These Simpson games were the ones I always wanted as a kid but never could afford to buy, after watching this video I am glad I never did as I would have rage quit .
My dad rented this at least 20 times for me. It took 17 weekends to beat level 1. I tried 3 more times and got to the museum a few times, but my platforming and damage control skills weren't good enough and I gave up after half a years worth of weekends indoors. Lol good times!
As a kid, I got pretty good at beating level 1. That said, after watching this video I realized that I did actually manage to beat level 2 at least once. However, level 3 was where I gave up. Probably from pure frustration.
I managed it. Only took a few days of trying. I was live streaming so some people did tell me a few tips like shooting the E in Kwik-E-mart but for the most part I had to manage it alone. Mostly its just the outrageous platforming omg! to see him use platforms in avoid some of the most horrendous bits like in stage 2 over the cement is disheartening to say the least :D. This is so much nostalgia! This game is so hard for me and my friend that when I finally finished it when he wasn't around he didn't believe me and I had to finish it again in front of him 😂
Apparently I’m not the only one who had the experience of beating it and not being believed. Thankfully I was able to convince my friend after describing the ending in detail.
So Bart collects radioactive uranium isotope rods with his bare hands without dying, but he has a hard time dealing with freshly laid concrete? Good stuff!
Ummmmm., bartman can pick them up. That's not bart at all... two wayyyyy different people bro... That's like putting Clark Kent against superman, or... idk, Bruce Wayne vs batman. There's just no comparison between the two.
Remember this game fondly from decades ago! Thank you for such a comprehensive runthrough. LOADS of secrets I never knew about. Three questions if I may: - 1) I vaguely remember one of the 45% discount shops holding a secret - you hold up for 5 secs in a doorway. Think it's like the bin where there's hats inside. Have I remembered correctly or did I dream this? 2) What happens when you jump off the diving board into the water on the hour? 3) Is there a way to spawn Marge at the elevators? Vaguely remember something, but can't remember.
Man, you not only are killin it at these games, but you make it look easy AND teach it easily. Keep up the great work we'll all keep watching! Thanks for the entertainment!

What 12 year old would know to jump on garbage cans x amount of times or 90% of the other stuff in this game. Thank you for the video because it's the only time I've ever seen anything beyond Level 1
The museum was the furthest I ever got in the game. I died on the cock heads across the pond. I only ever did that one once sadly. I used to lose a lot of lives on the shopping mall and I almost always lost on it Krusty Land with the bag pipes and such.
I never made it past the museum either. I would die pretty early on so much of that level I had never seen before. I always wondered how to get the items from the enclosed cases too.
@@UCanBeatVideoGames same thing i would always get stuck at the first platforming section. bart vs the world was much easier i think i ended up beating it the first time i rented it.

If you want to revisit this game, there are a lot of easter eggs hidden by the developers. 1 on stage 1 (Jump where the grass meets the sky to the right of the bush, push down shown at @8:44), several on stage 2 (several complicated trash cans, remove boot boss's hat with X-Ray specs on, lots of references to "Henry Wills" who probably made the level), several on stage 3 (codes/sequences to input at the games), and 1 on stage 4 (jump max height 6 times on the first dino spine @35:24). You can find all the info on the TCRF article on this game.
I was playing this last week on my original NES and forgot how damn hard this game is. 😂 Thanks for the video…brought back memories of me beating it back in 1991 as a kid.
This is hands down thee most cryptic game ever how I the hell could anyone figure this out? This has been my new favorite channel thank you so much for all of the walk throughs. I hope your channel grows through the roof. I wish you streamed live.
Newer played this one but my parents got me the sequel “vs the world” and man was it hard for an eight years old boy. Hopefully you’ll get to the sequel someday Either was, great video as always 👍
I owned both "vs the World" had a couple super tedious levels especially the North Pole stages. Both had some difficult platforming. The Hollywood area at the end had some hard levels too.
I played the crap out of this back in '91. Only ever made it to the Museum. Wish U Can Beat Video Games had been around. I had no idea there were so many extra lives to be had. Thanks for the great vid!
2:08: I know what you are thinking, and YES, that guy starring in "They Live" IS none other then late pro wrestling legend, and icon of trash talking and ass kicking, "Rowdy" Roddy Piper!
I recognize many of these games from my youth and in general I have no interest in going back to beat them. That said, I find your combination of brief history/context at the beginning of your videos along with a casual commentary playthrough to be very nice to watch. Its interesting to learn about the history of these games and I like that you don't care if you get hit or make a mistake as you play. Very chill channel.
Back in the day, video game magazines would have strategy guides for games like this. You just had to buy it or borrow it from someone who had it. I bought and still have a bunch of video game magazine treasury-type books with a guide for this, TMNT 2, Castlevania 3, etc
This was one of those okay games that could have been great. Controls was 1 limiting factor. The second is the lack of information. The first few times I played this game I had zero clue what I needed to do. You can also tell where the creativity was dialed back in order to finish a game. The first level you are buying different items to remove purple in several different ways. From cheery bombs, to rockets to scare off birds. Covering items with towels and many more ways to clear goals. Level 2 is collect hats. Level 3 is collect balloons. Level 4 is Exit signs. Level 5 is radioactive rods. Most of the secrets are fairly obscure. Why would anyone jump on a single garbage can more than 30 times? It's not a bad game, but the frustrating platforming cancels out any fun you may have had.
I finally beat this game! This was #8 for me using your guides. Thanks for all the help, I had everything down really good, but struggled with the dinosaur. Once I figured out that I could wait on his head until he fired, jump down and jump back up it was easier. Thanks for the tremendous guide! Might try Faxanadu next, never really played it but looks interesting!
Run to the right, use a super jump but not a regular jump to hit the 2nd of 8 cans into the 6th dog you see, then hit the 3rd ledge on the 4th building to activate a sequence of events that allows you to jump 14 times on a can which gives you coins that you'll need to buy exactly 7 of one item to use on the 1st alien in the second stage. Before time runs out. I literally just watched you do that at 39 years old.... And I was supposed to figure this out on my own when I was 8?
I am so glad I found this channel. I really appreciate the intros that give a bit of history. Content allows me to see the games I love to completion better than a speed runner or Let's Play....subscribed!
This seems like one of those games that if you didn't know how to get the extra hidden lives and coins, or a walkthrough to tell you what to do on level 1... you'd never beat it
Trial and error. I eventually managed to complete this one years ago, but others I struggled with. I think it was dependent on what games you owned and could invest the most time into. Or traded with friends for.
I owned this game and played it relentlessly for years. On a good day the farthest I could get was the carnival. This one’s up there with Battletoads for difficulty! Another great upload.
I owned this game, mastered the first level, but it seemed like after that the levels were just super hard platforming. Not like the first level at all.
I beat this when it launched but I was stuck on the final level for hours. My first and only time, I called the nintendo counselors and they did t know what to do. I could hear him flipping pages in a book or magazine. I never thought Maggie would have the final rod
they were probably like “whoa, uh… no one else ever made it this far before. uhh hang on…” either that or they were told “this costs $3.99 a minute, so keep them on the line for a while before you give them any answers” lol
Can't believe how easy you made beating this game look. I struggled so much with it as a kid and I doubt I could do it now. But when you figure out that you have to use Maggie's dummy as the last cooling rod to complete the game, you felt like a genius.
So much about this game I didn't know when I was young. I'm a little surprised you didn't show off the level 5 game over. It is different from the other levels and reveals the weapon the mutants were building. Of course, losing all those lives would double your video length!
Oh yeah, and I think he used the real deal and not emulation, nor Everdrive N8 to take that luxury, I can't remember if that alt. Game Over screen is in the Sega Genesis/Megadrive port of the game. And while not in the current game topic (but still in the Simpsons NES games)... here in TH-cam for the Bartman game I can only see the stage 1 Game Over lines from Radioactive Man, and each stage he has different lines (including if you fail the final boss fight... which you have to pretty much do it on purpose because it's so lame and easy to deal with).
I completely forgot about this game. This was another one that drove me nuts as a kid, especially the controls. Your videos keep getting better and better, I’m completely hooked. Also, I know I said I’d stop making requests, but after watching your channel, I keep thinking of new ones - I’d also love to get your take on Bayou Billy. To this day, that’s one of the only NES games I owned that I still haven’t beaten. That aside, another awesome video. Keep up the great work!
This game used to scare me as a kid! The aliens peaking from behind the TV were so creepy! And the odd sounds from the theme song didn't help either! Never got past the 1st level, so thanks for uploading this! SUBSCRIBED!
@@burntyper Okay guy just because someone was a kid during the Nintendo classic days doesn't mean you know the tips and tricks to these games. I was part of that gaming era myself.
I used to rent this game as a kid and my love of The Simpsons at the time tricked me into thinking this was a great game :D I tried so hard but only made it to the final level once in all my attempts as I usually ran out of lives on that gruelling Museum level. After playing it over and over I became pretty good at jumping over the cement sections in Level 2 but even then it was skating on a fine edge. Now, learning about that jump-3-times trick, I wish I knew about that all those years ago. Thanks for another great video. I was amazed at the secrets - I had no idea some existed even after all these years.
This game made me glad for video rental stores back in the day. I remember seeing this in Game Pro or some other magazine and was so excited to rent it when I saw it in the store. Then when I finally played it...I was like WTH? The controls felt so broken and no instruction manual was available with the rental so I eventually gave up at level 2 and never bothered to try this game again until much later in life...and still didn't get very far. Thanks so much for posting this. Now this game finally makes sense to me!
It took me around 15 hears to finally beat this game 😂... Still have my original copy from when i was a kid, and bought it new. Finally beat it a few years ago... Great video!
Ugh this game... so glad i rented it lol. Still... when you grew up as poor as i did it wasn't often your mom would rent you a "tape". She used to call them tapes lol. "it's a cartridge ma" "yeah whatever enjoy your tape"
"Ugh, will you get that damn thing outta my face and quit filming me!" "I'm not filming, Ma. I'm shooting video." "Well whatever. Just don't show your friends any of these films."
I got this game when I was 5yr old. The TV we had the nintendo hooked up to was only black and white. It was several years before anybody in my house ever figured out how to beat that first level, not being able to tell what was purple and what wasn't. Eventually I made it to the dinosaur in the museum level. I never figured out how to beat him. Glad to see I wasn't too far off from the end of the game.
I never thought I would live to see the day someone makes this game make sense, and look easy to boot. What a time to be alive.

Hopefully you’ll get to the sequel someday
Either was, great video as always 👍
OMG it totally is!
'I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick a**... and I'm all out of bubblegum.'
and the guy he fights with in the alley does the voice of the president on rick and morty
@@UCanBeatVideoGames Don't forget Keith "Captain Anderson" David is also in "They Live!"
@@endykun Funny he sounded and looked more like Julius from Saints Row.
The most random game I've ever seen. How is anyone supposed to know how to complete any of these levels.
It was impossible as a kid. Especially when renting it without a manual.
Strategy guides were big sellers back then. You actually needed them to know how to beat certain games lol.
Back in the day, video game magazines would have strategy guides for games like this. You just had to buy it or borrow it from someone who had it. I bought and still have a bunch of video game magazine treasury-type books with a guide for this, TMNT 2, Castlevania 3, etc
@@youisiaint kids these days don't realize how easy they got it....
@@akaBoG no idea how easy!
This made my Father’s Day weekend!! My favorite channel by far!!
I agree the controls and the no continues made the game too hard. Great job with the channels
I had this game for the NES and I'm pretty sure I never got past level 1
Oh my god, I had this game. So much nostalgia. I remember for a long time I didn't even realize exactly what I was supposed to do in the first level.
I remember spending hours every day in this game. I think the furthest we ever got was level 3. Absolutely LOVE your videos!!
The bad endings if Bart lose we’re hilarious. If you lost on the last level it was two robot Homers as the ultimate destroyer
I just added a sound bar above the TV in my toolbox at work and was enjoying this game. Awesome to see this on recommended
Why is TH-cam recommending this now?
Idk but I missed this one
Run to the right, use a super jump but not a regular jump to hit the 2nd of 8 cans into the 6th dog you see, then hit the 3rd ledge on the 4th building to activate a sequence of events that allows you to jump 14 times on a can which gives you coins that you'll need to buy exactly 7 of one item to use on the 1st alien in the second stage. Before time runs out.
I literally just watched you do that at 39 years old.... And I was supposed to figure this out on my own when I was 8?
I was about to request this game.
Like: Roger Rabit and Cool World.
@Tashiro Sato
Already know that, so??
Do you have thing for humans meeting cartoons
@@haileyshannon7548 hmm no...
This's both super calming, and ultra NES levels of anxiety at the same time. I was cringing in my seat worse than Ninja Gaiden, wowzers.
I remember calling the Nintendo Hotline for help with the Dinosaur boss
I bet they got a lot of calls about that one! "Hey Bill, its another kid about that Dinosaur in the Simpsons"
I thought everyone back in the old days purchased the Nintendo power magazine for hints and tricks and tips
I know the mall is the second level with that hard ass platforming.
This game was hard and quit as a kid
Sounds like I'm listening to Bob Ross while he's gaming, love how your voice is just so calm and relaxed during this frustrating game
I beat this when it launched but I was stuck on the final level for hours. My first and only time, I called the nintendo counselors and they did t know what to do. I could hear him flipping pages in a book or magazine. I never thought Maggie would have the final rod
they were probably like “whoa, uh… no one else ever made it this far before. uhh hang on…”
either that or they were told “this costs $3.99 a minute, so keep them on the line for a while before you give them any answers” lol
What were they flipping through Nintendo power magazine
I don't know how you would know to do all this without a guide back in the day. I always loved my Nintendo Power subscription
You should do a video on Zombies Ate My Neighbors since it's being rereleased on modern consoles!
Can't believe how easy you made beating this game look. I struggled so much with it as a kid and I doubt I could do it now. But when you figure out that you have to use Maggie's dummy as the last cooling rod to complete the game, you felt like a genius.
I remember begging my mom for this game.
It kicked my ass.
I feel that! As a kid I don't think I ever got past the mall!
Kinda curious if you'd ever do Escape From Camp Deadly, or other game boy games
They are fairly easy, though
I completely forgot about this game. This was another one that drove me nuts as a kid, especially the controls.
Your videos keep getting better and better, I’m completely hooked. Also, I know I said I’d stop making requests, but after watching your channel, I keep thinking of new ones - I’d also love to get your take on Bayou Billy. To this day, that’s one of the only NES games I owned that I still haven’t beaten.
That aside, another awesome video. Keep up the great work!
Hardest working dog on youtube is back!
🐕 Thanks!!
GUARDIAN LEGEND. Top tier but still underated. Exactly what will keep this channel growing.
I hated this game as a kid. Expectations were high especially since the Simpsons arcade game was already released
Sad thing is visually and controls-wise there's a solid package there. It just needed way better direction
I’ve been waiting my whole life to finish this game, It’s been a long
Long long long time. Breaking out my NES now!
I think I got to the second level maybe once or twice as a kid... This game was so bad at telling you what to do
This game used to scare me as a kid! The aliens peaking from behind the TV were so creepy! And the odd sounds from the theme song didn't help either! Never got past the 1st level, so thanks for uploading this! SUBSCRIBED!
As Freddy Quimby once said, “I’m going to enjoy this!”
I really love watching the intros to each video you make to learn a quick history of the title you’re playing. Great work thank you
Speaking of "A boy and his blob" I'd love for someone to explain to me how TF to play that game lol
ive seen both a walkthru and a speed run of that game and i still cant figure it out lol
Its definitely on my list!
@@UCanBeatVideoGames other 2 ninja gaiden games and Fester's Quest also!
This reminds me of those "Game Tips & Tricks" books from my childhood. I love this channel
How do you know all this stuff with all these games?
He lived the nes era. Plus faqs
Magic
If you play a game many, many, many times, you're bound to find every finite detail it has.
@@burntyper Okay guy just because someone was a kid during the Nintendo classic days doesn't mean you know the tips and tricks to these games. I was part of that gaming era myself.
Nintendo Power or any video game magazine from the early 90s probably had entire sections devoted to this game
Had no idea this game so many small and obscure secrets to find. Interesting stuff.
Should definitely make my next playthrough more enjoyable
Me realizing that even though we played this game for hours and hours as kids, we never made it past the first stage..
I used to rent this game as a kid and my love of The Simpsons at the time tricked me into thinking this was a great game :D
I tried so hard but only made it to the final level once in all my attempts as I usually ran out of lives on that gruelling Museum level.
Thanks, Christopher! That museum level is crazy hard!
New fan and man I wish we had this channel when I was a kid, so many classics I can't wait for you to play
Looks like I know what game #8 is now! Always wanted to beat this but never had the strategies required. Thanks again!
You got this, John! I'm sure you can beat this one based on what else you've completed!
@@UCanBeatVideoGames Thanks for the positive energy, you made it look easy :) I will get it, just not as gracefully I'm sure!
This game is still tough! You make it looks easy, but man it takes a steady hand and some serious nerves to beat this one! KUDOS BRO!
"it's a cartridge ma"
"yeah whatever enjoy your tape"
"Ugh, will you get that damn thing outta my face and quit filming me!"
"I'm not filming, Ma. I'm shooting video."
"Well whatever.
