using full quality images to produce a 4K or similar result. The Photos app reduces quality to 1080p to sidestep file size issues. I'll have to try this out -- Apple Article for creating a movie with an image sequence. support.apple.com/guide/quicktime-player/create-a-movie-with-an-image-sequence-qtp315cce984/mac
@@HeyIvan Thanks for looking into this. Let me know what you find. I've tried exporting the slideshow in 480 and 720 resolution neither complete the export. Total file size is ~ 2GB. Tony
Weird. Have you tried using keynote? It should let you do what you’re after, I think. Both 720 and 480 will look blurry because of how much the quality will be reduced.
Oh. You should also take a look at iMovie. It’s a different way of thinking, but it should be able to produce superior results compared to QuickTime.
That's a nice tip. Thank you :)
Thanks, Muaad!
