Excellent review. Love the look of the interior and exterior. The new dash and MBUX look fantastic. One question. The doors sounded a little hollow when you slammed them. Mercedes usually sound like a solid thunk when you slam the door. Was this just the audio or was it the same in person? Thanks again for a great video. Keep up the good work.

This shows that Mercedes was really watching Genesis coming for their market share. I think this A class will definitely stave off that brand. Honestly, up until this model, I never would have considered a Benz. Now ... I can't wait to check one out. Might be too small, but we'll be getting the hatch in Canada, so I'm looking forward to that! Great review. I was really hoping you guys would take a look at this one.

Would you say this sits as low to the ground like a Toyota Camry or lower than a Camry . I like this sedan but don’t want to be too low to ground , my Camry is perfect height . I will be doing test drive, thanks for sharing review.

I just purchased a rare a180d manual here in the UK - my only gripe is that the interior door handle impairs your actual legroom and you find your knee hitting against it 🤔

Nice looking car. As a former C300 owner, as of last month I can attest that for that model at least the build quality was great. The CLA250 not so much. The biggest problem with Mercedes, Audi and BMW for that matter is that they option you to death and what starts out as a moderately priced entry level luxuary sedan at 32,000 to 35,000 soon balloons up to almost 50,000 or more with options and I don't mean the most extravagant ones. If you lease with turn-in fine but if you purchase you'll soon find yourself underwater in a few years with your loan balance on the car and the trade-in value. Of course there is also the maintenance service which is pricey. That being said if you can afford it go for the C300 series. It doesn't have the appealing futuristic interior look of the A-Class but it is a great car.
4 years later and now C300 has same or even better interior than A class
I want this car but I’m unsure of it , reliability, how expense would it be to maintain about how many miles till you start experiencing problems the cost which would be pricy bc ofc it’s a Mercedes? Do y’all think a Mercedes GLA would be more reliable?

The AR nav looks just like a need for speed game with the arrows on the street. Or midnight club. So cool.
Likely to cause accidents as people will look at it instead of the road most likely. More nonsense not needed. If it displayed the arrows on the windscreen fine but in the display is useless.

The car really drives very comfortably! I used to own a Lexus gs300 and I thought it’d be cramped inside the A220 but quite the opposite. If feels really good inside. The tech is really awesome. Changes your driving experience. If you’re comfortable with a car that’s not full size, then you’ll love this one.
Can you tell us what your real world gas mileage on the highway is ?
Stephen Strong I’ve honestly been getting 35-36mpg on the highway which is higher than they say! I usually use the adaptive cruise control so that helps a little. I’ve had the car for 3 months now! Love it so much!!

I’m starting to like the new A class more, but I have a few annoyances. The column stalks for the shifter and turn signals look really cheap now, same with the window switches. They lost the metal trim and now they look like cheap plastic. The touchpad is also more distracting and annoying than the old COMAND wheel with touch pad over it. But it’s still a nice car. Hopefully the CLA fixes some of that.
No spare tire = NO Deal. No, it's not about weight (heavier runflats!, sealant, compressor or other junk). It is cutting corners. You can get 2 sets of better normal tires for the same money than those runflats that still won't save you if the sidewall gets damaged or you're more than 50 miles from a dealer. The sealant voids the tire warranty. Even if the tire could have been fixed. Now you to have to buy a new tire or 2 (same w/ driving on a runflat and those are harder to find in stock). You can call someone and wait for hours by the road or in traffic or at night in the middle of nowhere. Risk that your car gets scratched up on a tow truck.. and one can avoid all of that w/ a spare. Don't even care about the $, leave room for it.

*Can't understand why Mercedes not offering the Hatchback Version in the US, far more practical and the norm in Europe. EG Get 2 adult Mountain Bikes in rear without removing wheels. I have had my **_Mercedes (W247) B200CDi 8 Speed AMG Line with Premium Pack_** in the UK, for just over a month now and keep finding out amazing 'cookies' for example "Navigate to Bill Bloggs" and if you have address in contacts list on phone will direct you there, in ECO Mode will 'freewheel' in Neutral when lifting throttle (Gas Pedal) and incredible how far the car will go with 'Kinetic Energy' Did a short trip today of around 5 miles and recorded 1.1 miles coasting. Also "Change the lighting to Blue, "what's the weather tomorrow," where is the nearest Gas Station/Cafe etc, it just goes on and on. Another very useful feature particularly in Winter is when you leave the car, press A/C button and the heater will continue to run keeping the cabin warm from Engine Heat for up to ½ Hour, nice to get back into on a cold day. I believe this will also work in Summer sending cold air in from Heat Exchanger, not tested yet. Shame the exhausts are 'fake' I took part in the design of this (Dortmund December 2016) and stressed the importance I felt, in keeping these real, however it seems overruled - possibly on account of CO² Reductions Lobby. However the lower front air intakes on the AMG Line are genuine and lead toward achieving a class beating drag reduction. **37:50** On Sat-Nav screen in a City, besides the 'Augmented Reality' from front view camera, will show actual buildings, amazing technology utilised to make navigating far easier and stress free. It's a no brainer, you can't go wrong' and if you do has a built in GPS that will correct your route in seconds.*
Wife has a C300.. other than replacing the engine once.. it's been a great car.. 225k and going.. about a year to go and she wants this car..

@@SK-lt1so 2400 bucks.. 1200 for a motor 1200 for install.. other than that we have done nothing.. 225000 miles.. My 2012 Ford F-150 on the other hand is junk !! many problems 😠 and still having them now .. Toyota is the way to go

It’s worth noting that Americans have intersections, but the UK and maybe Europe is plagued by things called ‘roundabouts’. The augmented navigation will be more useful here.
Don’t ever try to use a TomTom to get you through Birmingham.
We have roundabouts in the USA. It's just that we call them traffic circles.

The CLA will be completely redesigned later this year as a 2020. It will have sportier styling and more power but it will be largely the same as this A-Class

*You keep repeating 'entry point' but in fact the model tested is kitted out with I would guess at least $9k of extras for example Augmented Reality Sat Nav, 64 Colour Modes, Electric Adjust Seats, Rear Boot Lift, OK at **39:42** you disclosed some facts : So OK Model Tested and shown $8025 Extra's - thought so not far out.*

I can't help seeing a Corolla every time I look at the rear view.
First off, I know you can't always pick the color of the car you review but I am glad you did not showcase a black interior car.
Everybody and their grandparents showcased such a cliche color for more than 10 years now!
I am sick of black cars and black interior cars. Black gets dirty easily and it doesn't hide dirt because dirt is brown, not black.
And once it's dirty, it looks cheap.
People who like black on their car think it's cool but it only looks cool in the showroom, not in real life with wear and tear as well as dirt.
And it has become so cliche now.
Anyway, I'm glad Mercedes finally made an entry level car worthy of their name.
Their last entry-level car, the CLA, had cheap materials on the inside, the fit and finish was terrible, and the transmission was jerky not to mention the ride quality was very harsh.
I leased that car in 2014 and I can't say enough bad things about it - mine was optioned out to $43k - total lease price for 36 months was more than $17k; yet it was a POS!
The only thing the CLA got going for it was its sleek look.
It's about time Mercedes stop being so greedy and build a proper car even though it's entry level.
They know they better because Tesla Model 3 had outsold Mercedes as well as other luxury brands.
Yeah we agree about black interiors. Except in a few cars, we almost always prefer the light colors. Plus it shows up on camera better to boot!
