- Is homosexuality physically harmful? In a bad-take olympic candidate, James from CA claims that homosexuality is physically harmful and should be banned in the same way that environmentally damaging actions are banned.

Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life and for those who are willing and wanting, He will lead them into the ways of holiness and righteousness.

The risk of contracting HIV is slightly higher, other sti's are not.

The social harm caused by the moral degeneracy of christianity is clearly visible in the “claimed to be christian” US and UK but largely absent in largely atheist Norway and Denmark, where we live happily.

This is the number one reason I don't watch/listen to more of this; 99% of callers just want to come on and preach with no intention of participating in an actual dialogue. It so often boils down to either some mystical and hitherto undocumented phenomena or just "because the book says so".

Ya know. I use to be religious. I was a gay kid attracted to men, didn't realize i was a trans girl until later. But its this kind of mentality that was so damaging fir my mental health. When i was a little kid around 7 years old, i was crying hiding in my room because I had a crush on another boy in my class and all my life I was told it was the worst thing ever. I ended up hating myself so much that I tried to end my life

When a christian employs the 'its not natural' claim, I just point them to the fact that there has been no other species we have observed that has not displayed homosexual behavior.
It is natural, and the fact that animals do not have moral agency, means that their God specifically designed them this way.

Yes, i really want people to articulate the harm they believe is happening, how its happening, and how their solution would actually alleviate the harm.

The classic "harm" argument is the weakest I've ever heard. Is eating greasy fast food harmful, is smoking cigarettes harmful, is drinking alcohol harmful, is getting 3 hours of sleep a night harmful?
Humans do a lot of things that are "harmful" yet we do not make it illegal to do the afformentioned things.

Irrelevant question is irrelevant. The point is that using the same logic of the caller leads to the irrational conclusion that since there is harm (and death) in child birth it follows that heterosexuality is harmful.

James is like so many who identify as Christian nowadays. They believe that a book, which has been proven to have numerous contradictions, is "infallible". Problem is, ONLY God is supposed to be inerrant and infallible, so what they are doing is saying this book IS (literally) God. Plus they believe that everything in The Bible is "equal" with everything else, so they actually DO believe that what Paul wrote is as valid and important as what Christ taught. By James' logic, women should not be impregnated. Childbirth in and of itself puts the mother's life at risk. If it's a vaginal birth, the process of delivering the child will cause tearing or the mother may need an episiotomy. If it's a Caesarian birth, that is also a surgical procedure. Either way, birthing a child is both high-risk and highly painful, therefore by James' logic no heterosexual activity should take place because it could lead to conception, which leads to harm and pain. This is exclusively a heterosexual danger.

There's been a disconnect for a long time over this general issue. That being the idea among many religious folk that `homosexuality` is an `act` or a `behaviour` not simply a sexual or `eros` attraction. Which is absurd. I believe the reason it's so commonly held though, is because the idea of having a sexual attraction to their gender, so long as they don't act on it, is just `temptation` in their eyes and therefore they can have those attractions and pretend like they're not gay or bisexual.
All they did was fulfill part of their own prophecies to make people believe. Once it's accepted, people will do anything in service to the church. It's a big con. How can people not see that?
