Anju Joseph is a Singer and Performer in Malayalam. She came into the limelight after Idea Star Singer, where she was one of the most popular contestants. She is also a playback singer. She started her career for films like Doctor Love, Alamara, Avarude Raavukal, Ormakalil Oru Manjukaalam, C/O Saira Banu. Another career break in her life was in 2016, when she released an a cappella version of the song Dheewara from the famous film Bahubali.
She now has her own music band called Anju Joseph Live. She hopes to focus more on her career as a musician and create independent music through her band. She has her own TH-cam Channel as well and hope to release music videos through her channel.
In this two-part series, Anju Joseph opens up about the most difficult phase in her life post her divorce. She shares her personal journey through depression and how her mental health suffered as a result of the marriage collapsing. She talks about how her life changed post her realization that she needs to go into therapy. She shares how her therapist changed her mindset, empowered her and helped get back on track with her personal and professional commitments. She talks about how Kerala society views divorce in this day and age, how important it is to be kind to the partner even when in the thick of divorce proceedings. It is important for people in the marriage to work on their marriage if both partners are willing to do so else part ways amicably, she says.

As a divorcee who was abandoned by my ex in a foreign country after 2 months of moving there and decided to live abroad after the incident because of all the stereotypes our society attaches to divorcees I completely understand everything she is talking about. Nobody expects incidents like this but if it happens we should live with them. And in my experience living abroad too, only the "Indian" community here stereotype you and even say bad things behind your back. People from the west understand and respect your struggle, even the bosses and workplace treats you well and are surprised at how horribly our culture treats divorced women. And that too I am someone who would have never migrated because of poverty, I decided to build a life and career of my own, which I have absolutely done without anyone bothering me . But even after that whenever I walk into an Indian community event I get rediculed and disgaraced for not choosing to stay in an abusive marriage or not having a husband and still being able to live with the same quality of life any of my Indian couple friends have.. Our culture is seriously twisted. We focus on what is "wrong" with the other person and never appreciate the guts and efforts it takes to stand alone, work hard and build a life of your own. Every person has their vision about life.. Live and let live..

As a fan of the show "Dhanya," I appreciate the show's impact on addressing mental health issues. Considering the significance of this topic in Kerala and elsewhere I propose providing discreet resources like a 1800 number on the show. Such a helpline could be a lifeline for those in need, fostering a caring environment and encouraging mental health support. Your show's influence could make a real difference.

Myself Arya, I am a psycho social therapist at Stanford. Kudos to Anju & Dhanya talking about importance of therapy; Anju made a valid point about choosing the right therapist, its true that if some therapist worked for someone doesn’t mean that he or she will works for you. My coworkers used to say that finding a right therapist is as difficult as find a right partner😊 you will landed with the right one maybe after you talked with many others.
Dhanya, you are a mindful listener, that’s I rarely see in people these days. Thanks for all your good works! And Anju keep rocking girl, you are brave!
To my fellow audience, Dhanya is right! there are many NGOs in India offering mental health resources and support. In government sector as well. There’s a government program called DMHP is available for public for free of cost. Its a multidisciplinary team which includes a psychiatrist, psychologist and a psychiatric social worker. Your nearest PHC can give you further information about this program, as per my understanding this team meet you at your community. I have done my internship at Trivandrum DMHP years ago when I was in India. I know that its a great resource for public. Hope it helps❤️ Happy Hugs 🤗

How cute dea❤️❤️❤️❤️. Stay happy always da, (Hafsa from Aluva)

I salute you, Anju. During the entire interview , you always remembered to give respect to your ex-partner which many people do not like to do. You never blamed anyone, in fact you tried to understand the emotions of others. You are really good lad at heart.

Getting a right therapist is one luck factor too. I myself is a pulmonologist, went through some difficult situation in my life & went to a well known psychiatrist in a famous hospital. That ma'am was actually good. But the psychologist there was utter waste. Half of the time he uses to boast about himself & his family. I was fed up and left his therapy sessions.
