I've had one of these for around 50,000 kays - a 1999 ABS. My mechanic (he's got a Yamaha V-Max) says Honda 'fluked it' with these and made the perfect bike. Key words/phrases: smooth, quiet, build quality, creamy wave of torque, low-revving, pillion comfort, mile-eater, luggage capacity, under-stressed and therefore long-lasting, many say better than the 1300 that superseded it. A bit heavy (ABS model ~320kg) though surprisingly nimble. Not a rocket with the weight and limited to 100 bhp by European laws of the time. (Conceived by Honda Germany, 4 years' R&D before release in 1990. In production for about 15 years.) It's more tourer than sports, and some say lacking in character (which can be taken to mean noise and vibration. Desirable traits in a tourer?) An FJR or GTR it ain't, but up the job of 2-up touring with 23kg of cargo with stock top box and panniers. Some problems with pre-1996 models such as too light forks and front wheel. Highly recommended budget tourer. I'm over 50 now and may never need another bike. (135,000 km so far, and probably has another 250k in it!) Honda, I salute you - your ST11000 Pan European is an absolute legend!

P.S. The tank holds a whopping 28 litres (down low for low centre of gravity - the 'tank' above houses the large air filter and carb snorkels.) This means ~400 km before having to fill up. Nice!

Never had mine kick in but may be broken , the real problem is the linked brakes which cause it to run wide when going quickly . Really messes up the handling sadly
