Thanks for the vid. Just got one and had it bubbling @ 103 degrees in about 24 hours. The beauty of the beast is its simplicity - I know jack about pools/spas/hot tubs yet it is working great. The Ikea-like design of components and assemblies makes set-up a breeze, and The Who's Tommy could figure out operation of the control unit. You're comment of "...90% of spa benefit @ 10% of the cost" is dead on. Had I known about this class of spa I would have bought one years ago. Good non-h2O geek presentation Davil and your attention to safety is well projected to a target market of percolating buyers (like me.)
I absolutely love my PureSpa and love the fact that it is so lightweight and portable, which means in a 4 season location, setup and takedown is simple... I use mine just about every day and sometimes twice a day... I have had mine for 2 years and only paid $400 for it brand new, so if you compare that cost to going and using a hotel hot tub at $15 a visit, you can see this is a very good therapeutic investment... for my occasional back and joint issues it is perfect... the bubbles are just strong enough to really help unlike jets which can actually over stress muscles...
Our spa had a leak after one season. We couldn’t find the leak but realized we were still in the warranty period of one year. We contacted the company and they sent a new tub and we received it within a week! We love the spa and use it frequently.
Davil- just one more point about my question from a few minutes ago- i do feel like a humming vibration when i put my hand on the filter. Is that what i'm supposed to feel rather than a suction feeling? (p.s.- i do know that one filter is just for show as you said but i'm referring to the main working filter). lol
Nice Review!! How big is the box that holds the Pump/heater? I want to build a base and want to make sure one side is larger enough for the box. Does it come with all the starter chemicals/filters to get it set up?
The control unit is about 2 and half to 3 feet from the tub. It does not come with any chemicals, but it does come with a filter and some test strips. I would go ahead and buy some better test strips though.
I have bought a very similar product. In my country the very basic “hard” hot-tubs start at over $5000 with the average being around $7000. The inflatable was $800 delivered. For the price I think it is wonderful. I call it my “middle class” spa pool. I believe the benefits out weigh the disadvantages

I don’t think you can use a hot tub inside unless you have a moisture-treated ceiling and walls... otherwise you will end up with all kinds of nasty mold, mildew and deterioration... not so good in a rental and could get you evicted... just saying...
You DO NOT want to put this in your house your floor will not hold it over time. The unit when full weighs 2,100 pounds and that is without people in it. Now if you have a concrete basement floor then you might be ok.
My Intex manual says the second filter is there simply because law requires it, even though the one is more than sufficient for the hot tub... so it’s not actually a fault...
I think it was false advertising honestly, I mean you can't use a collapsible tube for a suction and they would need something flexible if this thing deflates.
We bought ours a couple of weeks ago, we live in Utah. We put ours in our garage, it gets pretty cold up here....the nights have been in the single digits but it seems to be working ok. The tub does cool down pretty fast but by that time we are ready to get out. We have had one problem with it, the lid had two pinholes from the factory but they replaced it at no cost. Other than that it's been 😎 cool.
Nice! The warranty is pretty good while it lasts so hopefully if anything breaks its right before the warranty is up. And yes mine cools down from 104 to 100 generally within about 30 minutes of the bubbles being on. But that's enough for me.

My pump has weathered many rain storms, the only thing to worry about is the power cord getting water in it. I could mine up and put it inside the pump enclosure to shelter it but it is made to withstand normal weather
I have an Intex pool with the 2 suction fittings for the filter. I think your extra one is actually a backup in case somebody's hair gets caught in the primary one it will release the hair. At least that's what it said in the manual for my pool.
So I took both filters off and covered the one above the outlet with the rubber cover that came with the tub. There was absolutely no suction from the other side and it caused the pump to turn off pretty fast. Then I drained the tub and disconnected the hoses from the control unit. I sprayed water on the filter hole by the outlet and saw it come out of the hole that connects to the control unit. When I sprayed water into the other filter inlet it went nowhere. So no, the other filter does absolutely nothing other than hold a spare filter.
Is it possible that the second one is for chemicals? I just bought a Saluspa from Costco and it has a second filter cartridge similar to yours, the really poor instructions mention its for dispersing chemicals, but doesn't say where to put it on mine. Thx for the vid!
Can, it comes with a sheet of some material to act as a projector for the bottom. But would just be real careful since it's a lot of water and if something fails that would be a bad time.

Yes definitely, it added about $20 a month if I was running it constantly. You can leave it off when you're not planning on using it. For awhile or just turn the heat to very low though to save money.

I think I might have mentioned that I barely noticed it, but that was during the summer. When winter came around I noticed the power bill increased but I couldn't give you an exact number. I do know that when it runs the heater it's using about as many watts as my toaster so it is somewhat significant. I tend to leave the thing on everyday but if you only turned on the heater when you planned to use it, it probably wouldn't be that noticeable.
It is fine usually, but it's a good idea to protect the power cable from the water. I had an issue with mine where it rained a lot and then the power cord got water in it. It was under warranty so they sent me a whole new pump unit at no charge, so not a big deal.

Once you get it up to temperature there really just either ph up or ph down and chlorine. The chlorine is easy it just comes in tablets and you just replace the one in the bobber that comes with it every few days. And yes it could probably fit on a deck, I would go with the 4 person one for that though.
I've been out in it when the temperature is in the low 40s at night and it got to about 98 or so after 30 minutes. If you don't run the bubbles it would last longer.

Help! The filter that goes over the “C” does seem to do anything at all. It’s not clogged. The other filter attachment does suck in correctly and the attachment above that, where the light goes is blowing water out. Can the two be switched for some reason ?
So I did recently end up disecting this thing after about 2 and half years of having it and it turns out that 2nd filter is connected with a hose that is collapsable so it can easily get pinched and end up doing absolutely nothing which was my problem. I would never have known that was the case without cutting it open either, so very bad design. It is normal for water to be coming out of that top hole though, that's where the water returns from after being heated.

If you keep it running and circulating it shouldn't be a problem to be at freezing temps, but the manual does say that it will heat slower once ambient temperature gets below 50F (10C). The warranty also says it is voided if the tub freezes so just be careful that it stays running.
Cheapest I've seen them this year is about 800, the 4 person goes for around 650, so if you're not going to have a lot of people in it that wouldn't be a bad option.

I've had my 4 person Bestway Miami SaluSpa for 3 years and love it. My second filter actually has a hose conected to it that goes to pump. I know its a different brand but same thing. Only issue i have is inflatable is not repairable. Trying to save $55.00 and make my own. Anyone have suggestions?

I live in Florida so it changes here as well, not quite that hot but I don't see why it being a problem. I've had five at most and it wasn't too crowded, depends on how big people are. 6 might be doable if some were kids.
Average outlet plug is 15 amps... these small pumps run about 10 to 14 amps. Using an extension cord could draw more power. Some actually require a 20 amp circuit. Wish reviews would cover this more and also, is it cold weather compatible. Is the floor soft cushioned? Does it come with a ground liner.
I ran a very long extension cord and it never caused a problem. The bottom is not cushioned but seeing as I have never seen a cushioned hot tub of any kind I don't see why that's even a question. It did come with a ground liner. Like any water, if it doesn't move and is at freezing temperature it will freeze. It does also lose heat faster when it's cold or the wind is blowing. Think I got all the questions answered.
I put a sheet of 2 inch thick styrofoam insulation under mine and which makes for a nicer floor feeling plus adds some insulation which presumably helps keep heat from escaping into the ground.

Thanks, it may. As long as the recirculating pump keeps going and you keep it out of the wind it should be alright. It won't freeze anyway, can't be positive about whether or not it will hold heat all that well.
Yes the difference of the inflatable to the expensive spa is the bubble jet the expensive spa has higher air pump that can really massage you body compare to the inflatable has a lower air pump that cannot massage ur body
Yea and the heater is only 110v so it has no chance to keep up with demand. So when in use the temperature will eventually drop to 98, so generally I get about 30 minutes out of it. But that's more than enough for me.

Because I feel nothing when my hand is up against them. I"m having trouble with my chemistry and wondering if the filters are just not working? Can you please help me? You won't notice much with the filter housing on, if you unscrew it and cover it, it should be more obvious. Really if you have water coming out of the outlet above it you must have suction. What kind of chemistry problem are you having?
@@alchile7387 Yes, I bought the "Spa Choice Premium Spa Kit" I use Bromine because it's better for your skin. I only change the water every 3 months or longer. I'm still using the same spa kit.
I've been testing the bromine level with a test strip.for four days now in my brand new tub. I have a floating dispenser with four tablets in it. I have shocked the pool three times with chlorine shock trying to get the free chlorine level up too. Did you also find that the bromine level stayed too low?
So far it's pretty durable my 4 year old likes to jump around in it and it's been fine. I actually nicked it a few times with my string trimmer and it's got no problems.
The power cable got water in it during a storm, but it was under warranty so they replaced the whole pump assembly for free. The tub is still looking good, haven't had issues with that part.
I do still have it, it doesn't leak from the bottom, but some water does get in through the cover. Had an issue with leaving the power plug in the rain, but it was replaced for free and haven't had the issue again
Brandwise it doesn't really matter, it helps if you get ones designed for a spa because the measurements on the side will be closer to what you need. But you should get Chlorine tablets or Bromine to clean the water, a PH Up and a PH Down, and something for water hardening if your water is really soft. PH Up usually increases your alkalinity too so if that is really low you usually need to use more PH Up and then bring the PH down later. The key thing is to be patient and focus on one thing at a time. Let the water fully heat first before you worry about chemicals, and then start with your hardness, then alkalinity, and then PH and Chlorine last.
We have a 6 person. The temperature lost 3 degrees running it 60+ minutes. 100 degrees reduced to 97 degrees. Mid summer night. I am tired of hearing/reading comments saying heat went down. Not noticeable.
How heavy can a woman be to safely use this? Asking for a friend. Also, how hard is the bottom where you are sitting if you don't have a little chair like yours? Thank You for an educational video.
Not sure on the weight part, but the bottom is dependant on what it's on top of. It won't be any harder than the ground and really if you think about how a bathtub is pretty hard and not noticeable it's like that.

A friend I visited had one today. That is why I even considered this type. He is pleased. We live in Florida also. Like the water hot and one review said this one was why he chose because it continued heating while the bubbles were doing their job.
Yes it does, I did have to get a replacement control unit for free under warranty because the power cord filled with water from the rain. So worth covering it in some way.
I’ve had this happen on a pool pump and that’s because I let the pump run dry on accident. Water is what keeps the shafts cool. The shafts are made out of porcelain so if they get too hot they will crack.

And the second filter is actually not intended to work... it is required by law but was not really required to make the tub work, so they made it a dummy...
Required by law? That doesn't make sense, how does adding a second dummy filter comply with law, if it's just a dummy filter and not doing anything, it's not complying.

Yea the warranty is really good on these.
Just make sure you know the warranty on it. Things has changed in a year.
The 2nd filter is a low volume filter, there is a vinyl channel from it to the pump and it will get dirty.

Unfortunately not, the drain doesn't have any kind of threading on it, you would have to find some way to funnel it

My second filter does nothing aswell. Maybe it was initially designed for running both but had issues so the bailed on the idea

As far as the jets/bubbles go... do they massage u ??? Are they powerful enough??
If you hold your back to the wall they do massage a bit, but they're not like a jet at all.

I've had my 4 person Bestway Miami SaluSpa for 3 years and love it. My second filter actually has a hose conected to it that goes to pump. I know its a different brand but same thing. Only issue i have is inflatable is not repairable. Trying to save $55.00 and make my own. Anyone have suggestions?

Would this survive in very hot environments? E.g. 115' F heat during the day and cold nights?
Also, how many people can sit comfortably? It's advertised as 6, but it looks a bit small for 6 people
I live in Florida so it changes here as well, not quite that hot but I don't see why it being a problem.
I've had five at most and it wasn't too crowded, depends on how big people are. 6 might be doable if some were kids.
Average outlet plug is 15 amps... these small pumps run about 10 to 14 amps. Using an extension cord could draw more power. Some actually require a 20 amp circuit. Wish reviews would cover this more and also, is it cold weather compatible. Is the floor soft cushioned? Does it come with a ground liner.
I ran a very long extension cord and it never caused a problem. The bottom is not cushioned but seeing as I have never seen a cushioned hot tub of any kind I don't see why that's even a question. It did come with a ground liner. Like any water, if it doesn't move and is at freezing temperature it will freeze. It does also lose heat faster when it's cold or the wind is blowing.
Think I got all the questions answered.
I put a sheet of 2 inch thick styrofoam insulation under mine and which makes for a nicer floor feeling plus adds some insulation which presumably helps keep heat from escaping into the ground.
Did you use a extension cord? I dont have a plug where I would like to setup.

It does not cool the water it only heats it. You can turn the heater off and it will cool eventually I guess.

It's about 8 feet. Definitely need a good thick outdoor extension cord for most uses.

Thanks, it may. As long as the recirculating pump keeps going and you keep it out of the wind it should be alright. It won't freeze anyway, can't be positive about whether or not it will hold heat all that well.

Yes the difference of the inflatable to the expensive spa is the bubble jet the expensive spa has higher air pump that can really massage you body compare to the inflatable has a lower air pump that cannot massage ur body
Yea and the heater is only 110v so it has no chance to keep up with demand. So when in use the temperature will eventually drop to 98, so generally I get about 30 minutes out of it. But that's more than enough for me.
How much does it cost to run each month?
I honestly didn't even notice it on my electric bill, I did notice the water bill increase a bit on the months I refilled it though.
Last year I noticed my electric bill increased, it was my first year with it . I'm going to pay more attention to it.

You won't notice much with the filter housing on, if you unscrew it and cover it, it should be more obvious. Really if you have water coming out of the outlet above it you must have suction. What kind of chemistry problem are you having?

Premium Spa Kit" I use Bromine because it's better for your skin. I only change the water every 3 months or longer. I'm still using the same spa kit.

I've been testing the bromine level with a test strip.for four days now in my brand new tub. I have a floating dispenser with four tablets in it. I have shocked the pool three times with chlorine shock trying to get the free chlorine level up too.
Did you also find that the bromine level stayed too low?

About 6 or 8 ft I think, worth getting an extension cord so you can not stretch it either way
if you turn on the bubbles the heater will stop heating. so he cant hold the temperature.
No the heater will keep working, it's just that it's taking in the outside air and pumping it into the water so the heater can't keep up.
I would like to ask you,is it durable or it is easy to break if it is used frequently by children or adults?
So far it's pretty durable my 4 year old likes to jump around in it and it's been fine. I actually nicked it a few times with my string trimmer and it's got no problems.

The power cable got water in it during a storm, but it was under warranty so they replaced the whole pump assembly for free. The tub is still looking good, haven't had issues with that part.

I do still have it, it doesn't leak from the bottom, but some water does get in through the cover. Had an issue with leaving the power plug in the rain, but it was replaced for free and haven't had the issue again

I just purchased a intex spa. What chemicals should I use?
Brandwise it doesn't really matter, it helps if you get ones designed for a spa because the measurements on the side will be closer to what you need. But you should get Chlorine tablets or Bromine to clean the water, a PH Up and a PH Down, and something for water hardening if your water is really soft. PH Up usually increases your alkalinity too so if that is really low you usually need to use more PH Up and then bring the PH down later. The key thing is to be patient and focus on one thing at a time. Let the water fully heat first before you worry about chemicals, and then start with your hardness, then alkalinity, and then PH and Chlorine last.

We have a 6 person. The temperature lost 3 degrees running it 60+ minutes. 100 degrees reduced to 97 degrees. Mid summer night. I am tired of hearing/reading comments saying heat went down. Not noticeable.

Not sure on the weight part, but the bottom is dependant on what it's on top of. It won't be any harder than the ground and really if you think about how a bathtub is pretty hard and not noticeable it's like that.

A friend I visited had one today. That is why I even considered this type. He is pleased. We live in Florida also. Like the water hot and one review said this one was why he chose because it continued heating while the bubbles were doing their job.

Yes it does, I did have to get a replacement control unit for free under warranty because the power cord filled with water from the rain. So worth covering it in some way.

The impeller shaft inside the pump breaks after 3-5 months of continual use.
Mine hasn't and I've had it for over 2 years now.
I’ve had this happen on a pool pump and that’s because I let the pump run dry on accident. Water is what keeps the shafts cool. The shafts are made out of porcelain so if they get too hot they will crack.

And the second filter is actually not intended to work... it is required by law but was not really required to make the tub work, so they made it a dummy...
Required by law? That doesn't make sense, how does adding a second dummy filter comply with law, if it's just a dummy filter and not doing anything, it's not complying.
