Anju Joseph is a Singer and Performer in Malayalam. She came into the limelight after Idea Star Singer, where she was one of the most popular contestants. She is also a playback singer. She started her career for films like Doctor Love, Alamara, Avarude Raavukal, Ormakalil Oru Manjukaalam, C/O Saira Banu. Another career break in her life was in 2016, when she released an a cappella version of the song Dheewara from the famous film Bahubali.
She now has her own music band called Anju Joseph Live. She hopes to focus more on her career as a musician and create independent music through her band. She has her own TH-cam Channel as well and hope to release music videos through her channel.
In this two-part series, Anju Joseph opens up about the most difficult phase in her life post her divorce. She shares her personal journey through depression and how her mental health suffered as a result of the marriage collapsing. She talks about how her life changed post her realization that she needs to go into therapy. She shares how her therapist changed her mindset, empowered her and helped get back on track with her personal and professional commitments. She talks about how Kerala society views divorce in this day and age, how important it is to be kind to the partner even when in the thick of divorce proceedings. It is important for people in the marriage to work on their marriage if both partners are willing to do so else part ways amicably, she says.

പണ്ടു തൊട്ട് 'good girl ' syndrome ഇല്ലാത്ത കൊണ്ട് തന്നെ വിവാഹം കഴിച്ചു അടിപൊളി ആയി ജീവിക്കുന്നു..തുടക്കം മുതലേ എനിക്ക് എന്റെ ആയ ഒരു stand ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു..അതു പോലെ എന്റെ partner ക്കും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു..so ഞങ്ങൾ പരസ്പരം respect ചെയ്തും support ചെയ്തും 10 വര്ഷമായി ജീവിക്കുന്നു..
അനുഭവത്തിലൂടെ നേടിയെടുത്ത തിരിച്ചറിവ്. അൻജുവിന് അത് ഭംഗിയായിട്ട് പറയാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞു. ഈ പ്രായത്തിൽ മോള് കാര്യങ്ങൾ മനസിലാക്കിയല്ലോ മിടുക്കി.

Honestly a good interview and content. In Kerala increasingly more families are breaking up. Most parents and families dont know how to process this. Even when we go to social events the kind of questions and reactions are horrible. But end of the day what doesn't work, doesn't work. You do you and after some time people will understand.. Just stay strong..

Wow she is spot on. For most people separation is the worst. Rollercoaster of emotions. No one getting married to get a divorced. Every person who had a good relationship would tell me separation is easy but living together is a challenge. All those never understand why some would go through separation. Wonderful message.

I am a divorcee. My marriage had lasted for 1.5 years and 1.5 years of separation. I was hospitalized due to depression and it was only then when my family intervened. Like Anju said all this was new to me and my family. I was dissatisfied financially, emotionally and sexually. I realized that I could never be happy in this relationship. I believe a relationship does not exist without love, trust and mutual respect. To make the decision to file for divorce is the most difficult thing to do. We all tend to stick to the relationship due to family and societal pressure. But our mental peace and happiness is most important. At the end of the day we all are alone and have to take responsibility of ourselves. Like Anju says divorce is not the end of life. The show must go on. There is only one life. Love yourself and be truthful in all relationships.

I too face such queries while i replied i lost my father. How? When? And how you live 😢

Good to see the original Anju (never knew her struggles in between). Watched Josh Talks and this. Listening to you, I just hope you fully overcome the struggles and slowly become not dependent on therapy. Especially the related medication…it is good most of the time, but here in the U S we are much wary of one of its side effects including suicidal symptoms (yes…as we know sad instances where for depression medication, one main side effect include this!!). Music is the best therapy (for all of us)! Self love is the best (for anyone)👍👍 You are a pleasant, confident and beautiful being. All the very best!
