      Doesn't matter. Pretty simple, as often as you can, go to a pool hall/bar. You tube pool drills and try them out. Pick one that seems okay to handle, and go for it for as long as you can. If you're headed to a pool hall with friends, go earlier (30min - Not too long so to drain yourself out) and try a few drills. Focus on one set of drills until you can master it continuously, then look for harder drills. Take your time, and most importantly, be confident of your shot. If you're not confident, wake up off the table and evaluate again

      Lol! I don’t think I could have figured this out had she not pointed to her watch a couple times!! Lol.
      This “aiming” technique is useless ones ya start spinning the cue ball. As the cue ball transfers spin to the object ball when they hit. Nothing replaces 10,000 hours of practice. Im not quite there. But close to 5,000 hours so far. So who am I? Im only half way to be a pro. Lol.

      A suggestion to help you get better, with consistency, would be to find drills and practice those drills till you get them right every time. not sure if Venom has posted any drill videos, sure he will soon, if not, look around you tube. Just look for the set up of the drills and factor Venoms methods into getting the balls in. Another simple way (for me) is I've learnt to draw an imaginary line from cue ball to object to pocket. (Through using a similar method as shown in this video) Now the line comes almost naturally for me, when i look at my shot.
      One last thing, don't try to learn from too many people. If Venom is doing justice to your game, keep his tactics. Watching videos of the same thing, in 10 different ways is going to confuse you and frustrate you

    1 advice for the cue ball control (optional not all pool felt's are similar), use the diamond of the table to know the distance travel by the cue ball with low top/back spin, mid top/back spin and high top/back spin.

    @Venom Can you teach different style of backspin shots only with straight shot? I've seen some people apply backspin and their ball goes a little bit forward and then come back completely, for some people it comes back as soon as it hits the target ball and some it has a stop where it contacted then comes back.
    I am an amateur and I have only these 3 cases in my mind. I could find anything on youtube about this topic...

    Hey Florian, big fan. I believe you have a slight mistake in your demonstration of "throw" at 6:55. You do, of course, describe SIT (spin-induced throw) perfectly, but when you actually perform the shot, the reason you miss is because of squirt, not throw. If throw had been a factor and not squirt, imparting your left-hand English on the ball would have resulted in the ball missing to the right, not the left.
    If you watch the shot frame by frame, you can see that your aim is true, but the cueball squirts to your right about a quarter inch, causing the object ball to miss the pocket to the left. In the "corrected" shot this happens too, but because you aimed more to the right, the object ball goes in, cheating the pocket on the left.

    Talk about eyecandy only.... IMO it's better if Kohler explain stuffs, maybe give an example or two, then have the woman do/repeat it, while Kohler keep giving instructions. That would make:
    - her existence not limited as an eyecandy only
    - the video looks more like a coaching clinic, with a tutor and a disciple. That way a lot more viewers would relate
    - viewers happy and more attracted. Coz who doesn't like to see a pretty woman shooting pool, right? :)
    But that's just my opinion tho.....

    The "Ghost Ball" technique is fine when practicing but during a match you are not going to be able to stick a ball in front of the ball you are hitting to line up a shot. So that's why I find what I call the cue technique better for learning where to aim. Just like he was lining up the ghost ball, he would put his cue stick in the pocket he was aiming at, then you create an imaginary line back to your object ball.
    Or try this, with your cue in hand, point your cue at the spot on your object ball right where you would have to hit that ball to get it to go into the pocket. Now go back to your cue ball (white ball)and aim it at that point on your object ball. The nice thing about using your stick to line up a shot is that you can do it as many times as you need to to line up your shot and it doesn't interfere with your gameplay. It's a much easier way to aim and become a consistent shot maker. I have always taught my students this way and they tell me it was the best and fastest way to get better at shot making.
    There is something very important that Venom teaches you in this video that may people don't pay attention to and that's spin. Many people will accidentally put spin on the ball when making a shot. As you could see in the video, spin will throw off your shot, especially when your not trying to use spin on the ball. I've seen many people miss shots due to putting accidental spin on the cue. So if you learn nothing else watch the kind of contact you make with the cue ball when making a shot.nn

    • @cassidymohabir9744
      @cassidymohabir9744 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are various factors involving this, I'm still a novice, someone could correct me if I'm wrong. But one of the key factors is the table. The age, usage, type of felt could make a difference. Another is, your cueing action. Dependent on the distance, the further away it is, more power you put, but you follow through the cue till it touches the table. (not too deep into the table so to damage to felt, but just enough so the stroke naturally dies off, instead of you force stopping the cue) the closer the object ball is, the less room you have to stroke, thus you pull the cue back instead. Your cueing action makes a massive difference in my opinion (through personal experience). Professionals make far draws look so easy simply because of their cueing action. It doesn't change the fact that they do put enough power into the shot

  • @sixalphaone
    @sixalphaone 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Where the cue hits the cue ball, is the obvious reason to compensate (7:40), it will simply push the ball to the opposite side. I'll guess the contact spin is below 3% of the reason. The surface contains nearly no friction, so no energi is transported.

      in any given distance at the table the stop shot can be made in different speeds like soft, medium and hard hit, the harder you hit the stop shot the higher you aim at the cueball and vice versa you aim lower when you do soft stop shot. at the object ball contact you are trying to control the moment the backspin ends and before the forward rolling starts, the cue ball is basically not spinning in any direction for that short moment when it hits object ball.
      it is very important to learn how to make the stop shots with any type speed because of stun shots (basically a stop shot with angle) and when you try to cheat pockets with slow shot. When you make stun shot you are trying to keep the cueball in perpendicular line from the line of the object ball and contact point/pocket ie 90degrees, some say it is the most important shot to master in pool, with different ratios of speed and spin you can control the distance the cue ball travels in that tangent line

    Number 1 rule: always ask yourself before taking a shot...."what would Efren do?" 🤔

    Imagine a line that pass through the center of the pocket and the object ball, here observe the point of contact of the line on the edge of the object ball, and imagine another line that will pass through the center of the cue ball which is parallel to the original line and observe the point of contact of the second line and the edge of the cue ball that is the point of contact of the cue ball to the object ball.

    @ 7:45 i think it is more the deflection of the cue ball making the shot miss more than the spin.

      Try to aim slightly higher on the cue ball, follow through smooth more parallel to the table :)

      Idk if you're still struggling, but a drill an one of my older teachers taught me was simple and doable even at home without a pool table. Take any normal size 20 oz plastic soda bottle, and lay it down on a surface you can stance onto. Remove the cap, and bring your tip to rest at the opening of the bottle, like it was the cue ball. Practice stroking into the bottle(sounds hilarious, I know) without hitting the edges of the bottle. Once you've found a shot that feels natural and smooth, note and mark where your tip ends inside the bottle, and attempt to replicate that stroke in your drills.
      This worked wonders for me. Later on, you can even simulate forced stroke length changes by moving your mark. Since that game doesn't always allow you to shoot just the way you'd like. Cheers. :)
