3:10 I really like the comparison to Vincent van Gogh. You probably didn't know this but Gogh didn't become famous in his lifetime, it was his family and friends who supported him while he made paintings as a hobby but he never made much if any money from them. It was only many years after his passing that his work became famous. With Donkey Kong Country, yeah it was big when it was released but there's so many people who enjoy playing the games decades later, whether it's people who skipped these games or even younger generations too, it's a timeless classic.

This game is an absolute classic. Most people think the second game is even better. I love them both. I wish that rare, or even nintendo were able to bring the fast twitch platforming style to 3D.

This game is great, DKC 2 was excellence and the third was difficult, challenging, different and fun! Loved this series as a kid to the point I have a DK Coin tattoo. So much memories being a 90s kid.

I think a platformer being "slippery" is not indicative of its quality at all, controls being 100% intuitive don't necessarily lead to better gameplay. If a game is consistently slippery, then that's just the way it handles, and adjusting how you play accordingly is part of the fun. You start to have a problem when a game doesn't respect its own rules.
Having said that, the problem you describe in the video is more likely to be the fact that the colission on platforms is a little hard to tell since the game uses a weird perspective in order for the pre-rendered graphics to shine a bit more.
I didn't find the game all that hard in spite of that, but that may just be cuz I'm a Gamer™
    good video, I think you'd enjoy dkc2.
