  • Just some information about the spa I bought about 5 or 6 months ago. It hasn't been trouble free. Although I could have warrantied it, I just fixed it myself

    I have had mine for 4 months now...and I have not had any issues. I use it almost every night...on average I use it 4x's a week.
    I keep it at 96-98 and then hours before using it I crank it to 104. Has raised my electric bill by 25-30 dollars. No big deal, as I knew this would happen and its worth it to me.
    The temp outside at night is around 40-54 degrees, and it stays between 98-104 for about 1 hour. That works for me! I actually like to cool off because 104 for an hour is too long. Around 98 is when my husband and start saying...Want to get out?
    -The coolest I want to be in it on a cold night is around 96 degrees.
    Anyways, I hope this helps!!

    I have had my Intex Pure Spa for a about a year now. I started to have to have issues a 5 days before my 1 year warranty was up. I had a code E96 and the pump would stop running. If I did not turn on heater the pump would operate but as soon as I turned on the heater BOOM code E96 and the unit would shut down and just beep. I also had digit readout problems as well as my digital control board was saying my spa was 189 degrees lol !! I called Intex customer support and explained to this young lady my problem and told her I had a code E96. She said right away that the lower unit was defective and she said if I had the receipt and it was less than a year old I would receive a new lower unit. Well I had receipt that I scanned into my computer and uploaded to Intex web site and within 2 weeks I received a new lower unit in the mail from California.I love my Intex Spa and have it set up outside of my house and I used it all winter long when it was as low as 20 degrees outside lol !! I even got in it during a blizzard in Jan. 2016 and it was awesome until I got out and had 40-60 mph wind and snow hitting me lol !! I will not do that again lol !! The lower unit would have cost me $245.00 + shipping if it were out of warranty but I got lucky. The spa itself if it had a unrepairable hole or split in seams would cost me $159.00 to replace if I ever need to.I would most likely buy a new Intex spa if the lower unit ever goes out again being I am now out of warranty and I would have the new spa, lower unit , cover, digital control for spare parts. I purchased my Intex spa from a local Walmart in Baltimore Maryland and it was on sale for $329.95 !! I have family and friends who have the high dollar Hot Tubs and it seems their hot tubs are always breaking down and it cost a minimum of $300-$400.00 for a repair + parts so this Intex Spa to me is a great deal and works great as far as I am concerned. THANK YOU Intex for a affordable Spa that I love !!

      And now after installing a new lower unit just about 2 1/2 months ago I am once again getting the E96 code with the new lower unit !! I would not recommend anyone buying this junk !!

      E96 just means your filters are clogged and need to be replaced. Start there. E95 is when the real problems happen!

      Ha !! Ha !! Aaron not quite !! I had brand new filters in the tub and were pre soaked liked suggested. I am a HVAC Tech & LIcensed Plumber by trade and was on a NO Heat service call a few days ago and my new customer has the same Intex Hot Tub !! They had the same exact problem as well of 1,000's of people all over the world are having.Their lower unit started beeping only 5 months into it and would stop pump and filter & heater. guess what code E96. They called Intex just like I did and a new lower unit was sent out under warranty. About 7-8 months later just a few weeks after the 1 year warranty expired the 2nd lower unit did the samething E96. This time they had to buy a new lower unit this time and spent $327.56 to have it sent out from California. Not 3 months later once again BEEP BEEP code E96 and their 3rd lower unit went out again. This is a very well known defect with this Intex Spa and Intex know what the problem is but will not tell us consumers what part is bad or sell it to us. They sell so many other parts but want us to buy a new lower unit when we get a Code E96. I am disgusted and have decided to start a class action law suit against Intex and will be starting a web page & Facebook page as well as a TH-cam page in reference to this problem. Do some research on the web and you will see that 1,000's or more people are having the same issue. Oh I have a box of about 44 brand new filters I purchased online from Target that are model S1 and purchased 2 packs for only $2.75 and have lots of them lol.In the meantime I will take a tankless gas fired water heater and small circulator pump and run 2 hoses to hot tub ( supply & return ) to heat the water that way and just use the pump & filter and not turn on heat with Intex control that will start to beep in less than 3-5 mintutes and shut down pump & filter every time.If I do not turn on the heater the pump, filter and bubbles work fine all day & all night. Its a problem with the heater or control board or maybe a sensor.I have seen many people have this same problem right out of the box on first startup.Many people have said its the GFCI cord or defective pump which is not the case. I talked to several people at Intex and was told that it is not the pump or GFCI and they know what the bad part is but cannot tell us do to a liability issue. This is total crap and they could at least have some repairs centers in the USA that we could at least send the lower unit to have repaired. But they just do not care period. So its time for a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT !!

      My filters were clean and the unit showed E96 and the temp was showing 212 degrees.Intex told me that I would have to buy a whole new unit,which cost just as much as I paid for the hot tub.The first season I used it the tubes cracked which I replaced then this season the pump went,I just replaced that 3 weeks ago.I'm not very happy with this product and would never buy it again.Now I'll just use it as a pool.

    I just had the E90 error. Had me worried but it just meant the pump/heater unit didn't have enough water in it. I used the garden hose to pour water into the top transparent tube and everything worked fine. I use mine from mid-April thru mid-November in Wisconsin. When its consistently in the 30s at night I take it down.... though I have used it at 28 degrees. Its on its 3rd summer and still works fine though I suspect this will be its last year. Still worth it for 3 years though.

    • @markaes
      @markaes 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Mark Hornig I take it back... E90 error kept coming back every time I turned off the motor. I usually was able to get it going again by unplugging it or messing with the inlet/outlet tubes. Today I spent 5 hours taking it apart and messing with it but I could not get it back on. (The ceramic motor impeller was fine). I'm now annoyed-- had I got through this 3rd summer I would have felt fine but it was really only 2 summers and that wasn't worth the money spent!

      i'm experiencing the same problem. THo by accident I found out that if i remove 3 bolts that hold top tower and disconnect the plug to screen and plug back in it would reset and worked just fine. I had to do that maybe 3 times in last few months, now all of a sudden not working. so I'm going to try ur hose trick. I hope to still find a solution and keep using i love it when working.

    • @markaes
      @markaes 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you put water in I recommend doing it slowly/gently. Right before it stopped working altogether I used the sprayer on stream and I worry I may have damaged something inside that caused a permanent vapor lock. There was no visible water leak but it seems air was getting in somehow.
      For a few weeks before it stopped I'd been finding small black bits in the water that I thought were dirt or mold, but I suspect it was the remains of internal seals that disintegrated. I took the pump and sensors out and didn't find anything obvious but I can't get it to run again...
      Everything but the control unit was fine but it was the same price to buy a whole new tub and keep the rest for spare parts. But I'm not happy about it and i worry this will prematurely fail as well.

      Mark, thanks for your notes about your E90 error code. Would you mind giving me more information about the "top transparent tube" you referenced? Is that the water outlet tube 'B' that you're referring to? And if so, did you disconnect A,B, & C and then turn the unit on its side to fill that tube? As you might have guessed, I also have that error code after 1.5 years of awesome usage; emptied the spa midsummer as I did last year, refilled and now it won't start. I do notice an air bubble in one of the inlet/outlet tubes. I also am wondering if I shouldn't just empty the spa, refill it and try again. Argh! Thanks for any help you can provide.

    I have had my intex purespa for a year now, but with cold winters, it has only been in use for about 4 months. Just before I took it down to store it last year, I got an error message which indicated no heat. Intex sent me another filtration unit no charge and did not ask for the old one back. I received it in October so didn't reinstall till this May/17. Another error message after about a month of use. This time it was the water flow. After troubleshooting with customer service, they sent me yet another unit but this time I had to send the old one back, which cost me $40. So essentially this is my 3rd filtration unit in less than a year and I'm told my warranty is over. I disagree with that since Intex should warranty the new part from the time I received it. Not so happy with all the problems but when it works, I love this spa.

    We just purchased this spa a week ago. It was easy to set up. Within an hour, air started leaking. We patched one hole only to find another. We called Amazon, they said Intex would call us within 48 hours. That was a week ago. So now Amazon wants us to ship it to them. What a royal pain. We are very disappointed with this hot tub.

    Got another Error code E90. Intex says I need to replace my Control Base. I have already replaced it one time. Luckily, it was only 11 mos after I bought it so it was under warranty. They replaced it for free. Not so lucky with the second one. Have had it for 16 mos and out of warranty. Any suggestions on how I can fix it myself.

    intex E90 code, what else is new, first the gfi and plug began to smoke, changed it out, works ok for awhile. then the e90 code. So I changed both filters. Everything works fine except the heater. hit that button and almost immediately flashing E90 again. not sure if the gfi fried the heat coupler. New evidence always had a drip leak where the tub n motor connect. Hear it may cause E90 but the heater too? If E90 comes on does that negate the heater?
    Thinking of replacing the motor but looking for answers first.
    Tks

    I am having an issue where it will heat for about three days and then stop heating. And then I hit the heat button and push the heat button again and it starts back up again and starts to heat again for another three days. Anyone else have this issue? It’s almost like it has a setting to only allowed to heat for three days and then it shuts off the heat. I don’t get an error code. It just says “end” and the current temperature.

I think it's from the extreme sun/heat we had last week. it still runs fine but do u think I'm at risk of electrocution? sorry, I don't know how the insides work and or that cross over of water/air bubbles. My inflatable hot tub is leaking water from the "A" hole, no pun intended. Its leaking where the unit connects to the air spout. The spout that blows in the air and cause the bubbles. I've tried waterproof adhesive, crazy glue with patches, no luck.Trying to put it on the inside and find the leak which is very difficult.If you know I can fix this, please help, my hot tub has been down for almost a month of trial and error on how to fix this. Thanks so much

    Hey man, thanks for sharing. I've got an issue with mine as of last night. All of a sudden the filter pump stopped working, just cut off. Thought it might be cause the filters were dirty, cleaned them yesterday morning though. Cleaned them again and nothing. It sounded like the pump was powering up, but it wasn't circulating. If I left it on, the power would trip and I'd get an error code. Now it doesn't make a noise at all. Yesterday morning though, I accidentally overfilled it while getting dressed for work. I didn't drain it before I left cause I was running late. I'm afraid that overfilling it wore out the pump? What's your opinion?

    • @saleenandlance
      @saleenandlance  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      might be time for new filters. try unplugging it, you'll have to reset the gfci on the plug when you plug it back in. Then take the filters off and see if it'll circulate. If it does get some new filters.

The blower works but as soon as I press the water filter button or heater button it stops and shuts down with and error 90. Anybody have this problem? Intex pool . I just developed the same issue and mine is still under warranty so they are sending me a new motor for the base. They said the motor for the intake filters is different than what creates the bubbles. I am no repair person I cannot believe I have to replace the motor in this thing myself! It wasn't working correctly out of the box but took me 2 months to figure out it wasn't me and my chemical problem it was the unit. UGH!!

    • @markaley8439
      @markaley8439 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Had the same E 90 issue. Replaced the pump motor ($50). Also I keep the filters clean to insure a good flow. Did fine and still pumps but an E 95 code came up. Thinks it's too hot. It's a thermal sensor shorting out.

    I really do not believe you when u say, everybody is happy with them,,Intex should not be in business,,charge a fortune and when something goes wrong their customer service sucks. They will not help u with the problem. I will tell you about mine, I HOPE INTEX SEES THIS COMMENT,
    I went a bought one of the Intex inflatable portable hot tub,,I SWEAR I DIDNT HAVE IT A YEAR, it quit working,,they could not help me, then I go and buy one of their pools,,SUCKS WORSE, the second summer it's pump impeller shaft broke creating a horrible loud grinding noise,but before that it's little vacuuming solution is so damn messed up the way the hoses have to be placed,,as you vacuum stuff off bottom,,it's filter doesn't catch the small dirt particles therefore pushing it right back out the output hole
    All I wanted was a little therapy I'm done broke and I can't get anything else 😭😭😭, I'm lost, wish I could build a diy pool or hot tub my little grandbabies all six years and under,,,I have four,,they love water and when I watch them while Mom works, I feel so guilty because there's literally nothing to do here for them.
    NOT EVEN A DANG TRAMPOLINE!
    I'm sorry about that sir,,,it's not your fault and I should not vent in public.
    Thank you and again, I'm so sorry

    Everyone is having issues with these hot tubs. Why is this company still selling them with all the problems we are having. $400 bucks and used it maybe 6 months and now it's junk. I should have just sucked it up and bought a better hot tub with no headaches like I got from this one...If I would habe known everyone else had these problems I would never have bought it..

    It's a better idea to keep an inflatable hot tub indoors. If you want an outdoor tub, get a real one. (The problem is, those are so damn pricey)

    • @saleenandlance
      @saleenandlance  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a good first tub I think. It'll let you know if a more expensive tub is your thing after the new tub feeling is gone and it's more maintenance than you thought it would be.

      It is great for a person who moves around, or lives in an apartment with a small area in the back yard for a hot tub.

    • @markaes
      @markaes 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly. Its perfect for a starter tub as long as you go into it realizing its essentially disposable... I had a real hot tub at my last house, and the intex is much cheaper and easier to maintain. After 2 years I had to replace mine for $300, but that was still cheaper than having someone fix the heater in my the real hot tub. Too bad I can't use it in the winter though...

You'll have nightmares of error code 90....95.....96 AAAAAARRRRGGGGGGG.90 is flow prob .95/96 is the goddamm sensors and code wont reset for a whole day.Takes 3 days to heat and costs a fortune to run.

    My spa has an air leak. I've checked for air leaks around the entire tub with warm soapy water and didn't find any leaks. I think the problem is with the air valve stem. This has been a problem since I set it up for the first time two weeks ago. I have called Intex Customer Support several times (800) 234-6839. Every time I call I get someone that I just can't understand due to poor English. Come to find out, the call center serving Canada, USA & Mexico is located in China. What sense does that make? Would anyone have a different number to reach Intex? Until I resolve the air leak problem, I top off the air 3 to 4 times a day. Other than this issue, the spa works fine. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thank you.

      OMG. Just inflated a new tub today, and had same issue. Called Intex four times, fishing for someone who spoke English. WTF? Wondering, if it's OK to re-inflate with water in tub. Paul, while ABC are hooked up, can we still use hose and add some more air?

    All the overgrown grass around the unit....looks like there is garbage / candy bar wrapper on the ground... if this is the way you maintain your property then your review is insignificant - trashy - it's probably the way you maintain your spa as well. The fact that the garbage on the ground is so normal that you don't even realize it.....

    • @markaes
      @markaes 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If air isn't leaking out it must be an issue with the plastic fittings. Did you try replacing the o-ring (maybe warped or too small) or thread seal tape? My first tub didn't even come with the o-ring and I had a very small leak no matter how hard I tightened it. I didn't even realize it needed one until my second one.
