    Finally, someone does it right. And using the right width elastic bandage. I believe he's using 6" or 8" wide bandage. A 6" is the smallest you want for a knee, but most people use 3 or 4 inch, why, because it's easier to find and buy. But the wider it is the less chance it will roll or move, therefore less chance of cutting off circulation from movement of the bandage.

      Thank you for this info. I am using a 4" and it does bunch. I will look for the wider wrap today.

      The 6" ones are like 15ft long though :(

    Terrific video. I never used an Ace bandage before, so I followed the exact way Dr. Gonzalez was doing the wrap on the video and it helped my knee a lot. Paid attention to his little tips and cautions to watch out for wrinkles, and to give it a little tug at various points, and went around my knee at the same angles as he was using. By copying what he is doing, I get much better results than I got trying to do the wrap on my own.

    This is so perfect! My knee briefly dislocated before going back in on its own after rolling my ankle and I’ve been walking horribly for the past two days, but after following this video, I’m almost walking normal! A little slow, but it’ll help with the recovery! Thank you so much!

    THANK YOU!! I have had a severe injury to my R knee/leg after walking off a ditch edge and fracturing my L1 Transverse. The leg became weak and I suffered several falls to the knee. I have had a non-stop pain flare for 3 weeks now and have barely been able to walk which is bad because I live alone temporarily. Thank you for teaching me how to properly wrap my knee. Since I've had a DVT/PE it is critical that I do it correctly!

    Thank you so much Dr, this helped me tremendously when I hurt my MCL and needed to wrap my knee correctly with a self- adhering Ace bandage. It's slowly feeling better and I'm able to begin to walk with much less pain and limping. Many thanks!

    Thank you for posting this. I have no idea what I did to my knee but wrapping it is the last resort before paying a huge deductible for E.R. Ice packs & NSAIDS have done nothing. The wrap makes it feel better already.

    Thanks for the video :). I'm almost 3 weeks post-op from an ACL reconstruction. Heading back to work on Monday and want to wrap my knee just so the people around me know that I have a recovering knee and to be gentle/keep their distance! Definitely planning on using an ACE wrap!

    Dr. David M. Gonzalez, sports medicine specialist with The San Antonio Orthopaedic Group, demonstrates how to apply an elastic bandage wrap to your knee with the assistance of San Antonio Talons' player Pierre Turner. ACE wraps are used to apply compression to an injured joint to reduce swelling and alleviate pain. www.tsaog.com/gonzalez

    I already have 16% of my meniscus removed. I appreciate the proper wrap method but my question is: Can one use more than ONE Ace Wrap to provide additional support or is more than one wrap too much. Yes, I am working out regularly and legs is a basic exercise in my regimine. So, I use three Ace Wraps so that I do not damage my minus 16% meniscus knee any further. This arthorscopic surgery took place in the 90's - Long ago. But prevention of further injury is my goal Please advise!! Thank you - I am 1LT Los not chaser 48 as youtube seems to show time and again. Thank you

    Will this limit the knee's mobility a lot? Would I be able to do a small game of basketball at my local park? (which I do frequently)

    you have a fairly wide bandage that leaves a nice single piece behind the knee. How would you modify this for a bandage that is more narrow? Should I start on one side of the midpoint, wrap around once then come back up the other side?

      I have the same question. The wrap he used is nice and wide. As soon as I saw the wide wrap, I thought to myself, mine's not that wide. I wish mine was that wide! How many times can I say the word "wide" in one comment?! Haha! Anyway, I think the ~W I D E~ wrap would handle the knee bending and such much better without bunching up.
      I imagine you wrap the knee the same way. Let's see if he answers!

    • @myawsum14
      @myawsum14 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The knee is a large joint. You really need a minimum 6" wrap. Anything less will roll, or cause wrinkles when you apply it which can cause blood clots in the back of your leg.

    Thanks for the well wishes. Unfortunately, I'm at the opposite end of the US from my doctor and family. my Mom died the day after Christmas of a brain tumor and I am living in her home taking care of Probate. I fell over the dog gate in Dec twisting the knee and landing on the kneecap. I think I have a mechanical injury as well as nerve damage. I think I will. Need to brace this knee until I can get medical care. Do you have videos on various braces? Peace, Aviemare

    Shame I spent 15 bucks on a leg wrap from Ace and either they cheaped out with their material or it was a defective one but the wrap was loose and I never have been able to get it to wrap snugly enough for the right compression. My leg is swollen and I already have a bigger knee so I bought the wider size but it seems it is too loose or it just stretched out too quick. ANd the stupid clips are ridiculous, already lost one, popping off. I am in terrible pain and I have no idea what to do now.
