Thanks for the great video! Looking forward to going there. Good to know about the best times to go to avoid the rainy season, and really like the sense of safety, not always feeling the possibility of a threatening encounter. You guys make enjoyable videos. We find ourselves looking forward to your next video release. God Bless!!
So happy you guys did a video on Manizales, which is on our list of possible retirement cities ! We are currently in Nicaragua, then heading for Guatemala and Mexico…. Then Manizales, Cuenca Ecuador, Arequipa Peru, Buenas Aires, Bariloche….hoping we can pick our favorite by then maybe Thx !
It's a nice city. Smaller but still big and a bit more modern than small towns. - It's cooler than Medellin and a little warmer than Bogota. So, very comfortable considering there is no insulation.
Guys that was great. Congrats for such a beautiful video. And let me tell you, I don’t usually follow TH-camrs, because the majority are too superficial and shallow, but you are different: the way you talk, how you express yourselves. For example something that was surprising for me was when you said something about young people smoking, it says a lot about you guys. Considering the fact that you come from a country where everything seems to be normal. GUYS YOU ARE THE BEST! And I meant ❤that.
WE LOVE THIS!!! - In making these videos we have committed to being our true selves. We're pretty laid back and value health in various aspects. So yeah, smoking is like no bueno for us.
I love how you mention the geography of the area like that’s usually the part that I’m interested in the most because I’m a nerd 😅😅. Pero si me encanta saber de eso detalles sobre la geografía y naturaleza
Jonny here... Zach, geography is a must. I actually taught high-school geography for 3 years right after graduating college. So my brain is quite attuned to looking at things in that lens. I'm happy to hear you're enjoying that.
I love the Manizales culture !!! There are many activities tondo every day. Very interesting b!! I love the hot springs and Manizales has close 7 hot springs, people use tongo there at nights !!! Manizales has a Geriatric hospital !!!
We don't pay much attention to the hospitals, but we can see how that would be important. - The culture is nice, the people seem generally very content with everything and living.
(Jonny here) No quick answer here... We met 8 years ago while Widny was working as a stay at home nanny in the United States... We crossed paths and fell in love and decided to keep that love alive and got married a year later. We did not really consider moving to Colombia until about 2019. Then the pandemic made it even more possible with remote working options. Widny is originally from Bogota, so it made sense to make our home base in that city to spend more time with her family. - Out of all places to meet, we met on a dating site called Plenty of Fish.
@@lifetheorycouple that's excellente, you're a very lucky man! I have 90 days in Colombia and was planning to go to Medellin next month, but don't really have anything booked, currently have an Airbnb, and I'm originally from British Columbia, Canada & enjoying the experience here, 1st time in South America. Thanks again for your help with the videos, food for thought and I also enjoy Ramon soup! Peace and love, Namaste 🙏 Shawn Thomas
@@lifetheorycouple I am looking forward to seeing the botanical gardens, Simon Bolivar casa, Botero Museum, MONSERATE, & a few more local tourist attractions and I will appreciate your thoughts and perhaps company, since I am traveling solitary ? 🥂 cheers, Salud
Manizales la mejor ciudad para invertir y vivir de colombia la capital ofrece elejir sistema de seguridad y la ciudad mas atractiva para hacer negocios.
I just absolutely love Medellin, especially Laureles. I'm looking for a smaller city though, but one that has as much greenery and as many parks everywhere, which Medellin has! Is Manizales "green," and what other city do you recommend if I love Laureles so much.
Hi James! - Manizales is very green and there are several hot springs just about 15-20 minutes away by car. - If more green and smaller is what you seek, I'd look at Armenia. - If you're looking for something similar to Laureles, I honestly think of several neighborhoods in Bogota like: Quinta Camacho, Cedritos, Santa Barbara, Parque 93, and generally Usaquen. There are lots of restaurants and several city parks that are much bigger than Primer Parque Laureles. These areas are also more developed versus the rest of the city making it way more walkable and friendly in general. - Overall, I encourage anyone to give more than one city or town a visit if time permits.
@@lifetheorycouple A friend that lives there. Less hustle and bustle of Medellin, appears to be cheaper cost of living than the big city. small town feel but good sized city. But then again I'm also considering Guatape!
Hola Wes! - Yes, let's keep in touch. When plans become more official we'll reach out. Likely via DMs on IG. - In the meantime, keep up the good work, we love your content!
For a city... Manizales is better. However, if you like the warmer temperatures, you might enjoy Armenia more. The one plus about Armenia is that you can get to the Cocora Valley in about 30-40 minutes. This areas has a ton of outdoors activities if that's something you're into.
@Where's Wes? is also a cool youtuber living in Manizales. He makes cool content about different cities in Colombia as well. I think you guys might like some of his content. Keep up the good work!

I did not know Manizales was that pretty and interesting.
It's an interesting city for sure. Feels smaller but kind of big. We liked it.

Thank you! - Yes, the people are much nicer in the smaller cities in Colombia, this showed in Manizales.

Def considering this as a retirement dest!
That's sooo great to hear! What makes you specifically want to consider Manizales?

🎵 Lluvia Con Nieve 🎵 - We find it accurate to call Manizales a micro climate. Thank you for the view and comment!

I'm just now finding your channel. I'm getting ready to buy a home in Colombia myself. Do you prefer Manizales or Armenia, Colombia?
Manizales sin duda.

You dont talk about Hot springs!! Manizales has 7 places to enjoy thermals.
Minute 2:35… Are you sure it wasn’t mentioned there?
Videos ? Pictures ?????
What are you exactly asking here?
Manizales is Magical! You have a beautiful girlfriend. 🎉👏🏻😁 🇨🇴
Thank you! - That’s my wife actually. Married 8+ years at this point.

Miley Cyrus
You're funny! I didn't think about that!
Are you intentionally making it sound like"Miley Cyrus"?? It's kinda all I can hear when I hear you (white guy) say it. jeje
HA! - Fair point. Not really... But, different accents produce different results.
Can we get an apartment in Manizales and visit more often? 🥹
Jonny, pretty please?!?!?
Put it in the spreadsheet.
